Hey eveyone thanks for commenting, I know that the recording itself wasn't very good, but I more or less wanted to get opinions on the song and music in general. Words on a page don't mean much until you hear them sung or spoken.

Hi Stephen ,
its a good idea to put your url alongside your new recordings. Its easier to go directly to your site.Ive listened . Your doing good. Personally i didnt like the heavy intro but thats just me. You Son, always go with what you feel is right.
Old Doll.
Yeah, I kinda came up with that seperately, and I figured I would try it out, and I think it's better to just do the acoustic strumming in the intro. Oh well, live and learn.

The vocals are slightly better than my first recording, again some parts are a little awkward, as the tracks son't mesh exactly, but I forgot to use a click track (doh) and by the time I remembered I already had most of the song done. Hope it's a little better than the first one. There will be good, final recordings of these and others up in a short time. Again, feel free to comment. Thanks!

Thanks a lot guys, I'll work on getting some songs up, and better quality too (without the awkward breaks in tracks). Yeah, now that I listen to it I think that the solo parts need an acoustic in the background. I'll be working at this one and some others, some covers too.

No I joined as an artist. The song should automatically start playing when you go on there.

Well, it's rough, as I did it quickly, and my voice isn't anything to bark about, but I recorded my first full-length multi-track song. I used an acoustic, electric, and a djembe. My myspace url is www.myspace.com/stephenhooper Please, feel free to offer constructive criticism and comments. Don't expect a lot, but please give your opinions. Thanks, Steve

I'll keep at it. I think using a handy little device called the capo might be in order.

What to do? Listening to myself isn't just bad, as I thought it would be, it's absolutely awful. What can I do to learn how to sing better?

Someone once told me "Some people will tell you that smoking marijuana is good for musical creativity. Don't believe them." I agree with the hair part. But what about Joe Satriani?

06sc500,
I like this song. Can i tell you, my Dutch brother in law is an Athiest. But he is one of lifes gentlemen, never heard him speak an unkind word about anyone in 3o years. Loves my sister and his family dearly.
Whether we believe or not, the path is love to my way of thinking. i know lots of "Crá thumpers" as we call them here. They
spend all there time at church and wouldn't support a local charity buying a one Euro ticket. HuH!
Life lessons i call them!Old Doll.
My great grandfather was the same way, never said anything bad about anyone, was a great guy, but didn't have a relationship with God. I can only hope that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior before he passed away.

When I buy I mic for recording on my computer, I need a male/female mic cable, right? Is there anything else I need, or just the mic and cable? I already have an adapter.

I'm not saying that Bush is all that great of a president, as he's no Ronald Reagan or JFK, but a lot of people try to pin the economy and stuff on him. It's been a gradual build-up over the years of American greed that has caused our problems we're facing now.

Re: You Broke the Chains (3 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Well my intent was to get a feeling of how mankind messed things up, and thus began a long dark journey through the ages denying Jesus and trying to live life as if humans are the highest power in the universe. Of course, as the chorus goes, God sent His one and only son Jesus to die on a cross for us and pay the price for the sins of the whole world.

Re: I Miss America (21 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Good idea and theme for a song, but after reading the lyrics all I see is an anti-Bush-anit-McCain/Palin-let's-get-Obama-in song. No party is perfect. It's a shame how many bitter people there are out there that think all of our country's problems are because of Bush. Guess what? We've turned from our core values, sought after money and material things rather than God, and yeah, look where we are. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure if I'm completely satisified with the lyrics, but here goes. I have a tabbed intro and solo, but I don't know how to post tabs. I wish I could sing better, and hopefully soon I'll try to record some of my stuff.

I seem to have a real problem grasping this concept. I can do it on a trombone in jazz band, but not a guitar. I don't know why, but can anyone tell me what you do when they go about soloing? Is it really necessary to know all that stuff about modes, etc? I mean, I know a little bit of music theory, but when you solo, isn't it supposed to be less mechanical and more creative? I can riff and play rythms fine, but when trying to solo, I just can seem to get in that "zone", where you are just playing the notes and everything else takes care of itself.
