Topic: What songs would you play in......

a kitchen party. This ones for you Badeye.

Some songs just get everyone going. In my opinion they must be popular, multi-generational and upbeat....at least till 2am then you can slow down a bit.... <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">

I would start with:

Knocking on my Back Door-CCR

Help - The Beatles

Don't Stop Me Now- Queen

Get Back - The Beatles

I Wanna Be Sedated- The Ramones

I Will Survive - Gloria Gainer

Summer in the City - Lovin' Spoonfull

There are so many so please add on!

Re: What songs would you play in......

As far as I am concerned if Amy Sky were invited she could sing any of her songs and with a crate of Moosehead as well, that would be heaven.

You Canadians are very selfish keeping both Amy and Moosehead for yourselves.

Re: What songs would you play in......

Hello Mike, your right some songs just get the kitchen hoppin
Songs like "Down on the corner" by C C R, "Feel the same way to" by the Rankins, anything Beatles, My buddy Jon likes Pink Floyd so he does a couple, And my other buddy is into blues so a twelve bar blues can last a while especially when I get the harp going. We do all kinds of songs. We know its good when the girls [Wives and girlfriends]start dancing around the kitchen and having a good time.WE always have lots of Moosehead and Schooner beer on ice and lots of good food, maybee the odd bottle of wine. Its way better than going to a bar or even the movies, lol.

Hey Roger, Amy Sky is great, Maybee I'll invite her to the next kitchen jam,[ya i wish] Anyway take care and keep on kitchen jammin.

Hey Badeye,
Nothing like everyone having a good time in the kitchen! Of course after a few Mooseheads we all seem to play better.... well is does seem that way! I like to include some kids songs to get the little ones going. Like Puff The Magic Dragon, Big Blue Frog, and Right Field by Peter Paul and Mary.

Keep on picking By

Hey Badeye,

Sounds like fun, if I were a little closer perhaps I would gatecrash, but it is rather a long hike from Portugal. Mind you the Moosehead and music sound tempting.........

Re: What songs would you play in......

Wow Wasn't  that a party. The saturday nite kitchen was a blast. Lasted till 4 am. The new player had an acoustic bass and made the music sweeter. We did a great version of Stan
Rogers "Barrets Privateers' which is done with a foot stomp no guitars. We all had a long sleep after the jam and sunday was a very slow day.lol. This is why i learned guitar and can't
wait for the next one. Well its monday morning and I got to go to work.

Have a good day chordies....Badeye.

Re: What songs would you play in......

Ahhh another great Canadian Beer. It seems you gotta have cold beer for a kitchen jam. Especially after a long work week.

...Badeye.

Hey Mike are you watching the Playoffs ? good hockey bad reffering.

Re: What songs would you play in......

Would love to be watching but I've been working like a fool theses days. By the time I get home I'm bushed ( Bush bad american beer ) . Just enough time to spend with my guitar before going to bed. Of course if the kids didn't eat so much I wouldn't have to work so much....alas the burden of a father with teenagers ( Said with hand to forehead...... a little drama always feels good )

How are things on the east coast by?

Re: What songs would you play in......

Ahh yes Mike I see where your comming from, but it sounds like your a great Dad. I know its tough when you work long hours its hard to stay awake. I try to have a nap before hockey game but it does'nt always work. down here in the east spring has come and the type of work I'm in seems like the customers want things done yesterday. Nobody seem to understand that Rome was'nt built in a day. Busy, busy, busy.
AHH but someone has to do it , lol.
Speaking of bush beer its like water not much to it eh.Give me a canadain beer anyday. Can you still get Labbat
50?  Now there's a beer with bite.Ten Penny is also a great beer. Goes good with Lobster, lol.
The Ottawa Senators seem to have it all and are going for the cup ah but next year maybee the habs or bruins will get in. well its early tuesday morn and gotta get ready for another work day so take care and have a great day.

Re: What songs would you play in......

Like I said very busy....Friday afternoon and now I can reply.
Yes you can get Labbatt 50 and some others with even more bite. Yet I've been on the wagon for 18 years so I haven't had the pleasure of trying them. One brewed here is called La Fin Du Monde..... The End Of The World. About 9% and another called La Maudit.....The Damned. Also around the 10% mark. They kinda kick the weaker american beers into next week. They not only go good with lobster but put some in the pot and the little suckers will jump in on their own. LOL

Yes Ottawa is doing well but we will still rag on them......traditions you know..... although it would be nice to have the cup in the great white north again.
Have a great week-end by.
Mike

Re: What songs would you play in......

I've just changed after many years from Godin strings to Gibson. I find that the Gibson strings have a cleaner sound. As a bonus they are cheaper tongue

Re: What songs would you play in......

sounds to me like you guys really know how to have a good time. I am kinda new to where I live now and unfortunetly have not had the chance to hook up with any jammin buddies that are in the same ability range as me. but if I were starting some songs in the kitchen I would have to start with some easy 3 chord rockabilly beat like mystry train/ thats all right and into rock this town then maybe some crossroads then pehaps allman bros one way out.... then the beatles dont let me down, how about some more clapton with layla and then robert Johnsons walkin blues then james taylor version of how sweet it is to be loved by you...how many is that....ah whos counting   I always enjoy jack johnson ...how about  wishin waiting  need some regge..bob marley... I shot the sheriff

what a long strange trip it's been

Re: What songs would you play in......

Hey Patrick you would be a great addition to a kitchen party.
we do it strickly for the fun we have. The music is always a great release from the weeks work. We have a basket filled with musical instruments like gazoo's, Harmonica's, shakers,
a penny whistle, tamborine, and a set of bongo's , it comes out and the kitchen gets a hoppin. We are pretty slow the next day but well worth it.

have a good day...Badeye

Re: What songs would you play in......

Jeez that all sounds great. Most of my family play in a Pipe Band so I'm the odd one out.
But hey, guitar and bagpipes? Let's go for it!
Don't think a full marching pipe band would fit in my kitchen though.

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: What songs would you play in......

Hey Alvee what about the back yard. guitats and bagpipes kool.

Away, away with pipe and drum,
Full of the devil, and navy rum
Rump a ta ,dump a ta, here we come
The North Atlantic Squadron.

What a party that would be.  LOL

Re: What songs would you play in......

Lmao

You got it..................

family get-togethers can be a bit noisy!

Fun though.

It's usual for us Scots to get drunk and start singing songs about being far from home.......
WHEN WE'RE STILL HERE!

Is anything really made up of zeros and ones??

Re: What songs would you play in......

Sounds like you guys would have a big noisy bash. Life is good. Lot of people don't like the bag pipes but I do. I play my own version of the pipes by pinching my nose, tilting my head back, Howling like a cat in heat, and using my index finger to tap my throat for the beat. Only when I'm drunk tho. I'm Scottish too.  LOL.

have a good one.... Badeye.
