D D U D U D D U
is what I heard.
If the Mayans were able to figure out when the end of the world was going to be, wouldn't they have been able to figure out how to not go extinct?
This is just too cool.
If you don't know who he is, look it up. Sitar virtuoso, taught George Harrison to play it, father of Norah Jones. Not music I would listen to everyday, but sorta cool.
Welcome Amii,
It sounds like you are new to guitar, so we'll start there. Pick a song that you want to play and check for a lesson on youtube. For example let's look at Last Kiss by Pearl Jam.
Here is a vid lesson(from an awesome teacher I might add)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijv063fRC-k
Strum we use is DDU UDU or 12& &4&. You would play this whole pattern for each chord.
DDU UDU DDU UDU DDU UDU DDU UDU
G Em C D
Here's another vid I found helpful:

Remember that there is no 1 strumming pattern that is correct for a given song. Variations are what make things cool.
Post back if you need more help
Convert your garage into a music room. Problem solved!
It sounds like you're only learning to play licks and riffs. To feel accomplishment you need something with substance. Maybe try picking up an acoustic. Learn some rhythm and then add some lead to it. At this point I only play acoustic and it is really cool to look back at how hard I thought something was in the beginning. I have hit a plateau but I find myself trying harder and diff tings to keep me going.

Well put. I always wondered what the difference is between a christian E chord and a secular E chord.
The secular E chord is actually a variation. If you look it up in a chord chart is will show E/vil. Like an Esus or E/B chord.
Sorry, I couldn't resist. There's no meaning behind it. I was just going for a laugh. Sort of on the heels of Jerome and Beamer.
Well said Jerome!!!
Way to go Scott!!!! Let these young kids know what good music is.
Homework done - YAY!
Shopping - Booooo!
Ice cream - YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this is why lions eat their young! ![]()
I agree with 'Nom. I try to tell my son that everything he does or doesn't do affects someone else. So as a result of your daughter not getting her homework done, the rest of the family has to kick around the house and bail on plans that were made. I can totally see the flip side like Zurf said. Left to their own devices, it most likely won't get done. If you read the Dad contract, the word "Sacrifice" is in bold print. It's a fact of life.
Maybe it'a a blessing in disguise. You'll get caught up on stuff now so you can play another day.
I think he is over exaggerating a little. Look at his middle finger. See how it's angled? He is pushing his palm towards the left to get his pinky way out there. That's why the tips are together but not where his fingers meet his hand. Try it, I did the same thing.
Found this while checking out the news headlines.
I sold all my guitars this week except one. Why? I needed cash for an new computer for my wife and it didn't make sense for me to have multiple guitars I really can't play when she needed a new computer. (She is not aware of my funding source nor does she need to be. Early Christmas I suppose.)
You can never have too many guitars!!!!
I think we all know what you will be thankful for later this week. Glad to hear that you're on the mend and back home.
I found this whilst getting lost on the interwebs.

Very interesting. I use Dean Markley Vintage Bronze strings. They are 85/15. Maybe I should try anther brand just to see if 80/20 sounds any different. I have used the Markley Blue Steel strings. They are actually 92/8 Phos bronze. I remember them being much brighter than the Vintage Bronze tho. I've also tried some Phos bronze of another brand and didn't like the sound at all.
So let me ask you all, what are the best strings? Just kidding. I know there is no best, just different.
I read or heard that the are selling their branding as part of the shutdown. So either someone will buy it all up and continue everything Hostess or just the name will be bought and someone else's product will be wrapped as Hostess. I too haven't had a Hostess product for years. Might have to pick up some so my son can have a taste.
I think Scott is in love with Lzzy. Lately it's all about Halestorm!! Justifiably so.
She is really good tho. Reminds me of Ann Wilson from Heart. Lots of power and control at the same time. Best band we have right now that is reminiscent of the 80's rock we love.
1. I don't know how to fingerpick so it's all pick strumming for me.
2. Over the soundhole and towards the bridge.
3. I have a Yamaha that has a lot of wear on frets 1-5. It doesn't affect me at this point. When it does, it'll need a fret job.
4. Nope.
I really can't complain. I had just gotten so used to playing at LEAST 4 days a week. Now that I have no time it just frustrates me. I will be playing tonight as I got home a little early today. I'm fortunate enough to have a few 'tars and I know the joy of making some sort of sound with them so I am blessed.
It's all about relative perspective.
for a little guitar time?
For the past year it seems like I can't squeeze out an hour to play. Two nights a week are a regularly scheduled interruption, so I know I won't be playing those nights. Any other night I should be able to, but something always jumps in and takes my time. I've been getting home a little later than I'd like to so that pushes everything else back also. Tonight I had to do some invoices so I can get paid and figure out a lumber list for a patio cover after I got home at 6pm. Off to do the dishes after I write this. All last week I had to deal with the stupid new cable boxes and re-programming our universal remote. That took a lot of time. My son goes to bed at 8:30, so by the time I get home, eat, and deal with other stuff it's already almost 9pm. There just aren't enough hours in the day. URGH!!!!!!
Thanks for letting me rant!!!!
(I could have been playing instead of posting this)
I have a tie for my most favorite. Shawshank Redemption and Tombstone. Anytime they are on tv I will stop down and watch. I love a good story and when acting is done right you believe in the character you're watching.
I've learned a lot from this guy and think that he is an awesome player. I had this new vid in my Utube inbox. Not really a fan of the song, but man Justin makes it look easy and sound amazing. So if you haven't checked out his stuff I recommend you do it.

I don't know if I'll ever be able to play a 12 string.
Zurf is playing a B chord?!?!?! Pack your bags folks, the end of the world is coming. You'll know when it happens, it will sound like a B chord.

At 15 there is no way that I could have been able to do that. I just don't get it. I must have missed something along the way.
