Topic: NDD (New Drum Day)

Well, I made a little road trip today and traded my Ibanez Semi-Hollow AS83VLS electric for a set of LP Siam Oak Bongos and Congas with stands. I've had a ball banging away all day smile The kids are throughly enjoying them as well but I think the wife is a little less enthusiastic wink  Here's a quick pic of the set... (please excuse the mess, I'm in the process of rearranging the studio...)

The previous owner and I had been discussing the trade online (we met via craigslist) for the last week or so. Today I finally went and met him. We got to talking and it turned out that he and his friend were fellow Chordians though they hadn't visited the forums yet. Thought that was cool and I invited them to stop in and say hi to everyone.

Anyway, I've been checking out some lessons on youtube and found some good material on LPs web site as well... I was just wondering if anyone here played and could ,possibly, recommend some real good sites to check out? Thanks! Peace -Pix

Hi guitarpix, nice looking set beaters you have there,I do not know of any sites for them. I do know that santana's band uses these type of beaters alot, you may want to check out some of his bands music.

Happy NDD!

Those are cool!!!!!!!! I have always eyed those sort of things and talked myself down. I keep thinking "I can hardly play these guitars!!". My kids would love them too and your wife must be a saint! If it were me I'd be doing a cover of Little Feat's Spanish Moon. Those were MADE for that!!!

Re: NDD (New Drum Day)

Thanks for the suggestions! They're all fun to "attempt" to play along with smile I've played Djembe and bongo Cajun for a while now so I'm pretty familiar with the techniques/patterns but this is my first set of congas and bongos so there's going to be a little learning curve I'm sure. I play this on Djembe (though not quite as good as he does wink ) but have been giving it a go on the congas this morning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ryLqfNwSSFE and this really easy one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ5nWLvh … annel_page though I spice it up a little more. Took the day off just to have some fun smile

III don't wanna work
I just wanna baang on these drums all day wink

Re: NDD (New Drum Day)

So should we expect something on you tube by the end of the day; you did take the whole day off from work.....:-).

One word...jealous. I'm at work and it sucks.....

Re: NDD (New Drum Day)

Very cool Pix. How you gonna rig a harness so you can play all your instruments at the same time?

Yep something like that or this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XR8ZRfDPosE smile  Love this song!

Not many good band mates in my area (at least not with my tastes) so why not do it all myself one track at a time smile
