THE  VEGGIE          BUVVY        19-02-09

I  AM  A  VEGETARIAN
PROUD  AND  TRUE
I  WILL  NEVER  EAT  MEAT
HOW  DOES  THAT  SOUND  TO  YOU
FRIED  EGGS  WILL  NEVER  SEE  MY  PLATE
SO  DON’T  INVITE  ME  TO  DINNER
OR  I  WILL  BE  LATE
NO  FISH  WILL  ADORN  MY  TABLE
AS  LONG  AS  I  AM  ABLE
TO  CHOOSE  BETWEEN  RIGHT  AND  WRONG
WHEN  I  SEE  MEAT
I  WILL  NEVER  BURST  INTO  SONG
SO  IF  I  AM  TO  ROAM
AMONGST  SCOTTISH  HEATHER
I  HAD  BETTER  REMEMBER
THE  VERY  COLD  WEATHER
AND  TAKE  A  FLASK  OF  HOT  TEA
TO  BE  SHARED
BETWEEN  KEN  AND  ME
LET’S  GO  BACK  A  FEW  HUNDRED  YEARS
THE  AMOUNT  OF  ANIMALS
ON  OUR  PLANET
WAS  SOMETHING  VERY  SPECIAL
TO  BE  ADMIRED  AND  SEEN
BY  ALL  AND  SUNDRY
EVEN  KINGS  AND  QUEENS
MAHARAJAS’  TOO
UNTIL  SENSELESS  MAN
DECIDED  TO  REDUCE  THEM  ALL
TO  ONLY  A  VERY  FEW
NOW  IS  THE  TIME  TO  ACT
GIVE  UP  OUR  BARBARIC  WAYS
LETS’  LEAVE  THE  ANIMALS  IN  THE  FIELDS
WHERE  ALL  THEY  WANT  TO  DO
IS  STROLL  AROUND  AND  GRAZE

Love the theme, Buvvy - I know there's a tune here somewhere . . .

Lord won't you buy me
A carrot to chew,
A legume would do lovely
Or an artichoke stew.
Don't give me veal cutlets
For I know I would spew.
So lord won't you buy me
A carrot to chew.

Going back a few hundred years and you Would be a meat eater.

Re: The Veggie Haggis Replies

Hi Alan, that could possibly be the old song about ''Buy me a Chevrolet'', I can't recall the name, maybe you could do an updated version with a new twist-lol.

Hi henry, You never can be too sure, a few hundred years ago I might have been one of the innovators who decided to buck the trend. Just some ''vegetables'' for thought.--lol

Re: The Veggie Haggis Replies

Actually a few hundred years ago you would be eating gathered food. Nuts, berries, roots ,veggies grown, cabbage, potatoes cheese, bread,..and dont forget the Guiness grog and whiskey. Hunting wasnt all that productive, and many wouldnt slaughter the production animals of other eadibles..However, I'll have my steak medium rare please...

I thought ; If I had one idea,
and took it from beginning to end.
I would try another.

Re: The Veggie Haggis Replies

Re: The Veggie Haggis Replies

Hi Marcalan - many thanks for the recipes, you must be very proud of your son, congrats. Your steak is on it's way - you might just have to reheat it once you get it, after all it's only a  22 hour flight from this side of the pond. Thankx again. ps - you're allowed to be biased.

Hi Marcalan,

I see your son-in-law has a Belfast connection, I have had the pleasure of eating in most of the places he has cooked in in Belfast.  Wish him a happy St Patrick's Day - it's only a couple of weeks away. He may be interested to hear that the Rankins are supposed to have gone bust and are fighting to save Cayenne. Apparently Paul is cooking.

Hi Old Doll,
Hope all is fantastic with you and yours.

Never had tiger meat myself, but I watched a TV show on National Geogrpahic and all those who tried it pretty much said the same thing; "It tastes kinda like chicken." And I  must say I have never heard tale of eating tiger paws, I have heard tale of folks gobblin' down pickled pigs' feet, chicken fingers, and frog legs though.............
