Topic: Need a good love song.

Me and my girlfriend recently broke up...Ok. She broke up with me lol. We're still talking and we're actually getting to be closer now than we were and I do foresee us getting back together. Which is great, because I am still deeply in love with her. My question is what would be a good song(preferably an easy one because I am an absolute beginner) that I could play for her at this point in our relationship? All help is GREATLY appreciated!

I am deeply in love with a girl named Sarah and she is my inspiration to learn/play guitar.

Re: Need a good love song.

I am really glad I read this post. And you will be too.
I have the perfect song. if you read the lyrics ye will love them, hear the song and ye will just have to learn it. It is fairly easy and is superb. I have had a few comments about this when me and my mate play/sing it.

Love song by Tesla    http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.l … e_song.tab

it says it is tabbed and it is but it also has the chords.
I sorted this out into word to get rid of tab so it was just lyrics and chords.

If you get to listen to this on spotify or pandora or if you know it already and want my word document  send me an email and i will gladly send you a copy.

I might even have the song on my computer wink who knows

Re: Need a good love song.

Thanks a lot. I read the lyrics and it does sound really good. I'll just have to try to get my hands on a copy of the song. Thanks again!

Re: Need a good love song.

Hi There SongsforSarah and welcome big_smile ~ I don't have any suggestions for songs at the moment,
but i would say learn something that touches the heart, it does'nt have to be complicated, if it touches the heart you will be inspired to learn.... and she will feel it too @~~

Good luck,

Re: Need a good love song.

Welcome to Chordie SongsforSarah.  Agree with Tesla suggestion, it's a good one.  Here's one you might consider based on ease of learning:

This guy plays it like he wants your girlfriend..better watch out
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kzc82YMWl-E

and this guy's got a pretty nice instructional video of the same song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdiXANnp77M

Either way, I'm working on it and it's a sweet song.

I know you've prob heard it, but here's the original guys' version

AccoustikNoyz... Thanks for the help, but I'm in the navy, and unfortunately on my boat I cannot access youtube... Can you post the names of the songs? Thanks again.

Re: Need a good love song.

Hey Songs for Sarah! (One yard, Jack!)

Being in the Navy, if you were called Songs. By. Sarah. I might think twice about replying!

To business: Wonderful Tonight - Eric Clapton. G, D, C, D, - Em on bridge.

Romeo and Juliet - Dire Straights. D, A, G - G, A for Chorus.

Hold On - Kieran Halpin (won't give you a youtube ref (if it can be found) 'cause I read your posts!) But a great, easy song C, F, G, then F, G, C (I think?) for the Chorus!

Can't think of any more the mo'!

Have you tried writing her a song yourself? As you will notice by  the responses to your own post, there are lots of love songs that fall into the "beginner/intermediate" areas, so why not try putting some chords to some words that are personal to you and she? Unless the world has changed beyond all recognition, it makes the ladies melt a bit when someone writes a song for THEM!

Re: Need a good love song.

I really like Wonderful tonight and Romeo and Juliet, but I cannot find ANYTHING on Kieran Halpin... No lyrics no nothing. I found keiranhalpin.com, but that doesnt give me anything useful... Any links or advice?

Re: Need a good love song.

SongsforSarah sorry about that.  Thanks for serving!

It's Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, and gave me some difficulty just for a couple days and then I found it quite simple.  Admitting I don't replicate it well, but when I played it for some folks they really liked it.  Here's a link on CHordie.

http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.g … 71025.html

No capo for me.  And if you know the song, there's a two note arpeggio for each of the following chords as well that goes on the intro and then on the outro.   Am (1st & 3rd string), Em (same two strings), F#m (1st & 4th string), and Em (1st & 4th string).  For me I then just strum the A, E, Dsus, A.

Hope I got that right and it helps.  It's really got nice lyrics and a good message.

Steve

Re: Need a good love song.

Thanks a lot AccoustikNoyz. Crazily enough(I don't know if crazily is a word but you know what I mean) she actually really likes Chasing Cars and it's one that I've tried playing a few times... It's tough because I'm just starting out, but it is one I would love to be able to play. Thanks a lot for the instruction on it. That's easier than the way I've been trying!

Thanks again!

Re: Need a good love song.

I don't want to be a downer here but, how long will it before you can actually serenade her if you're just a beginner?  I've been playing about about 9 months and most of these songs suggested look hard to me. I could maybe play wonderful tonight.  I hope you can do it cuz that would be awesome!

The point I'm trying to make is, don't get discouraged. It seems like your setting yourself up for disappontment a little. Everyone gets discouraged just trying to learn to play. You have another reason on top of just learning. So, stick with it and keep practicing. If you're commited then only good things will come. Playing guitar can give you satisfaction like nothing else.

Good Luck

May God bless you and your service to our nation

Re: Need a good love song.

On the other hand, even if you don't do it well during the serenade, she will like it that you gave it a shot anyway.  And as someone else earlier said, look into her eyes when you sing.

Re: Need a good love song.

Hey SFS!

Checked for you, this seems to be the best Wonderful Tonight I've found here:

http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.g … 45707.html

Can't find anything on K.H. on Youtube or similar, don't know if anyone can actually find this song - a beaut for your purposes. I worked out the chords from the album which I lost long ago.

If you need anything for the other two, hints or helps, just hollar!

Re: Need a good love song.

I definitely see what you're saying zguitar, but the way I look at it is... If I start learning a song to play for her now... I will be able to play it for her EVENTUALLY. If I don't start... I won't ever be able to. Better now than never...

Try looking at HERE IN  MY HEART BY OCEAN COLOUR SCENE, Its a nice easy chord progression moreover, will sound nice either strummed or simple finger picking. My songbook the vincester up loaded on 6th september will give you the chords they are the same throughout  all the verses. take care

Re: Need a good love song.

Here's one I'm currently working on...   Bright Eyes "First Day of my Life" http://www.imeem.com/artists/bright_eye … m-version/   Maybe you can access that one from your local... Here's the chords http://www.yourchords.com/7007/Bright-E … fe-Chords/  They play it picked pretty fast but you could simplify it to a strumming pattern and slow it down a little pretty easily...

For those that can see youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5rhhQby … annel_page I really liked this vid smile

Re: Need a good love song.

Yep your gonna have to post your version.  That's a nice one.

Re: Need a good love song.

I found it only 30 minutes before posting... Came across it on youtube and came to chordie looking for chords and decided to throw a link up for the OP. I've played threw it a few times tonight... Give me 2-3 days to really get the feel & timing down and I'll throw together a vid for a fairly easy version. -Pix

Re: Need a good love song.

Hi SfS, try writing something yourself, as KajiMa suggested. Here is an opener for you, I am a sailor, always at sea, but you are my only love, my need to be; if you complete the text and can't play it as a song, recite it to her as a poem, that should do the trick and the sun should shine for both of you again. Alternatively show her all the help and suggestions you have been gathering on Chordie and that should win her over as to your sincerity. best of luck.

Keep on Rocking and remember Animals Feel Pain Too.

Re: Need a good love song.

Ha Pix soaz!

That Bright eyes song has been used over here for a TV ad campaign by a building society. I'd wondered what it was, who it was by, etc! Cheers!
