Topic: Upgrading and streamlining recording equipment

Hi y'all,
I've read through all the posts here about the equipment and although facinating they don't completely cover my situation. Here's hoping I'm articulate enough to ask the right questions!

I am wanting to record a variety of instruments, both electric and acoustic, including drums and a range of music from folk to my teenage son's garage band. I'm looking for suggestions on what computer setup to go with (PC or Mac I've not used Mac before) and what software to use. Right now I'm using Cubase SE which I don't find friendly at all! I'm not a recording engineer, just a hobby guy.

I also would like suggestions on hardware such as mixers to computer and studio monitors (that could be used as a PA if possible).

thanks wery much.

Snowden I sent a  private message to you as Chordie frowns on ads, some of these units make there own cd's so you wouldn't need software to store it on your pc so you can burn it to a cd smile
