strats are like fords....you get good uns, and you get not so good uns. i like my telecaster, i haven't played my strat since i bought it.

gibsons i find have flat wide necks which my hands (or my wallet) dont seem to like very much!

guitars are in the eye of the beholder, you can play (or buy) any lump of wood, and if you dont know any better, it's the best thing in the world, till you find your soul mate (as i have) the only thing i miss is the body shaping of the strat...when you get a belly like me, it comes in very handy when you've lost where you were.

i was also 11 at the time. i remember it well as i recall my mother saying "that's it then, world war 3" she was wrong, thank god

i don't remember much else about 1962, except my father taking us on a trip to the gower peninsular and on the way back the road was flooded due to spring tides so we had to take the long way round. if it wasn't for that i might have missed the only playing of "my bonnie" on radio luxemburg or any other station till the beatles got famous....my claim to fame

Thanks to you all for your fab comments, but really all it means is that all the breakables I put out again when my kids grew up, I have to put back up the attic!

But seriously, I'm going to try once again to get some pics up-loaded to my space so you can all see how beautiful this baby is. (There may be a little altruism there)

hi elliot,

on the cheap....right! do you have a web-cam? if so you can usually use that for recording you wont even need a recording program as web cams usually have their own. it's a cheap fix and if you like the results you may want to progress. but before you go laying out your inheritance, check out the recording forum where you'll get all the info for what to get to make yourself sound professional.

ps welcome

srangely enough i was just watching mccartney in new york on tv, they cut in some footage from the original shea stadium concert. all i can say is he's still brilliant, the songs are still brilliant and he can still sing after 40 + years. he has to be 70 something now? it's just a shame lennon and harrison didn't make it. guess they're still jamming on some cloud!

This isn't really a poem, just poetic justice.

Smile.      Phill Williams.

I have been told;

When you smile it brightens the day.

Your smile melts my heart.

Until you smiled I felt so ill.

When you smiled we all smiled with you.

When you smiled I felt my knicker elastic twang.

I have a false smile;

Thanks for giving way, but I was coming through anyway.

“We'll just round it up to the nearest pound.” But that will cost me another 10 pence!

Sorry, this lift is full. The smile that says OK, you swine!

There's the “brave face” smile, but I'm crying inside.

There's the “I'm no wimp” smile – when the handshake is too tight.

“What a lovely child” smile. If he was mine I'd bash him!

And the “hard day's night smile” - I drove 2 hours to get here. I stood 3 hours on your stage and I have another 2 hour drive home, SO LEAVE ME ALONE, I DON'T WANT TO TALK!

My “thanks but I don't believe you” smile.

That was the best show we've had here in years.

You play the guitar better than Santana.

When I grow up I want to be just like you.

When you smiled I felt my knicker elastic twang. (reprise)

And my genuine smile;

Hi Daddy, here's your new granddaughter.

Thanks, here's your money, I put a little extra in...

It's sunny day. It's a long open road (and I'm the only car on it) which cuts through some of the worlds most beautiful countryside. And Abbey Road is playing (too loudly) on my CD.

Now that's a genuine smile.

i've always thought of necks as either the FENDER NECK or the GIBSON NECK! the Fender being rounded and the Gibby flat, which i can't stand and is the reason i've never had one. but thanks for the info, it just goes to show that it doesn't matter how old you are (61) or how long you've been playing (46 years) there's still more to learn...let the music play on...play on

i always switch off when i'm done, but when i'm on, i regularly get the flash that roger guppy is on line, funny though, no one else on my list. and i keep getting "add me to your list" requests from people i dont know! so i dont...you never know who they may be? if you want me to accept, send me a message telling me who you are, and getting your boobs out wont help either...(you can try if you like) there is far too much phishing, virus spreading, fraud and identity theft to be too obliging to these opportunists.

i didnt mean to embarrass you or pick you up roger, it's just something we've all done though as you say, i wouldn't be able to read anything that small now.

ah, learning the words of a new song...the bane of my existence! i'm trying to remember the words to since you been gone...the rainbow version, just love it.

i love gardening so much i planted a garden shed, then another, so that i only have room left for a small lawn.....job done!

on a more serious note; i detest thieves, what they do is true violation. we returned from a holiday in turkey, a few years ago, and we had a car full of gifts, but someone decided they had a better use for them and took the lot! when they opened the bags and found out what they were they probably just dumped them down an alley....

Hi Judy,

Wow! deep or what? Welcome to Chordie by the way, having read both your offerings I can only say wow! deep or what? Very thought provoking and as with your second poem, shows how deeply you are in love with the person you wrote about, hope you visit us a lot and give views on members offerings and of course give us more of what you've given as samples.

Kudos, Phill

hi xx, i've made a start that might get you going at least

the intro goes; A-Em7-G-(?) X2

VERSE; A-Bm7-D-A-E

CHORUS; E-F#m-D-A-E

something in this vein anyway, it needs work and it's a start

hi dino, & bud,  sorry it's taken so long to reply.

thanks bud the title just popped into my head as i was writing the song. as for hearing it, i've been having lots of trouble with my new PC, i've had to change sounds cards 2x, and since my recording studio was for windows 95, windows 7 wont even look at it! i'm trying to down load songs but they dont seem to come through for some reason. i'll get there eventually....i hope
thanks again
