Topic: A Limerick song.

OK - the thought was - how do you turn a limerick into a song? I suppose a limerick is nothing but a rhyme scheme, so here goes. I almost called this "The Cynical Song "

"I will confess.

You walked into my careless arms,
I felt you melting, soft and warm
Against my unrepentant breast.
I saved my faithless, lying breath,
Preparing for the coming storm.

Your love was like a beacon fire,
Burning hot and ever higher;
Mine instead burnt blue and cold
Charred and tarnished, dead man's gold

I should have closed my eyes and cried,
But a better part of me had died,
I looked down at your up-turned face
You saw at once that guilty trace
And banished me from your bedside

You were right, but I cared less,
The door you slammed, just hid the mess.
And here I am walking blind
Towards the next you I can find,
To do the same again, I will confess."

Re: A Limerick song.

hi alan

nice bit of work here my friend, an easy thing to make into a song these are the chords i came up with:-

verse; Am- Dm- Em-F-|| Am- Em- Dm- Em||

chorus;  Dm- Em- F-Am-|| Dm- Em- Am- F...||

the verse being the 5 line verses, the chorus being the 4 liner.

i can send you an MP3 in a few days if you'd like me to put the music to it, or i can forget it...no probs, if your going to do it yourself

still like it muchly

Ask not what Chordie can do for you, but what you can do for Chordie.

Re: A Limerick song.

Love to hear it, Phil!

Re: A Limerick song.

Send it to me, too!  I love limericks, and I'm really curious what you came up with.

hi jerome

thanks for the interest, you can find my recording on my space page, click the link on your left.

not just jerome of-course any one who'd like to hear the song.

it's just a one track demo, and my voice is a bit hoarse after my new years eve gig at the sporting chance in red roses pembrokeshire... and please excuse the usual cock-ups too.

happy new year to all

Re: A Limerick song.

All the better for it being hoarse!

This sounds really good - let's call it a collaboration.

I'm going to put up another one to see what comes of it.
