Topic: New to Guitar and Tabs?

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie and am slowly learning guitar (acoustic). Just would love to play a few songs while sitting around with the gang. I love this Chordie site but I'm baffled as to how to read the songs. I was expecting to see chords shown but this line and number format has me stumped. If there was a teacher/instructor near me I could ask and learn. How do I read this and apply it to my playing the guitar? Give me a break as I'm REALLY new to this. There are no music teachers anywhere near me. I could travel about 250 miles and "take" lessons but it's just not in the cards or budget. I'm all ears to anyone who has the time to get me started.
Thanks to all of you on Chordie for giving me a chance to enter your world of music.

Re: New to Guitar and Tabs?

Hi Rick ane welcome to Chordie.

The songs that you have found are in tab form where the strings and frets are shown to pick out a riff or the melody of a song. Near the top of the page look for SHOWING ALL SONGS and click on the change at the side. You will then see the filter menu so you can show only songs with chords. That, I hope, should help you find what you want.
