This from Paul McCartney upon hearing of George Martin's death.....

I’m so sad to hear the news of the passing of dear George Martin. I have so many wonderful memories of this great man that will be with me forever. He was a true gentleman and like a second father to me. He guided the career of The Beatles with such skill and good humour that he became a true friend to me and my family. If anyone earned the title of the fifth Beatle it was George. From the day that he gave The Beatles our first recording contract, to the last time I saw him, he was the most generous, intelligent and musical person I’ve ever had the pleasure to know.

Pretty much settles the issue.

Love the Beatles !!

Sorry for your troubles.

Guess the song should be The Soggy Bayou Blues!

Yes  - major contributor to great music.

I was angry at CNN however when the posted that he was " a major part of the BEETLES"

pretty much describes every night I try to sleep after the team I coached lost.
Funny how when there is a win... i sleep like  dog without a worry.

I might add.... my wife generally lets me know when it's time to head for the coach on such nights smile

Thanks TF    Fantastic look at life in a poem !

Ok = this is my futile attempt to play and sing this song.
funny how it sounds really good in my head, but when I play and sing it into a mic - ahhh not so good.
but anyway -  here it is and maybe one of you good players and singers can do an improved version.
I actually think of Bill singing this to Dondra smile   - since he spends so much time with her and they are in constant care of each other.

Hope you like it Bill !

Thanks for listening.

Hope she likes it Phill

I know it's probably been posted somewhere already, but I can't find it (:

When I go to my songbook, the songs there have the chord grids and are in Chord Pro display.  But when I post a song I wrote in songwriting using Chord Pro format it does not show the chord grids ( like it used too).
no do they  display   in chordpro format.

I went to " How to post a song" and re-read it - and it isn't any different directions than before.

Am I doing something wrong  or is that just one of the things they still have to adjust ?

Thanks
Jim

TF

That is awesome !!

So spot on it's incredible.

My wife tends to compare me to another friend ( bachelor)  that has a lot of $, goes all over, has beautiful cars.
My answer is always the same when she does,I simply say "  he doesn't have you or our daughters - I win!"

Thanks for sharing TF. Very good work!

Badeye,

Seriously - yesterday I actually looked at the date  icon on my computer bc I thought somehow I messed up and  it was Thursday - when you didn't have the post. up.  smile
Leadbelly is awesome - what a wild life he had. His Biography is a good read.
His song "Where did you sleep last night?" is one of my favorites - it's actually how I discovered Leadbelly.  I thought it was a  Kurt Cobain / Nirvana song - but after researching found that they just were covering good ol' Leadbelly.
Thanks for the Blues with Saturday coffee and cartoons !:)

[song]
{t: Change :  Mad Hatter Blues}

{c: performed by Phill,    he played a Dbm instead of E }

[E] Change
[E] Sometimes it feels[A7] good, sometimes it feels so [E] sad
[E] Change
[E]It makes you think and [A7]it can  drive you quite [E] mad
[B7]  it’s always  around the corner baby
Getting’ [A7]  something  new, or losin’ what you [E] had

[E] Change
[E]  hold on to the [A7] old or   build upon the[E] new
[E] Change
[E] lt’s seeing  life from  [A7] different points of [E] view
[B7]   always  around the corner baby
a game of [A7]chance, and there ain't no [E] rules

{soc}
Chorus
[A7] Changes, changes, oh changes,
Tell me now  whatcha  gonna [E] do
[B7]  gonna play a new song baby, or
[A7]keep singing  those ol’ mad hatter  [E] blues ?

{eoc}

[E] Change
[E]  it can make you laugh  and[A7]  bring you right to [E] tears
[E] Change
[E] is it hope for [A7]tomorrow or a  harbinger of [E] fears
[B7]   always  around the corner baby
the constant [A7] question   of a thousand  [E] years

{soc}

Chorus
[A7] Changes, changes, oh changes,
Tell me now  whatcha  gonna [E] do
[B7] gonna play a new song baby, or
[A7]keep singing those ol’ mad hatter  [E] blues ?

baha    - After reading the Bald Eagles post, the fishing season post, I actually thought this was going to be about trucks.
What a pleasant surprise - this band is very good.  A cross between Bonnie Raitt and Steeley Dan.

It kind of created a picture in my head of what a band from all the Chordie Contributors might look like if they ever all got together and seriously played together for a while.
Let's see - Kiki Jan and Mekidsmom singing along with Mojo,  Gil and Phill on guitar and keyboard,  Strummerboy Bill on Percussion,  Dino and Beamer on Lead,  bluejeep, TF, BGD, and whoever else I'm unintentionally leaving out playing and singing backup ,  I am sure that would be fantastic!   an organized chordiestock band:)
Thanks for sharing

Mojo
He is from my  area - Oneonta NY - His Dad used to ref my basketball games in HS
That is one of my favorite songs to play !

Always love JJW

I want to thank Per and all of the Chordie Mods for working so hard to resolve all of the bugs in the transition to the new website.

I don't know how they did it, but they restored all of the data that was missing on my songwriting posts.

I have indeed learned a valuable  lesson in this - make back ups -  even in printed form.

I must say - this is my favorite stopping place on the net-  it always has such interesting stuff from new songs, instruments, Friday Blues fix, progressive rock fix , a fantastic library of songs for a playbook, great information  regarding a thousand topics, chordiestock, NGD's,  and the list goes on and on........

however - for me - the best part is the personal touches - what great people reside on chordie!
Thanks to all.

I just watched demos of it - its pretty amazing
My draw back is that - with my bad singing - instead of one bad singer there would be 3 or 5
sad
Thanks for sharing though = it is pretty cool
