Topic: Metal sound on the E

Yesterday when i did switch out my lower (fat one) E-string (it has taken many rough damages under its time...) it now suddenly made an anoying metal sound.
Does this sound doesnt dissapear so have i done something wrong when i trade the string, or will it go away by it self after time.
Its would be very nice with an anwser because it very disstubing when im playing.

er...

you changed the string and now it makes a annoying sound. will it go away ?

when does it make the noise. is it when you press the string down and play it

sounds like fret buzz

you might raise the string slightly using the tiny screws at the bridge

Re: Metal sound on the E

It would help to know more what it sounds like.

"Nobody paints by ear so why would I play guitar by sight?" hmm

Re: Metal sound on the E

Its like johncrass says: buzzing when im pressing an fret

Re: Metal sound on the E

a heavier gauge string should cure it

"Nobody paints by ear so why would I play guitar by sight?" hmm

Re: Metal sound on the E

If it's only when fretting the guitar you need to raise the actions for that string. If it's happening when you're using a dropped tuning, then you need thicker strings.

It could also be a problem with the truss rod adjustment.
