Topic: Random request - grayling fishing in the UK! (2 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Very random, but I know there are a few fishermen out there! I've always wanted to catch a grayling, but they are not that widespread in the UK. I have an idea that there are some in Derbyshire, and I will be there over Christmas. Any ideas? Or any other places (in the UK) I could try??
Cheers!

Re: Musician I know (11 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Cool story, zguitar! I am also lucky enough to know a pro musician, and have sung and played guitar with her - the lovely Claire Hamill. She was first discovered at the age of 17, and touted as the English Joni Mitchell. If you check out her Wikipedia page you will see that, apart from her solo (singer/songwriter) stuff, she has worked with John Martyn, Procol Harum, Jethro Tull, Wishbone Ash, King Crimson and Barclay James Harvest. One of her own songs "You Take My Breath Away" was recorded by Eva Cassidy. There is a lot of her music on Youtube as well. She also runs the choir that I sing in, so I see her every two weeks, which is always a treat - apart from being a great musician, she is such a warm, fun, caring and modest lady. OK, so I may have a little crush, possibly! I'm only human...

Well done Jeff, sounds like you really enjoyed it! Toney is obviously a gentleman of the first order, too. I hope to get to Florida one day, and will try to go and see Toney play. Would really like to meet up with you as well, if possible!
Cheers!

I've tried similar sites in the UK, but quickly lost interest (and some money). It just seems to be another form of gambling, not an auction site at all...

It's a must! But I think it should expand into The Shenandoh River Festival! The campsite, facilities and organisation (thanks to Zurf) were all first class - if you can possibly get there for the next one, you won't be disappointed. I also like the idea of Chordie Jams elsewhere - Florida would be rather nice during the Winter months! Toney?

Re: Ugh. (19 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I haven't looked at this forum for some time, so I had no idea what a can of worms I seem to have opened up! Zguitar is correct - I do have a lot more years playing experience than Zurf, about 30yrs to be precise! I feel like I should be much more advanced than I am. Basically, I have no idea (on a technical level) what I'm doing - it's pretty much basic chords. But I try to add in a bit of the melody here and there to glue it all together. I tend to work on a song until there is some sort of flow to it, without too many clunkingly obvious chord changes - some songs never get to this stage! We all have a style that comes more naturally to us, I think. When I try to play in other styles myself, it's usually really hard work!
Keep at it, Mr Z, you will get there!
