my wife and i have been together for nearly 30 years, i write a little verse every year, this is this years... use it if you like it

I have tried a hundred different ways
To say I love you; come what may
I cannot leave you, now I know
I know for sure I could not go

And if I went, I’d soon return
For by your side; I have learnt
Is the very place where I belong
My destination is where I was from

I may have tried a hundred ways
I may have looked a foolish waste
One thing I will surely do;
Is find my way back home to you

And just in-case you missed the message

I love you....true

may i make a little suggestion?

if worst comes to worst, and the speed bump [otherwise known this side of the pond as a sleeping policeman...aren't they all?] becomes an insurmountable mountain! couldn't we just post the songs on to a "my-space" type pay to listen website? the funds could be collected into a paypal account and distributed to the various charitable causes by mutual consent.

i'm trying....so my wife says, very trying!

my mother used to sing me songs as a rule;
"tell me a story" or "chip chip my little horse" or "horsey horsey, dont you stop" etc i sang them to my kids and now to my grand children

i probably got my love of singing and music from my mother, cant blame my dad for that as he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, i got my love of DIY from him

The Puppy

By Phill Williams

I bought a little puppy
The neighbours have a cat
A nasty little feline
He scratched and bit and spat

He terrorised my little dog
He'd come home scratched and raw
He's been bitten on his nose and tail
Scratch marks on his paw

If critters have a mafia
This pussy was the don
He seems all nice and cuddly
Then strikes when you are gone

But puppies have this habit
They grow and find their feet
And nasty little pussy cats
Will feel their canine teeth

One day my puppy'd had enough
This cat had gone too far
He'd eaten all his puppy snacks
And messed up all his yard

The red mist had descended
He could not take much more
He picked the cat up by the scruff
And threw him out the door

His teeth were bared and snarling
His tail was standing straight
His ears were back
His growl was deep
The cat had met his fate

So now the little pussy cat
Wont come into my yard
His memory of that fate full day
On his mind indelibly marked

When he sees my little puppy
He crosses over the road
He'd rather risk the rush hour cars
Than mess with mighty Toto [the dog's name]

hi jeff

i get a lot of inspiration from "looking back" so there's nothing wrong in that...is there?
"memories good bad and down-trodden" sums it all up i think.

thanks to all,

my father was in the Royal Navy during the 2nd world war and fortunately [for me at least] survived!
he was on destroyers, though this song is about the supply convoys from across the pond and how they were sunk by U boats...it must have been truly nightmarish. the "row boys just row" line is how i imagine the skipper would encourage his crew to survive, think about rowing and not dwell on the storm...etc

thanks again

A song of sailors getting their ship torpedoed from under them.

Row Boys Just RowUndefined

[F]See the [C]roses growing [Dm]in my [F]garden

[Bb]Catch the [C]sweet scent on the [Dm]summer breeze

[F]Lazy [C]days watching [Dm]clouds pass [F]by us

[Bb]High in the [F]sky it's a [C]perfect [F]day

[Am]Is that the sun singing

[Bb]What is that cloud bringing? SAME CHORDS FOR EACH VERSE

Hear the laughter of a hundred children

Feel their wonder as you watch them play

They never notice as the skies are darkening

Thunder rumbles and they run away

chorus

[F]Row [C]boys just [F]row-[Am]

[Bb]Although the [C]waves break [Dm]over the bow

[F]Row [C]boys just [F]row

[Bb]The storm is breaking

[C]Your arms are aching

[Dm]Your wives are calling

[Bb]And the [F]land is [C]oh so [F]near

So big as she lays at anchor

Hardly moving on the summer swell

So small out on the ocean

And then the enemy blows her to hell

And as she dies quickly

I feel my heart sinking

repeat chorus

At last the morning and the skies are clearing

We are saved but not all survive

We say a prayer for those that never made it

And thank the lord for saving our lives

And as the sea claims them

I hear them calling out

repeat chorus twice

the monkeys were a manufactured band...so what about all the crap that now exist created more or less the same way?
here's a list of uk crap i mean bands

1 girls aloud
2. spice girls
3  those two irish bands...i can't be bothered to go on any further as they don't deserve a mention.

but, i've played in lots of bands, and apart from when your actually putting the band together with school friends or neighbours, as members leave [or get fired] you audition people you may have never met before, if that's not manufacturing a band what is?

nicely worded my friend... it would also be nice to hear it and your other stuff too.

if there's any thing i can do, just call

hi alan, this is surely heart rendering, i can't imagine anything more upsetting and soul destroying than to lose a child. i thought i would lose one of my grandson's in '07 in an accident while we were on holiday, and that really choked me up, so i guess the person who told you this story must be really gutted, give him my sympathies, and my congratulations to you for translating it so beautifully

What difference does colour make, would it so terrible if he was green or purple, he's a man with a mission, let's not forget, he used to be a Muslim [or his family were] so what difference does that make? you Americans voted for the man, not his colour or his religion.

Give him a chance

This one's about the 2nd world war, and continues my latest project about war, a detestable subject, but something we shouldnt blame our fighting men for, as they are doing their duty, and saving us from the likes of Hitler.

Bombs Fell On LondonUndefined

[A]The battle is over the [Bm]armies moved on

Far [A]away in the distance the [E]fighting goes on

The [A]wounded are tended the [Bm]dead laid to rest

[A]Farewell to your comrades who [E]fell in the mess

Will their [A]names be forgotten as [Bm]time passes by

Will you [A]think of the fallen where they [E]lay in the ground

Hear the [A]grieving of mothers who's [Bm]sons wont return

When [A]war comes again and more [E]sons will go

chorus 1

And the [D]bombs fell on London

And the [A]people did cry

While the houses burned down

And the [E]flames in the [A]sky same chords for all verses

Soldiers don't talk as they wit in the night

Huddled `round camp fires no moon in the sky

Knowing tomorrow may be their last day

Staring to heaven as their life slips away

chorus 2

Far out on the ocean

The sailors will drown

As their ship gets blown up

And the flames in the sky

Lights flash on the skyline is that thunder we hear?

As the bombs fell on London and we all live in fear

All our soldiers are hero's

All our sailors are too

And the men in the air force

All hero's and true

chorus 3

The silence is shattered

The birds fly away

As the bombs fell on London

And the flames in the sky

solo[E]-[A]-[E]-[A]||-[E]-[A]-[E]-[A]

Repeat chorus 1, 2 and 3

Dm's not a note, it's a chord, A is a note [or D] my particular favourite is Eb

I thought you weren't allowed to break wind before women, in case it's their turn, [and they could be bursting!]

I never used to do a lot of things before I got married, I never spent any time on the internet, cos I never had a computer then...so it's her own fault...yeah! I'll have to use that argument next time...see Chordie does have it's uses
