How they get you is the shipping and----"handling". The handling part is probably based on

someone's hourly. I've not had any trouble shipping postal  and much cheaper.       Mike

Okay, I see there may be the possibility in the distant future the metric system will prevail. I see Bensonp point.
A 19mm wrench is just that. A 7/16, 3/8, 11/32.... a lot of fraction reducing. More numbers to deal with.
Road construction,to name one of many, went to the one hundredth system which breaks the 12 inch
foot into tenths and hundredths. One foot=10 tenths. One tenth=10 hundredths. 100 hundredths= 1 foot.
This is hard to get use to and takes time to become efficient, but it gave us a single unit for measuring.
Russell and I are talking the same here he had to take it much smaller(thousandths). This system has
been in place for years. Now that kids are being taught more in schools I can see the change coming
down the road. Part of the "new world order", or just common sense?      Mike

Hi Tony,  Interesting topic to talk on. We here in the U.S. are so use to the system we have and really

do not know any better. However it would be nice to have a world wide "common" language

to do business with so which would you choose? Metric.... because you don't know any better

right? And here.... imperial fot the same reason. Our measuring languages are just different.

Not that long ago the litre bottle, soda pop mostly, came here and oh how confusing that was.

No one could figure out why? Must be the "New World Order creeping in on us"?

I work construction(operating heavy equipment) and about 10 yrs ago I took a job on a certain

project that needed a grade checker(person that takes engineering data and lays-out this info

on the ground in actual measurements for constructing roads, buildings, etc. Anyway I didn't

know this job was drawn up using the metric system. Totally out of the "norm". During the inter-

view it was mentioned and I proceeded to tell the interviewer that I probably could figure it out

ok. Wrong! I had to convert the info so as the other workers could understand what was needed

of them. Since the job was a high pressure hurry up and get it done type I was so frustrated I

quit. Had no choice, it was more than I could handle. I could see your frustration as well.

I don't see us changing to mertic, could you see the U.K. changing? We are probably stuck in

                   this rut.lol               Mike

Hey Russell, Boy you got that right. I've been getting an unusual amount of that bull lately.and
wouldn't it be nice to see these people in person?? They are low lifes hiding behind
a computer screen. Maybe the owners of these companies would like to show their
faces? It burns me to no end. AHHHHHH.....I feel better!       Mike

Hi all, Thanks so much for all the input! We worked on this last night and the first thing we did was to ping
the speed like Doug mentioned and the result turned up slow. I think there is only one more up-
grade with the isp so this to me sounds like what Mek is referring to that the router, cable, and lap-
top are not jiving. It works for awile then kicks me off-hit repair and good again for ?? Also I'll check
the router for a booster like Wayne mentioned. Checked the battery configueration and it seems to
be where it should be, thanks Jerome. Will do all the suggested research you have given and will get
           back. Thanks again,    Mike

Hi Geoaguiar, Yes, we unplug it when going thru the trouble shooting section. I will definately get rid of

it. Can you recommend a good one or do I just dig deeper into the wallet and the problem

solved? Thanks much for your suggestion,      Mike

Hi riddler, Have had this router for a couple years. This has been an on going problem but does SEEM to
be worse. I haven't thrown it across the room........yet!  I know this is a tough question and I'm
open to your thoughts. thanks,    Mike

My neighbor just bought my Ibanez artwood model. Great guitar. Very nice playing, beautiful acoustic.
I would recommend Ibanez brand guitars. This one was in the 300$ range. The good thing is I can still
  barrow it any time.      Mike

Hi Mek, For some reason I knew you would respond and thankyou. Anyway, the router is a belkin N, mod.#

F5D8233-4v3. My laptop is an HP 1550 Special edition 2004 model. Evelyn(gf) assures me that the

the wireless is configuered correctly. I run windows XP and have been utilizing Internet Explorer but

I think you mentioned somewhere that it was crap so I went with Mozilla Firefox. It's worse. Evelyns

desktop rarely loses connection unless it's at peak hours and lots of traffic. Our cell phones are

usually nearby but...? The only other device is a Roku box for Netflix movies and it also runs off the

router but I'm never on the laptop and watching Netflix at the same time.  Thanks for your help. Mike

Hi all, Now I know alot of you out there know more about computers and the internet than I do(actually all of you),

so can anyone explain why I,m nearly always loosing an internet connection on my laptop? The GF's desk-

top is wired ethernet via the cable tv, connected to a middle of the road wireless router, and I usually sit

within 20ft of it and still lose the connection when I know it has a much greater range. We've up-graded the

internet servive to a higher speed. Thanks,    Mike

Yep, got the garden area tilled up the other day. Weather was nice for a few days but back to rain
again and here till thursday. Not nice enough for some boat fishn so am working on my 66
chevy p/u. Gotta love spring time. Looking forward to campfire picnkn and those long summer
          nights.        Mike

HI Old Doll,   Thanks for the nice comments. Landing a big ol fish is fun but so are the smaller ones. That

5 pounder was no slouch! These sturgeons get into the teens in length and will wear you arms out for

sure. That fly fishn must be a blast? I see people catching salmon and steelhead on flys. Might try it

sometime.  Fishn is soooooo relaxing and lets your mind relax also. Like you say-nothin better.

Take care and may your skillet not be lacking of fish,   Mike
