Topic: Danger High Voltage (problems with the electrics)

I have a 20 year old korean squier and the electrics have become increasingly erratic in recent years

Lots of static when i shift the pots and the sound cuts out or wavers when I touvch the bridge  selector. infact any vibration will upset it

its a nice guitar and is otherwise in very good condition.

I would like to pay to have it fixed but any ideas on what is wrong and what the likely solution is.

that will at least give me a chance of negotiating a sensible deal with the local guitar repair shop

John sometimes if you take the pickguard off after removing the strings you can use some tuner spray it drys quick and will clean those old pots just spray it where the wires are soddered to them and also the part your guitar jack plugs into it may solve the static problem and it isnt very expensive I use it a few times a year to clean my strat and it might save you the expense of taking it to a repairman smile
