Topic: Saving songs on your computer

Hi gang

There are ofter questions about saving songs found by Chordie or on other internet sites onto your own computer. I thought I would share how I do it.

I found a little program called "Song Sheet" from http://www.dsbsoft.com/index.shtml costing $30. It displays songs in the same way Chordie does. and it saves them in it's own format and as a "Word" file.

When I find a song I want, I save it into My Songbook. From there I click "Edit" and then Highlight and Copy the code in the top box. I then paste that into the Song Sheet editor, make any changes as needed and save the files onto my Hard drive. I've been using it for about a year and it works really well .

Hope this helps

Cheers

Re: Saving songs on your computer

That fine, as long as the hosting internet site is still on line with the data file. It's the same as keeping the songs in your songbook. I'm sure there is a case for saying that once you have learnt a song, you don't need it again. But you never know.

Re: Saving songs on your computer

I use http://www.linkesoft.com/  It is a program for your PDA or smartphone and it also installs a program on your computer.  You have to enter the songs in chordpro format, but it really works nice.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.
