Topic: Figured I'd finally catch up on posting some song lessons...

Well they're nothing fancy but I'm posting between 10-15 song tutorials today so I figured I'd share them... I've had quite a few song lesson requests from youtube over the past couple of months and figured today would be good for catching up. I'm doing them fast and very casual, so don't expect too much smile I'm uploading via quick capture on youtube so video quality is only so so and any mistakes that are made stay with the videos smile Anyway maybe a few fellow chordians will find something remotely helpfull in them wink

"Dela" by The Beautiful Girls  http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.g … 55114.html

Dock of the Bay by Ottis Redding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vmi7yzqV1Uo

No Woman No Cry  Fugees version    This is the main riff used throughout the song...   It's great practice for walking in and out of chords and I use it as a warm up riff to get the fingers loose smile http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJ7SiOl5QBw

Cookie Jar by Jack Johnson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N3KJcRGMVE

"The General" by Dispatch. It's a little more advanced than the others but a lot of fun to play.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qpWMIalsuA

La Mar (The Ocean Song) by The Beautiful Girls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nQantjfSWY I usually play this tuned down a half step like they do but I didn't feel like retuning the guit so here it is in standard tuning with the chords adjusted. Great song and easy to sing. People usually find this impressive but it's really a very easy song to play smile

Upside Down by Jack Johnson  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKcvAfjDQ6s I should have practiced this one a little before recording. smile It's been awhile since I played it and I almost forgot the last chord of the chorus wink

Better Together by Jack Johnson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zb1w6gd2VM0  One or two slight fingerslips first thing this morning but no major mistakes.. Still trying to get loosened up this morning after playing all day yesterday wink

Cupid by Jack johnson http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Og5inQdWnAU

Falling by Iration   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzIICdPHxCw

Egyptian Reggae by Jonathan Richman http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUqt9x3pXqk   The tab can be found here http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/?url= … ranspose=0  The last portion of this tab is slightly off, it's missing an F note (D string 3rd fret) but if you follow the vid with the tab you shouldn't have any trouble spotting it smile

Some may not be processed yet so if you try and it's not available just try again in 10-15 minutes....

I'll add links to the others as I get them uploaded.

Good Job Pix!

You have a great voice, I think you should turn loose and add some vocals. I am just working on a vid of Wonderwall, but it's a lot different from yours and yours is good, it's a finger pickin version kinda like Ryan Adams did.

Re: Figured I'd finally catch up on posting some song lessons...

Thanks Wayne. The voice is kinda rough now smile I've got a heck of a cold.
Look forward to seeing the wonderwall vid! I prefer to play it fingerstyle myself now. Though I keep the tempo that oasis used were Ryans is a bit slower. Kind of a mix between the two...

Hey Pix,  I just did a rough video on Wonderwall  not trying to rob your thread. I was just posting it for a friend that wanted to know how I play it. I don't perform it though I usually have someone else sing it. I dont like my singing on it but I threw it in anyway.

Very nice Wayne! Well played smile It's really a beautiful song slowed down like that (IMO) and the guitar sounded wonderfull! I liked your voice with it to smile

Re: Figured I'd finally catch up on posting some song lessons...

Thanks Pix, I haven't played it for a while and my pinky finger is SCREAMING OUCH!  When I use to play it regularly it wasn't so bad, I run through it several times today and that little finger sure is hurtin by the time you get through it.

Hey Pix and Wlbaye!

Good job, both! If this thread doesn't end up with 1000 hits minimum, then there is no justice or there aren't that many people who really want to learn and play WELL!

(and you guys play better than well!)

Good on yer both! cool

If you've only been playing for 2 1/2 years all is lost, there is no justice and I have to start practicing!

Pix and Wayne - I've watched 'em all and I salute you for your time and efforts, willingness and abilities to help others. I toast you both!

Rule No. 1 - If it sounds good - it is good!

Re: Figured I'd finally catch up on posting some song lessons...

I don't really think how long you've been playin is real important, being dedicated is and Pix is doing very, very well and you can tell his hard work is paying off.
Thanks for the nice comments, helping others and sharing some tips is what i enjoy the most.

Re: Figured I'd finally catch up on posting some song lessons...

Awesome work on these vids Pix and Wayne. big_smile:

I've had years of teaching myself bad habits and getting stuck in my style of play. These lessons should help me break some of those nasty habits.

Muchos Gracias
