Re: ways to play seventh

A7                 E A D G B E
     2nd fret     0 0 2  2 2 3    index finger on 2nd fret pinky 3 rd fret
B7 4 th fret     x x 4 4  4 5     same   etc.

Re: ways to play seventh

Teach him all the 7ths in open positions.   E7, A7, B7, C7, D7. and G7 can all be played without ever playing a barre.

yh that helps thanks i will do that normally i am a bit more organised than this

Re: ways to play seventh

C7 is a very usefull chord it can be moved up the neck by muting both E strings if you keep in mind the steps in the C scale and that each fret is a half step so as an example a C7 posistion on the 3rd fret is a D7 on the 5th fret its a E7 and you can include the low E string on this chord (E7) for a fuller sound smile
