Re: What brand and thickness picks do you use?

I've gone through dozens of different picks over the years, including a brief fling with genuine tortoishell... (expensive!).    Presently, I use the .88 mm Dunlop nylon jobs.   They last a long time, are readily available, and sound good for the type of picking I do.

When I was working on jazzy leads and such, I did like the little, thick Dunlop jazz picks.

Re: What brand and thickness picks do you use?

I've been playing with my bare fingers.  There's been a few times when I've tried to pick up one of hubby's picks and I just cannot hold onto them... they fall right out of my hand while I'm playing.  I like to mostly play with my thumb and I desperately hear notes that I want to pick out to no avail.  I happened to be at the local shop and decided to grab a thumb pick and some finger picks for the heck of it.  I am in LOVE with the thumb pick!  It's taking some getting used to on upstrokes... and I know I should be using my fingers or the finger picks... but that'll take some more time.  I just can't say enough good about what the thumb pick has helped me out with... getting those few notes in there picked out as I'm strumming.  This brings a totally different sound and style to my playing!

Those finger picks ... those will take more getting used to!

Right now I am playing a Golden Gate. When I get money I want to get a Bluechip(KS50)...right now a $35.00 pick has to wait.

Holy Cow! A 35.00 pick!?!?

I love deadlines, I love the whooshing sound they make as they fly by. (Douglas Adams)

Re: What brand and thickness picks do you use?

I have tried thumb and finger picks.  I don't use them enough to get used to them.  it takes a lot of use, I'm afraid, to get them right and feel comfortable.  As for  a $35 pick, that is just wrong.

Hi, Check out the mojo picks on e-bay. They are really a fine pick.  I have bought a couple of 1953s' (birth year ) and love them. On my accoustic I use a pretty thin dava control. I like a lot of texture on a pick.

Re: What brand and thickness picks do you use?

I am trying to get back into using my pick lately, since I have been reading this thread.  I know, the more I use it, the more comfortable it becomes.  But I still like using my fingers.   And for $35 it should have a beer holder on it at least.
