Topic: What 5 songs would YOU choose to perform?

Hi I posted a message a few weeks ago about what people's favorate 10 acoustic songs to play were in the hope that I'd pick up some gems and come across a load of great songs which I forgot / didn't know were out there - I found loads of great and classic songs, so I'm after some more!

I now wonder what five songs you would choose to perfom in a solo set - just you and your acoustic guitar - to an audience?

Right now mine are:

Better Together - Jack Johnson

Your body is a Wonderland - John Mayer

Walkaway - Ben Harper

refuge (when its cold outside) - John Legend

Just the way I'm feeling (acoustic version) - Feeder

Re: What 5 songs would YOU choose to perform?

This is a good question for me, as I'm putting together sets for my first ever public performance.

Right now it looks like

Early in the Morning (B.B. King Version)

Big Back Cadillac (Blues original by me)

Stuck in the Middle (Steeler Wheels)

Oh You Rider (Greatful Dead)

And if I can get my girlfriend to practice (she plays flute), Jethro Tull's Bouree.

Someday we'll win this thing...

Re: What 5 songs would YOU choose to perform?

Brilliant question.......

I've had the pleasure (for me, not the poor audience) of playing a couple of wee impromptu sing along sessions for my friends and family and usually pretty high on my list are:

Cannonball - Damien Rice

This Year's Love - David Gray

Advertising Space - Robbie Williams

Driftwood - Travis

Last Request - Paolo Nutini

I know you only asked for five, but I also love playing Sad Song by Oasis.

All pretty easy songs and good fun to sing too.

All I got, is a red guitar, three chords and the truth

Re: What 5 songs would YOU choose to perform?

Not an exhaustive list of what i'd like to play, just what I'd like to play at the moment.

David Bowie - Space Oddity

Oasis - Half The World Away

The Beatles - You've Got Too Hide Your Love Away. Beautifull song.

Cat Stevens - Wild World.

Ocean Colour Scene - The Circle. They do a great acoustic version of this as well as the album version.

The TV over here was showing an advert recently where a bloke was strumming away to Life On Mars - David Bowie....sounded fantastic to me.

Craig.

Blind acceptance is a sign, of stupid fools who stand in line. John Lydon.

'Mod' is a shorter word for 'young, beautiful and stupid' - we've all been there." - Pete Townshend.

Re: What 5 songs would YOU choose to perform?

What a great way to build up a song list (I had trouble spelling reperatoire). I would say the (5) songs I would choose to perform would be:

           1.SUNNY AFTERNOON - KINKS/BUFFETT

           2.MY BACK PAGES - DYLAN

3.LONG MAY YOU RUN - NEIL YOUNG

           4.CHAIN GANG - SAM COOKE

           5.WITCHY WOMAN - EAGLES

If you are young you may not remember a few of these, but all lend themselves very well to an acoustic performance.

Re: What 5 songs would YOU choose to perform?

I also would love to preform Suite Judy Blue Eyes by CCNY

Need two or three picking buddies to realy make it come alive
