my pc is about to expire RIP. So knowing we have some techsavvy people on here I thought I might get some advice. are mini computers as good or better than tower desktops? to be used for day to day stuff and recording multitrack music. I would be grateful for any advice. thanks

thanks Jim. As I recall from watching TV with my kids "wowsers" was inspector Gadget's catch phrase. I thought it was an American thing not knowing it was an Antipodean thing!
Sorry to hear about your niece, hope she takes heart from your song and advice. I sort of guessed what you meant by door I just wanted to be sure...cowboy chords?

I'd love to meet up face to face one day. We had snow last week, it was measured in millimetres and disappeared before lunch.

Hi jim. Love your verses but I don't get the first line of your chorus. And what are wowsers? I'm not being critical here just trying to understand what you're trying to say.

Your verses are so poetic and it's great how you transfer from she to you for the choruses. I havent tried playing it yet, still early morning.

Amen father Ted. Only one house? Apart from next door there are at least 4 houses in a street of around 50 houses that are actually dealing and Several more that are using! I got a knock late one night from a dubious looking character who asked if I was selling " tram?" I thought he was talking about model trains, I can't help being naive!  In the next street where there is an on-going drug den there was a house being used as a cannabis farm. The cops couldn't ignore it as the stink was unbearable. I know in some countries cannabis is legal and I have no problem with its medical use, but it has been scientifically proven to cause serious mental problems and a stepping stone for harder drugs. I've seen too many lives wasted through addiction.

And so we end this transmission from the church of selfritiousness

Amen

Thank you my brother from another mother, well translated there! It is actually closer than that as the boy lived next door to me and the family are all druggies. It is believed he was delivering some stuff when he hit the man who is not out of the woods just yet, so he could still be done for man slaughter or murder...? You wouldn't expect stuff like this to happen in this small town but drugs, taking and dealing are rife and the Uthorities do little or nothing about it but if you park on double yellow lines.....

Question: why do my replies to you always turn into sermons? Lol

This song is a true story; a local boy riding an illegal motor bike with no license the wrong way down a one way street hit a 90+ man then ran away and left the old guy in the street with multiple fractures and other injuries. He was caught and is waiting trial. I was noodling on the bass and I found the riff, and later the words came tumbling out and later still I realised what I was writing about. It's a bit rocky.

No Way Out.Undefined

[D] I've been sleeping, in a bush.

Cats and foxes, come take a look.

[G] Running away, been on my mind.

[D] Cant leave, what I'd leave behind.

[A] I cant stay. I cant [C] go.

[Eb] What can I [D] do?

[D] There's a crime, been in my head.

There's somebody, I left for dead.

[G] In the road, well I just ran.

[D] Had to go, while I still can.

[A] I cant stay. I need to [C] go.

[Eb] What can I [D] do. There's no way [A] out?

(CHORUS)

Well there's [G] nothing, left for me. To stay [D] here for.

And there's [G] nowhere, I can go, to ease my [A] mind.

And shed that [Bb] load. [A]

So I've been [D] hiding, out of sight.

Wont see me, in broad day light.

[G] While the heat, is on the street.

[D] Laying low, cool my heels.

I cant [A] stay. I cant [C] go.

[Eb] What can I [D] do, there's no way [A] out?

(CHORUS > SOLO> CHORUS)

I look [D] this way. There's no way out.

I look that way. There's no way out.

Look behind [G] me. They're on my tail.

Look [D] around me. I'm going to jail

I cant [A] stay. [C] Nowhere to go.

[Eb] What can I do. There's no way [D] out?

Cracker Jeff with some "interesting" rhymes.  I'll give it a listen later as I'm running out of battery. Ps, I prefer my apples fresh off the tree and pastry gives me heart burn, other than that great song.

Yo! Jimbo, lovely heartfelt words. Have to say you know how to put a song together. I dare say a recording won't be far behind?

Jan I enjoyed both recordings. Stray cats was by a band called stray cats, coincidence?  Great rendition by the way. Yellow bird if I remember correctly was by MIcky and Griff?. The only part I thought was too high was the outro. I normally find that when I sing in the house I tend to restrict my voice so as not to cause neibours earache! Best way to record your voice is to stand up ànd forget the locals.

As for my recordings I play all the instruments my self, the horns are from the horn section on my keyboard. Thanks.

Nice one Graham brought an 18th century folk song up to date, loved the clapping reference and the dole whi h wasn't available back then. Sounds great with the mandolin.

Pedr it sounds really bad out there but it takes tragedy to formulate a brilliant piece of work like this. Well done and keep yourself and Maree  safe.

here is my entry for FSOM it's called Caribbean Dream it's reggae and I've just finished recording it, it's a full recording not stripped down. It has fruit and a mode of transport in it. Hope you (the members) like it. ta.

Grah, I overworked my voice a few years back over a Christmas time doing 3_4 hour sets. By new year's eve my voice was just a croak by midnight and remained so for around three months! All I can tell you is water, salt, sugar and bicarb, gargle often. Keep away (ironically) from crisps and salty foods on gig nights and build up slowly, and keep away from Sweet Caroline lol

Nice one Graham, sounds like the voice is holding up well and getting stronger. Rock on Tommy!

Dear madisoncarr325 first off this is a music site for discussing music or playing musical instruments or writing song. It's not an information site for budding website builders. For that try searching "how to..." On Google.

WOW Jim, you made so many references to other songs there and some iffy rhymes, made me laugh until it got a little serious in the middle. You have a fertile imagination.

Jan, by adding an account; Jan1 and Jan2 you can keep both accounts going, just make sure you put the right link in when you offer your many fans to have a listen. I think there are some other sites similar to SoundCloud and YouTube I haven't bothered for so long I can't help with their address. Do a little search and let us know. I wonder if Per would or could create a music hosting site?

Here is a line to get the ball rolling, hope that's what you mean?

Is the world falling apart
Or is that my broken heart?
I felt my soul being captured
By the tongue of a giant aardvark

Far away a pangolin
Played songs on his violin
Aboard an old West stagecoach
Accompanied by a mandolin

Apples pears and grapes were peeled
While spacemen threw away their seeds
Upon a giant rocket ship
No human meant to see

Hi Jan, yes that would be great, chordies own recording web page! I don't post much to SoundCloud or YouTube these days as I don't get much, if any reactions. And as you say SoundCloud want money for holding your songs. I just get into my account and delete my older songs or the ones I don't like freeing up space to put newer ones in. Give that a try?

Hi Cork-92

I cant see any reason why you'd cause any damage to your speakers always assuming they are rated high enough to accept the signal. Obviously you'd need volume control on the monitors as fold back would be lower than out going sound otherwise defeating the object of monitors. I played guitar through my PA for a while until I came to play a big gig where I had to turn up a lot. After that I used my guitar amp for convenience and peace of mind. If you're putting the whole band, albeit acoustic guitars and vocals, you'll need to keep and eye on the mix. Hope this helps.

I've been wrong all my life it seems, but no plan to change...sorry

My favourite subject in school was history, but I think I got most of my education after I left and began working. Self educating and having informative discussions with friends and just about anyone with knowledge to share. To be honest I love the English language even though it's a mongrel language that is still developing as everything must or become "Latin" a dead language spoken by the educated few. I'm not over incensed by poetry even though I sometimes feel the need to scribble some verse. I'll let you know how I get on with your new opus. Farewell, live long and prosper.

One question Jim, what does "jusing" mean?

That is a very poetic and lyrical song my friend. Seems that book has had a deep affect on you as you have displayed a different style of writing. As it's Sunday I won't be able to try it today but I'll let you know how I get on.
