I agree with sending for lessons.  Fins a teacher who they will connect with.  someone young and hip always works.  my 9yr old boy took lessons for a year.  now its Youtube as a teacher, but I want to send hom back as soon as I can afford it.   

Not all parents can be good teacher of their kids.  THat is why I wont coach my own kids.  Im too hard on them and wnat them to do better than I think they are doing. (+ I did not learn properly so I want him to be taught correctly.)  now he will ask me one or two things, but I dont push.  just a nudge now and again.

look at AXL strats and Rondo.  dont know what you feel like spending.   W/ a good set up and fret file (which every guitar needs no matter what) the AXLs are pretty nice for teh low cost.

Sunny, I dont know any theory, thats why I love this site.  put the chord over the word where you want the change and listen to the song and use the net to help ya!
I can send some easy  and good jam songs to you if you like.  even have some church songs on PDF.

I am the worlds worst for playing covers "the correct way".  EX:  One night 2 friends sat down, I pulled my guitar out and she asked to sing HOTEL CALIFIORNIA.  I said OK. I paly this song to the note, just slower and a slight diff rythem pattern.  It messed her up cause she went right from memory and not listening to how I played.  It took her a min or two to adjust.  Once she did, it sounded amazing!  Wish I had taped it!

Trouble is,,,, most PPL are slaves to the click.  I still am trying to master it!!  It is a must if your recording tracks, jamming with new friends.  I have found most pple are resistant to changing what they have learnt "by the book / original version"  If you can find a few ppl who encourrage you and are willing to do your way a bit,,, KEEP THEM AROUND FOREVER!

PLAY YOUR SONG.    BE YOURSELF AND FOLLO0W THE SONG IN YOUR HEART.

DON'T YOU JUST HATE IT WHEN THAT HAPPENS!  That is why you have to play with the shop amps and guitars lololol, or get them to show you what they just did.

VOX is a classic.  Fender Twins.

I am no expert, but I would imagin anything that can get great reverb and is all tube.  Whats your budget?

It comes down to finding one you likethe sound of.  Solid state will be cheeper.  Line 6 and Berhinger  make good low cost stuff.
