Phill,
Vacation must have been very good to you - this is an
excellent song, Buddy !
Love the  way you intertwined mystery into the scheme... and left it hanging  to each person's imagination as to whether or not he in fact did kill some one.
As per usual, the musical portion is top notch.   The easy flow of the guitar makes it so easy to immerse  yourself into the story as it unfolds.

and I know you're not a big futbol fan, but I'm pulling for Wales today vs. England - just B/C of you !! Let's hope the outcome isn't as sad as this song!

Keep'em coming my friend,  thoroughly enjoyed it.

Jim

That was really cool Russell !

excellent playing - trio melds very well together!

enjoyable to watch.

It was fascinating to see the different birds from your home compared to the ones I feed here in central New York State.
Nature is awesome !

The music was well done and fit the visual to perfection!

nicely done Arkady

Hey - glad all is well with  Pete !

However, I do have a question about another former chordie regular - Whatever happened to Gil ( the singer / guitarist  from San Fran )  ?   He sent me an email saying got banned, but no one ever gave him a reason why.

I thought he was a good dude.. always nice to my posts and requests.

Anybody know anything about him ?

Nice buy.

I have a trio and still have not mastered anything on it.
I am guessing that you have to actually know something about music to work these puppies. ( advantage to you1  smile )

What an amazing performance. !  So very talented - each contributor of the band  at such a high level.
Classic song.... unique voice and stage presence.

I could not help but think of how much Phill and Ian sound so much alike!

Jethro Tull was soooooo special - thanks for sharing this performance

Jim

ok all.....

since my forte is not singing or playing I thought I would add a little twist and do what suits me a little better.
Instead of covering Neil's awesome song.....  I wrote a sequel to it ( which is what I like to do)

I don't know if it will make sense to you ... but it  stems from my interpretation of the original lyrics.

here it is: After the Goldrush. part 2

[G]Well I dreamed the space ship came [C]back  to Earth
while the[G] towns and  the cities[C] burned
There were [G]children crying, and [D] soldiers dying
When the[Cmaj7] chosen one re[D]turned
There was a [Em] bolt of lightning
A[F]cross the sky
And the[C] thunder  was deaf [F]ening
[G] they bowed their heads, and [D]bent their knees, and all [F] began to  sing [C]

all in a [Bm]dream,all  [C]in a dream
it was [G]too good to be [C] true
[D]Flying Mother Nature's [A]silver seed
coming  [C] back for me and [G]you

{G] well the silver seed had been re[C]plenished
And It [G] brought  new messages of  [C]truth
that were [G]  questioned by those who [d] held the power
but were [Cmaj7}embraced by  the  [D] youth
there was  [Em] revolution [F]in the air
and [C] energy that would not [F]cease
a [G] new  generation of [D]love not seen since the [F]1960’s [C]

all in a [Bm]dream,all  [C]in a dream
it was [G]too good to be [C] true
[D]Flying Mother Nature's [A]silver seed
coming  [C] back for me and [G]you

[G]Oh, the flags of  the nations  were [C]   torn   down
As the [G]banners of peace were un[C]furled
[G]Mothers and fathers, and [D]orphans and widows
Now [Cmaj7]dreamed of a peaceful [D] world
There was new [Em] hope rising up [F] from the ashes
Love’s[C]  message  in every[F] prayer,
[G]songs of redemption, [D]songs of  the heart, rang [F]  out every[C]where

all in a [Bm]dream,all  [C]in a dream
it was [G]too good to be [C] true
[D]Flying Mother Nature's [A]silver seed
coming  [C] back for me and [G]you

Graham

I am pretty sure I know what it's about.  It keeps me going in fact!

I have been teaching for almost 40 years..... and I have seen some teachers that were well loved and respected...students adored them......
yet after they retired, it was like they became " nobody"  anymore.     It's onward and upward for the young.... they forget ab out you pretty fast. Just as you wrote in the lyrics... getting old brings on a cloak of invisibilty...but not in a good way.

It's the same at family gatherings... you see the older ones  kinda pushed aside...not invited to dance on the floor, play in the game, sing in the band.....    and then that doubt creeps in about whether or not you're needed any more.  Erik Erikson referred to that as ego integrity vs. despair - I think that was what this was about.... but hey - I 've been wrong plenty of times before.

Liked it Graham....

looking forward to your recording of it, but not looking forward to my cloak at all !  sad
JIM

Phill - love it!   My mom used to always say to me  " I hope your kids are just like you, because it will be a big payback".  I always tell my kids - do as I say, not as I did!  :0)

Fantastic guitar work and engineering of the mix !  Well done my friend!

Nice one Mojo !

I must say however - you scared the crap out of me.  When I read your topic: Goodbye Steve Earle - my first reaction was holy crap - did I miss something ? Steve Earle died ?

He is one of my favorites !

Anyway, very cool  cover of the song  man!  smile
JK

Yes. Very honored that they did this.  Thought it sounded great!
Not being a real musician, I am always amazed by what you folks on Chordie can do.

Kim Noble and her friends put together this cover of my song Country Singer Blues.
I think you will be pleased.  I loved the performance and energy !
Thanks Kim et al !!
