Hi Phil,

Thanks for the clarifiation. As you now realise Pere is the only person able to do this.

I do know that at the moment, since the changes to Chordie, he is extremely busy. I am certain he will have seen your request and may, or may not, be able to comment at the moment.

Rest assured that it will be noted and remembered. Just as the sorting of songbook by amount of editing has just come into being after being mentioned weeks ago.

Even though on the surface the Forum seems little changed since the update, there are many things that are different behind the scenes and I would think that Pere will want to make sure that it is all running smoothly before making changes.

I hope that makes the situation a little clearer.

Thank you,

Roger

Hi Jeff,

You are a romantic and a big softy, just like me, so I really like this one.

With just three chords anyone can play it so I "Badeyed" it even before writing this.

Thank you,

Roger

Hi Wormproof101,

I agree that the 1,2,3 fingering is the easiest however it is worth noting that all fingers do not have to be immediately behind the fret, they are normally angled.

Finger 3 (on the B string) is close to the fret and finger 1 (on the D string) is furthest away from the fret.

This gives a little more room and your fingers are not quite so cramped.

Roger

Hi Phil,

I am a little unsure of what you are asking here. If you have an amusing story to relate about Electric, Acoustic, Songwriting etc. then post it in the appropriate section.

If you think there should be a new section for things unrelated to music then post a message in About Chordie or e-mail Pere at admin@chordie.com if you wish to make a private request.

If by 'funny' you mean things that should not be happening on Chordie then again a posting in the apprpriate section or an e-mail to Pere is the way to go.

If I have completely misunderstood you may I apologise in advance. Please feel free to e-mail me if I can be of assistance.

Hello Stickyfingers,

Welcome to Chordie. I regret to inform you that Chordie does not host any songs, it is a search engine and there are legal reasons why copywritten songs cannot be posted here. There is more detailed information in the resources to help you.

The exception of course, is songs you have written yourself, these can be posted in the Songwriting section of the forum for other members to enjoy and comment upon.

Enjoy Chordie,

Roger

Hi Snowden,

Visitors to MySpace cannot make comment or send messages. As with most sites (including Chordie) you have to be a member and be signed in to do so.

As you can see Adam has found his way home.

Seriously the avatars seem to have all been deleted in some way and they just need reloading.

Hello Johncross21,

We all have our different ways of getting out of a rut and it is interesting seeing the ways that others do it. Since I have been visiting Chordie my way is to go to the Songwriting section and find a song that someone has posted and give it a bash.

As the song is not known, all you have are the chords, you can put your own interpretaion of style, tempo and melody to it without any preconceived ideas. There is no right or wrong. At the end you have achieved something unique as I can almost certainly guarantee that your version will be completely different to the composer's.

James's "One OF These Days" has turned out to be one of my favourite songs and I play it regularly.

Hello theclam,

May I welcome to you to the Chordie forum as this is your first posting here, although if you have a songbook you have been using Chordie a while.

In answer to your question - edit away. Any editing you do in your songbook stays there. It is available for others to see if you make it public but it does not alter the original song.

Alterations to an original song are only made by opening it and clicking on the 'correct this song' tab at the bottom of the page.

Thank you Pere,

I for one am very pleased to see this addition and I will now be able to use the public songbooks far more efficiently.

Hi David,

Although this is a little short and could benefit from from some extra lines, it is a very good effort for your first song. Mind you I do have certain reservations about someone who can get addicted to Big Brother lol

Well done and thank You

Grimreefer wrote:

Sorry, but I have to disagree on the 'Tears in Heaven' bein' easy. You MUST play the bass notes (fingerpick) for this song to sound good. No dis intended, just a thought.

With respect, I have to completely dissagree with Grimreefer. All the best artists put their own stamp on a song and do not blindly try to copy the original.

Two songs that I thought could never be bettered were Judy Garland's "Over The Rainbow" and Sting's "Fields Of Gold". Many artists tried and failed until along came the late Eva Cassidy whose interpration of these songs is very different and, in my opinion, far superior to the originals.

It is illegal to post copywritten lyrics to Chordie and Chordie can be closed down if this is done. A couple of lines however is permissible to allow you to seek assistance.

Please read the 'sticky' at the start of this section for clarification.

Thank you,

My little friend, Adam Ant, seems to have got himself lost within the Chordie layrinth along with all the other avatars.

If anyone finds them please send them home.

Hi Ken,

You are of course right you do not have to transfer to your songbook first.

However the advantage of doing so is you can edit it and check it at your leisure to make sure that all your corrections are right before you edit the original. This eliminates the chance inadvertantly putting in a new error by working straight on the original.

Hi Saba,

I am, I think, a little older than MHerbert, and strangely my early playing experience in the UK  is very similar to his in Canada.

This was during the 60's I think one of the big difference between then and now is that, in my day, if there was a dance to be held and it was going to be to records then hardly anybody turned up. If a live group (band) was playing then the dance hall was packed even if the group was only mediocre. There was therefore more incentive to form a group. It is a shame but nowadays nearly every dance is to records, they even invented a new name for it - 'a Disco'.

Hello Saba,

Those lyrics are very moving I do hope that you have some chords or are working on some for this song.
