Russell & Dino

Thanks for taking the time to give me some info.

I looked up the Digitech Trio..... seems like it's what I want, but there were quite a few negative reviews on Amazon for it - along with the usual rave reviews.   I was just wondering if you have actually used it and could give me an honest review .  $ 179 is what they are asking  for it and I don't want to spend that if it is not a good product. With my second daughter getting married within a year, money is pretty tight. smile

Thanks

Jim

Easybeat....

thanks

I had no Idea that I was going to write that song.....    I was driving down the road the other day listening to the radio (Outlaw Country on Sirius)   and a song by Ray Wylie Hubbard came on called Conversation with the Devil.  It had that little riff in it and it got stuck in my head. All day I kept playing it in my head.  Next morning the dogs woke me up at 5:10 am and so I was sitting on my porch with my Martin Series X and decided to learn how to play that riff. Finally figured it out --- probably would have taken anyone else on Chordie about a minute, but for me it was quite a while.  So as I was practicing it - i was trying to voice with   it and then words started popping in my head.  Playing and writing are my release from my crazy teaching and coaching pressures. I teach HS Social Studies as well as being the  athletic director and coaching three sports . I'm not a very good player and definitely not a singer - but I do enjoy writing.  Glad you liked it.

Where do you find   drum loops to use ?    I have been trying to figure out how to use "audacity" ( not very successfully I might add) .   I wanted to add some drum to my songs when I record, but can't figure out where to get the loops or how to put them in ( even if I do find them) . smile   Appreciate any help or advice you have.
Jim

added one more verse

Tweaked it a bit.

God be with anyone that has to deal with this piece of shit disease

Congrats Mom and dad - that is a great picture!
The greatest of all gifts - an innocent, tabula rosa newborn.
Wishing you a lifetime of enjoyable moments with her.

Although I'm sure Steven Tyler sang this about a woman he loved, I always vision it as a father looking down at a little newborn.

well - it ain't Friday, but I love this blues song so I thought I'd make a contribution.    I was riding my bike today and at the 10 mile point this came on my headphones- exhaustion went out the window and all sorts of energy filled me. I peddled like crazy to this song.  Thought I;d share it now. Enjoy the Vaughn bros. in Texas

Thanks for the enlightenment - I have never even heard of this instrument before.    These guys playing - Relentless- are ridiculous -    I can't imagine the time that they put in to get to that level of performance. - That is incredible.  Way too advanced for me.

Very nice.   I do the same sitting on my porch ... just listening to life.  Spring is awesome - everything comes to life. I particularly love to watch the parents of the birds as they prepare for, and take on childhood responsibilities. It's amazing.
Thanks for the  poem.

My wife wanted me to play harmonica instead of the guitar - that way I couldn't sing along smile
I got one as a gift  and actually found a really nice looking one -  both still is unplayed as I have no friggin ' clue how to play it - and I'm not putting the one I found in my mouth without sanitizing it. .
I kind of agree with Phill as well in that it won't belong before it's Chinese or in North America - Espanol.
AS for the beer.....
almost any one will do as long as I'm with my friends and having a good time. I happen to be a fan of Killian's Red .

I have enjoyed the conversations in this thread - you guys are a riot!

Joe,

excellent writing again !!

funny how we all see different lines as  " the one"   or the hook

I like the line " like a broken toy I just sit  on the shelf"

you are a very talented lyricist with terrific insight !

I have a martin custom X series  - matte finish  acoustic electric.   It has a very unique sound - I love it.  But I will admit, I love my Alvarez RD-20 SC    much better .    I said in another post somewhere... I really believe the guitar picks the player, not viceversa - you just know when you've got the right one. ( Probably the reason we all keep buying them ! smile

awesome - I'll email you  TY

Bensonp,
I just listened to your cover of Daydream by Lovin Spoonful    one of my favoite all time songs.  You are extremely talented and have a very nice Martin there.   I enjoyed the song a lot.  Your voice is awesome.... I would love it if you did a rendition of the above song. What do you think ?

I agree with Phill,  this is very well done.  Nice voice, nice playing, great changes through the song - but I too found myself locked into the video.  I kept thinking three things: 1) wonder what all those people shown are doing now and what would they say to me if they saw their picture ?  2) Am I gonna see someone I recognize ?    3)  Whatever ended that hippie culture ?   ( my guess is they needed to get jobs eventually)

I really enjoyed watching this - about 5 different times so far.

Thanks for sharing
Jim

First - Everybody should check out Joe's ( MOJO) song - recently posted and re- mastered - it is awesome !

After hearing it and reading the lyrics, I could not get that line out of my head!!
However as it ran around crazy in my brain all morning, suddenly - - an epiphany -   a new meaning popped in my head.
I got the metaphoric message that had been bothering me.  I wrote some stuff down and it started making sense to me.

HOWEVER, I must point out that  within Joe's song there were a couple of terrific lines that I needed to borrow because not only did they fit, they were awesome thoughts from my perspective.
Not wanting to be a (lyric) pirate ( which ironically what his song was like smile )  I emailed Joe to explain my ideas and asked permission to use his words and adapt some of his thoughts to my theme.  He granted me permission, which was ever so kind - Thanks again Joe !!

So anyway - i attempted to use some of Joe's ideas mixed with mine -  to write about a terrible disease - Alzheimers !

I know that several Chordians have mentioned it in discussions.  I tried to imagine being on the inside looking out.  I tried to put a couple of metaphors in myself - but still - Joe's line is the King - to me it describes it perfectly - "The Creek don't run by my cabin no more !"

As you all know - I am not a singer,  so it won't appear in audio unless someone else does it for me ( hint, hint smile  )

So here it is - hope you like it - and again THANKS SO MUCH to MOJO for his inspiration and kindness to allow me to borrow his thoughts.
