Topic: Mind the Children. Helena Donovan

My sister-in-laws cousin died suddenly last week.

She was all of 36. had no illness or history of.. They had 2 children, 2 year old  and a  baby 3 months . Her last words to her husband " which he thought strange was " Mind the children"  Half an hour later her husband found her dead  apparently from a  Heart attack .. This is a wee piece i wrote about this tragedy.
When your from a big clan like mine, theres  lots of great joy, but  sadness also  finds its place among us.

Mind the Children!

She obeyed his call
Left earths construction
One last loving look
She gave instruction
“Mind the children

Her panoramic views
On life as she knew it,
So much, yet so young
When death came calling,
She gave instruction
“Mind the children

Horizons littered with crosses
Masculine strength to bear,
Unseen, her spirit will guide
Renewing instructions
“Mind the children

A Mother, your lover, for you
Unexpected plains of loss
Words of nurturing, Remember?
Her final and last instruction
“Mind the children

That is sad to hear and some good lyrics there.  Kind of haunting.

I have finally found happiness in my life.  Guitars, singing, beer and camping.  And they all intertwine wonderfully.

Re: Mind the Children. Helena Donovan

Old Doll you have me tearing up a bit here.  How sad, and such a wonderful little piece to remember her words and those of any mother.  Almost a "Don't grieve for me... you must be strong and take care of the babies, it's what I need of you now..." Haunting indeed Pete.  God Bless the families affected by her loss... and kisses on buttery baby cheeks.

Art and beauty are in the eyes of the beholder.
What constitutes excellent music is in the ears of the listener.

Beautiful writing Lena,
Make sure this piece is saved for when the children are older.

They will be proud of this piece.
My Condolences to all.

Re: Mind the Children. Helena Donovan

Hi Helena,

My condolences to you and the family of this unfortunate young woman. It is tragic when someone who has everything to live for is snatched away so unexpectedly.

Your poem, as usual, is wonderful and heartfelt and I agree with Kenny that is should be kept for the children.
