TF
Thanks  lol  - that was my intent -  surprise -  just like the message of the song.  I'm still not sure on the chords  -each time I play it  i get second thoughts  ( must be the twerking ! smile )

If any one has improvement suggestions on anything feel free to let me know - I know its not quite right , but then again - neither am I :^(

Easybeat

Nice stuff buddy !!   I agree with Phill - hard to teach own kids guitar or anything smile

Topdown
I have to vehemently disagree with your assessment that Robert is worst dressed....
any man that has a beer, cool shades, a great guitar, a "cowbell" , and a "girlie" calendar on the wall -  in his picture- could never be mistaken as worst dressed. Not to mention wearing an apron sized perma-napkin just in case some shows up with some great saucy chicken wings- always good to be prepared ! smile

Best wishes and improving health for you both !!
Good to hear from you !

Chordie is just not the same when you're not here ! smile

Jim

Phill performed this rendition of the song I wrote.

I could never be able to do what he does to a song.

Thanks so much to him for his time, energy, insightfulness and passion

I hope you like it as much as I do.

K.I.R.    That is hysterical !

I was thinking along the same lines :

Dear Santa,
Can I have a good voice that sounds like singing ?

And not  to be greedy - I 'd like a couple of those cells your dropping off at Keep It Real's house.... that way I could remember the words to more than two complete songs - other of course than Happy Birthday and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer ! smile

But I will forego everything if you can   bring some peace and comfort to Bill and Dondra - they deserve it.

I too have been comparatively good.

Jim

Lucky

I "chordified" itfor you - here is the link - has the chords and you can play along

wow !!!    I listened to the " Last of the Mohicans" rendition - I think just as powerful.   it would take me a lifetime of practice to be able to play just one song like that. He is amazing.

Thanks for the share

ahhhh  ..... Phil

can't wait till you put out the song for Bill..... I am sure it will be a classic !

AS far as the inspiration... consider this -  YOU are inspiring to many of us.

I have found that when badeye or Bill send us  to the hit of the week - there a lot of other really unusual but cool songs and performances on the list next to whats playing. I generally troll down through till I find something that strikes me  - then try to figure it out chordwise. Like Leadbelly, Robert Johnson, Django Reihnhart, TBone Walker, JL Hooker- Those guys can play !!  etc...  (I'm pretty limited as to what chords I can play - and I don't play lead, but you have both capabilities. )

I'm not sure after reading all that you do that you would have the time to that though.   just sayin - it works for me.

If I were to have you do a song of mine it would be they one that you helped so much on -   Heaven's Door Survivor.  There has never been any mutilation to my knowledge of any song produced by you, i've enjoyed them all.   Everything you change  has a magical touch to it somehow.

Take time to relax and hope something soon moves you to something musically magnificent.

I like it, and it is very good just the way it is.........but I think as our good friend Phill says -- "a song's gotta have a chorus!"

I'm certainly not a expert by any means ( not even close)  , but I really think it has to have some kind of change somewhere - but that's just me and I could be waaaaayyyyy  off ! smile

I was playing your version...probably nothing like you play it... but a couple of verses popped in my head:

Here are my thoughts....

[F]Two steps forward and one step back
[C]the more I try, the more I lack
[F]Two steps forward and one step back
It’s [G] got my whole [F]world out of [C]whack

or maybe

[Cadd9]Money, money don’t  you do this to me
[F] I’m so down I can hardly breathe
[C] Money money  won’t you set me free
[G]From this debt that’s [F]come over [C]me.

I think either might fight in - at least it does how i Play it.

If you don't like 'em - trash 'em  that's ok - hell - it's your song ! :  smile

your message is very good as you can tell because it really gets one to thinking about how impactual $$$$$$$$$$$$$ or the lack of can be.    Thanks for the great tune.

Good luck trout fishing ! smile

Awesome !

You can't make this stuff up - it is what makes the best writing.

Makes us all realize that sometimes what we take for granted is what we will miss the most when its gone.

Life's too short to spend time arguing over the small stuff - enjoy it and those you love while you can

Great poem, beautifully written - and I agree - leave the music out - its too good as as it is.

Thanks Beestie for sharing !

Phill

I found this site on youtube... it has some really good progressions.... when I played along (especially the later ones) I got lots of ideas for songs flying in my head.    Maybe it will do the same for you.

If nothing else, take one of my songs and record it with your spin on it - they always seem to  turn out great.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dsZNku58F6Q

it is a half step down in G   - not standard tuning , - but I played in standard and it still sounded decent.

I added a third verse ( see change above through my edit)  - it seemed that it wasn't complete without it.

Hope you like it.

Graham

very nice.   First of all - you remind me of Eric Clapton in this performance !!

Secondly, - I was wondering at first about the angle you playing your guitar, then later saw the slide on finger and the resonator guitar -  awesome !!!

Lastly - I'm an idiot for detail when I watch video from all my years of coaching -   who is the guy in the white suit in the picture(painting)  - I saw it in the reflection of the mirror by the bass player. It reminded me of Colonel Sanders of KFC  smile

anyway - a really nice practice session - I wish I could come see you live on stage someday !!

Jackson Hole is awesome  -  I was there last year !  Fireart is most fortunate to live there!!  It might seem like a whole lot of nothing because you are looking for the wrong things smile

Unclejoe - how did you make this map... pretty cool.
