Topic: Strap buttons

Hi all I just bought a Martin DX1, which I'm pleased w/, there is a strap button on the bottom and none on the top. I'd hate to add a button at the base of the fretboard, and deatroy the character of the guitar. But I'm afraid that if I tie the strap to the top of the fretboard I might cause damage by putting pressure sideways on the fretboard.Any input?

Re: Strap buttons

If you are not prepared to add a button then you leave yourself no option.

Personally I think that if a matchng (or very close) button is fitted then it doen not detract from the guitar in fact I would say that it enhances it as you can secure your strap in what I consider to be the correct manner.

I used to be disgusted; now I try to be amused.

Re: Strap buttons

My Ovation came without a neck strap button, they told me to put the strap on the head stock, but they sold me a button which I screwed into botton of the neck.
