That makes me fell better cause I still do that sometimes.

I think Ibenez makes a fine electric. So does Steve Vai.

I think American Chaos Theory from Carbondale Illinois are by far the best ever. If you don't beleive it check them out on myspace. (I know it was a shameless plug ) Actually I agree the Beatles are the all time top. I also think the Stones, Guns n Roses and the Doors are up there.

Is there a website where you can mp3s of origional songs up? I have them on myspace but we are only allowed 4 songs at a time.

P.S.

Elixer strings are possibly the worste sounding accustic strings I've ever played since the time I put super slinky electric strings on my accustic. That was a very interesting sound.

Actually I learnned on an electric and then bought an accustic to play outside and at coffee houses and such. I had no problem. The only thing I had to get used to was that accustics are generally bulkier and lighter than electrics. If only I would have had someone there to tell me...then I could have bought into the B.S. myths that surround the whole electric vs accustic debate. How did I miss it? Where was I? What in the world was I doing????Oh yeah I remember...I was making music on whatever instrument I had in my hand. Sure wish you would have been there to set me straight!!!

There are lots of options. Change the way you hold it, Change the type of pick(fender makes a very large triangle shaped pick), or just don't use one. Buddy Guy says useing a pick is like showerring with your shoes on. Good Luck.

i think it's good to learn anything that you aren't familiar with. A lot of classical techniuqe can be used in other styles like metal(Steve Vai), folk (Simon and Garfunkle), Blues and even Bluegrass. Stick with it dude!!! You will really be happy you did.

I use different equipment than Slash. I have a Big Muff with All 3 knobs turnned all the way up. I keep the Cry Baby all the way back in the bass position and play through the guitar imput on a Fender Bassman. Also on the Les I play with the switch up in the rythem position through most of the song. A lot of it depends on what guitar, amp and effects you use. If you play alot of GnR you might want to invest in the same set up Slash uses.

cytania is right. Pick the guitar that fits you and your budget best. Harmony makes some fine beginner guitars as well if you are looking for strat style. Dan Electro guitars have a neat sound with their lipstick pick ups.

Another great one. I wasn't sure how you wanted it to go so I did it in a kind of slow heavy Johnny Cash style.I think I will try recording it like that and backing it with some strings. I really like it a lot. Can't wait for the next one!

My friend gave me pretty much the same advice as you guys. He said a person who has played solely LP almost has to learn to play something els. We are trading guitars for a while since he hasn't played a les for quite some time and we'll see if I can get a feel for it cause I really don't want to keep myself in a box like that. btw my guitar idol Buddy Guy plays strat.

Distortion is also sometimes called gain or overdrive. Some amps come with that and some don't. You can also get a pedal for it. Reverb gives it depth kind of a combo of sustain and echo also available on some amps and in pedal form.

It also helps to make sure your strings are fairly new.

Here is the site for hearing my band. The sound quality is rough because we recorded it ourselves but I hope you like the music. Get back to me and let me know what you think. By the way I went, I listened, I liked. Good stuff mate!

It is never too late to learn to play. You learnned English and thats got 26 letters. Music only has about 12 (of course those letters make a lot of different words[that is to say chords] ya know). So go for it!!!

Good luck!!!

Some of my favorites to play:

Killin Foor - Howlin Wolf

I Pity the fool - Just about every bluesman out there

Why I sing the blues - B.B. King

Close to you - Muddy Waters

Damn Right I Got the Blues - Buddy Guy

Come In My Kitchen - Robert Johnson

Roadhouse Blues - The Doors

And don't forget your own blues, a story is always better when it's your own!

Good stuff!

I was looking through my cd collection and online all over and i couldn't find any of your albums, or singles or even a mention on anyone eleses. Most people don't have to tell anyone that they are a professional. EGO...

never pick up a guitar without it!

Ouch man. I don't think fenders suck. I just don't really know my way around them yet. I don't think I suck that bad, unless i'm trying to play a fender.

Hey there!

Slash was the guitarist that first inspired me to play.

Slash is one of the best but he didn't get there in a month or a year or even 2 or 3 years. There is no magick guitar god potion that will make you sound like him. But you can in time. Take it slow. Learn each note of each riff at your own pace and once you've got it try it at combat speed.Do that until you have the entire song down. Remember the sound also comes from his equipment. He plays mainly Les Paul guitars, with a Marshall tube amp, a Dunlop crybaby pedal (usually pulled back to the bass position to give his guitar that extra growl) and he brings years of experience to the table. Keep working at it and soon you will play all of the GnR songs. Some easier ones to start with are Paradise City, My Michelle, Nighttrain and both versions of Crazy. Good luck!!!!

There are some short cuts and no doubt you will be told about each of them by this time tomorrow. The truth is that B and the entire B family of chords is no more mysterious or difficult than any other.Sure you have to move into the uncharted terf beyond the third fret and do a bit more than shit a couple of fingers, but honestly your hand streches further to mach a G or G7 and people seem to have no problem with a B7 and that is more crowed that a B. You can learn to use a B chord just like you have any other chord. Just keep practicing and soon you'll feel the pride and satisfaction of being able to play it confiditly. Red carpets will roll, champagne will rain from the heaven and so on. Good luck and don't give up!
