Topic: Influences

So, I was wondering who some of your
musical heros are. who you inspire to be.

Mine is Paul Simonon.
The bass player from The Clash
just his attitude and the fact that he didn't
even play the bass when he was offered a place in the band

Electric:  Gibson Les Paul Studio, Schecter Omen 6, PRS SE Custom
Acoustic:  Fender Talman, Yamaha
Amp:  Fender Super Champ XD/Line6 Spider III 75

Re: Influences

Dirty Ed - Because I like drinking beer and sitting by campfires alongside rivers, which he is known to do a lot of

Jim Croce - Because I like drinking scotch and B.S.ing friends, which he was known to do a lot of

James McCormack, because of his stylin' do and wry humor

Livingston Taylor, because he likes to do almost covers of sissified 70's folk/pop too

Johnny Cash - Do I really need to explain?

- Zurf

Granted B chord amnesty by King of the Mutants (Long live the king).

Re: Influences

good thread tron

I love the clash and I can understand why paul Simonon had inspired you.

I think the person that inspired me to play was probably clive williams from ac dc.
I started on bass guitar first.
Also, bruce foxton and bruce watson ( from the jam and big country)

I dont think anyone really inspired me to play the guitar.

but for songwriting, I am inspired from many and many different styles.
Ac/dc, syd barrett, roger waters, john prine, johhny cash, the corries, iron maiden, the pogues, eric bogle and a few others that I just canny think of right now.

NO my Granddad isn't famous (or Mick Jagger) he's called Mick Platt but he plays guitar and he's one of my influences. And my Uncle Ron is called Ron Geesin and he's kinda semi-famous but I doubt you know who he is. Look him up on wikipedia or something. I'm not related to the rest, which is a shame. sad

I didn't mention Eric Clapton as an influence either, how could I forget him hmm And NO I'm not a relative of him either. But I am related to Pete who won BigBrother a few years back tongue
