I use Fast Fret on my strings, which also has lemon oil in it, I believe. It certainly seems to do a good job at keeping the strings clean and sounding bright, but of course it tends to get on the fretboard as well - so I just slacken the strings a bit to allow me to treat the fretboard all over. Then I clean it off with the cloth provided. It's more to keep the fretboard clean than to "treat" it in any way...

I can probably drop in for an hour or so - let me know what date you decide on...
Cheers!

That's a damn good idea! I'm way down in the South East corner of the UK, so also pretty tricky to get to and find. The distances involved here are next to nothing compared to the US, but with our antiquated road network, and volume of traffic, it takes just about forever to get anywhere! The other consideration is the weather, which has been pretty poor for the last few summers - it's hard to plan anything more than a few days in advance.
Is there anyone else out there (in the UK) who might be able to host??

Great stuff, Jeff! I'm sure that Jamming and Cow will be abundant...
The 27th July is a "big" birthday for my wife (although she's trying to pretend it's not happening) - if I was away in the US I might as well not go home again...

Just for fun I checked on flights to SYR in late July - all around the £800 ($1200) mark! So will maybe save up for 2014, unless I can get a last minute bargain...

Hope there is some sort of medical answer to that, it sounds just awful. All the best...

Thanks Roger - will certainly try to get to the gig!

Would love to be able to come and see you and the family, Amy, but not sure I will have the funds to go anywhere long-haul this Summer! Perhaps I should just start saving up for 2014? But have a great time (with plenty of dead cow) whatever happens!

Gtx - how big is a Baby Taylor? Is it 3/4 size? I only have dreadnaughts, so no chance of being allowed to carry on, I would think. I have a good hard case, so wouldn't mind it being hold baggage, as long as I'm not charged a silly amount for it!
Roger - what are the most popular places (Brit-wise) on the Algarve? In other words, Portugal's version of Benidorm!

Also (Roger) - I really must get to meet Joao one of these days! He lives locally, and has had a few gigs in Hastings, but I've never been able to get to one yet. He has one coming up soon, so will make the effort this time!

Good news is - I have a hard case!
Roger - I was thinking of the Costa Del Sol because there are so many "British" bars in a small-ish area. Quite a hellish place, really, but the more bars, the better for me, possibly! I didn't really think that the Algarve was like that - are there some really touristy areas? Anyway, will have a go at recording some stuff and see how it sounds...
Thanks for the tips so far - keep 'em coming!

More of a question for the Brits on here, but any input is welcome. I am thinking of taking my guitar off to Spain with me (probably Costa Del Sol - which I know quite well), just for a holiday, really, but thought I might tout my musical services around the many British bars in the area & see if any of them might employ me! Just for fun, really - if there is no work to be had, then at least I can just relax in the sun. Any tips for finding this sort of work also much appreciated!
I know that the low-cost airlines here tend to charge heavily for extra baggage - so which airlines are more co-operative in this regard? I have also thought of taking the coach to Spain, but this is probably quite hellish!
Cheers!

I was only able to drop in for an hour or so, but it was a lot of fun, and gave me a good excuse to drink beer at home... Thanks for the kind words, Astro, I really enjoyed hearing you, too!
Cheers, until next time...

Have you started yet? Still trying to find my webcam!

Will try and join you tonight if possible! Not sure if that start time is 8pm or 9pm over here, but will check in at some time...
Cheers!

Yes, it is very pretty! It was a secondhand buy, though, so has a few marks on the front (no pickguard). I haven't had much luck getting pics on here, but may put a couple on Faceb**k...

Happy NGD! I am very fond of Godin guitars myself - my S & P Pro flamed maple is the best guitar I've ever had...

Sounds pretty good to me - have a great weekend!

I took the Dark Side CD into my son's room (he's 14) & said - "Load this onto your ipod and listen on headphones." Of course, he didn't. Kids know nothing...

Yep, especially when I play "Substitute"!

Tyson - will try this, if I can work it out on my tuner!
BGD - that's a good tip. I often have to adjust the bass E string when I put a capo on, - it seems to go slightly sharp.

Welcome to Chordie, Spike! It really is like a family on here, without that annoying Uncle. Or maybe not. Perhaps it's me! Who knows...
Cheers!
