How did you get in my house ??? Lol

No need to get in your house. Those TSA scanners combined with Google Earth and you can see anything now.

Actually I think I probably played it at your place last summer. It's one of my staples. Since you folks were the first "strangers" I'd played in front of for nearly 20 years, I probably would have included it. Maybe at the campfire.

I was going to record this tonight but I was going through some of my older videos and found a version of Down on the Corner I had forgotten about. I had a brain fart in the first verse but I did recover. http://www.desismileys.com/smileys/desismileys_0859.gif We did this on a lazy Sunday afternoon back in April.

Yep. I remember those days of not being able to play anything with an F chord.

Try bouncing back and forth between the F and C. I used to do that every night as part of my practice routine when I started learning. Just a few minutes every time you get the guitar out and you'll have it in a couple weeks. smile

Nice!!

I fooled around with it Sunday. I'm having a little trouble putting the vocal phrasing together with the chord progression. I'll get it before the end of the month though.

Baldguitardude wrote:

You just ask if you can pick the song and are then appointed to do so?

Affirmative.

Instead of one of the mods picking the song, we'll choose a person from the ones that responded. Then that person will pick their own song for everyone to cover.  smile

So who won the June SOTM? He should at a minimum get a virtual pickle!

I think everyone won. If you learned a new song, that's a win. smile

I actually considered that but this seemed like more fun. http://www.desismileys.com/smileys/desismileys_3846.gif

I agree with Roger. I'm also a fan of two songs per month so how about some Bob Marley? Redemption Song or Three Little Birds?

As we move forward keep in mind; you don't necessarily need to post your choice of songs. Just throw your name in to the hat as the person who will choose the songs.

Sweet!

Is this the group Dead & Company that came out of the former Grateful Dead? Would love to hear more about it, especially what you do with them! That's awesome stuff, UJB.

Yes. Same band but I believe there may be a bit of a misunderstanding here. I am in no way affiliated with or work with the band. Going "on tour" just means following them around to see all the different shows. From '83 through mid '89 I spent countless days on the road seeing as many shows as I could afford; and a few I really couldn't. smile  I saw around 70 shows in those 7 years.

John Mayer got hooked up with them a few years ago and started touring last fall. He added a new energy and enthusiasm to the whole band and they are touring again this year. I saw 2 shows; Saratoga Springs, NY and Bristow, Va. I may go to Pittsburgh in July as well.

Here is the show from Saratoga Springs, NY on 6-21.

How are getting along with your looper, UJB?

I expect it's a lot less intimidating than when it first came out of the box. I'm a real fan of Boss gear, as they seem to have designed it for simplicity and ease of use.

Actually, I've been on tour with Dead & Co this week. I left Monday afternoon and just got home this morning. The power supply arrived while I was gone so as soon as my body settles back down into it's daily routine, I'll get started with the looper again.

I put it away for a few days.

It devours those 6 AA batteries in very short order . I ordered a power supply for it. It's scheduled to arrive between the 16th and 21st.

Way to go, UJB ... congratulations! From everything I've heard and read, the Boss RC30 is about the most functional loop station a person can get. I sincerely hope the frustrations of learning to use it don't overwhelm your enjoyment.

My brother has the RC300 model; $600. http://www.desismileys.com/smileys/desismileys_6604.gif Too rich for my blood. I think it has 6-7 pedals on it. I'm having enough trouble with 2. I realize there's  going to be frustration and a learning curve to anything you've never done before. Just take small bites and I'll get it.

I had to take a little break from it. I'm having a heck of a time getting the tempo I want when I want it.

The first loop is Knockin on Heavens Door. Got the tempo I was looking for pretty easy. Now I'm trying for something a little quicker and I can't seem to change it. The one time I did get it to change it was way to fast. I got frustrated and decided to walk away for a bit.

New pedal day.

I started looking for a loop station over the winter so I could record some of my favorite songs to practice scales. One the recommendation of my brother, who a few of you met last fall, I started looking for a Boss RC30. They're $300 new and being as cheap as I am, I wasn't willing to fork that much out. So I started searching craigslist. I found one yesterday that was $200 and about an hour away. Tonight I'll be hitting YouTube to help me learn to use it.
