no not professional, i have been semi-pro for about 30 years, doing pubs and clubs all over south wales [uk] in groups, duos and since the day elvis died solo. i dont include my own songs, i'd be too self-conscious, so i do lots of 60's some 70's and 80's and a couple of more recent tunes. oh and i do some country too.

i tried about 10 years ago to get EMI interested in my music but they said that my songs were not whats happening now [or then?]
anyway i gave up trying after that, but the song writing forum has rejuvenated my passion and i've written more songs in the last few weeks than i have for years, and this is one, it is the song that came along as any song does, and it gave me the idea of doing a project which would be a CD full of songs linked only by the fact that they all have something to do with a local park.

I noticed as I was doing this one that I started writing it in 1978, but I cant leave well enough alone, so every now and then I dig songs out and change a word, or a line or maybe a whole verse etc. This is not country I dont think...correct me if I'm wrong.

Not this song of course as it mentions Cardiff and St. Davids in Pembrokeshire Wales. thanks for the comments and the advice, i'll try that a little later on, at the moment i'm in the middle of putting another two songs up on chordie and my space, you might want to look out for them their called; maggie coulter and birds fly away, to be honest i dont like passing moments very much, i just wrote it one night while i was on chordie, then stuck the chords on when someone asked me to. when i listen to it i shudder, my song not yours! yours is great. got to go work to do

hi helena,

i've been waiting for you to put another song up, and i have to say even without chords it's very musical. i could imagine it in my mind [which is something i can't normally do with songs written without music] as a sort of walking beat in a country style, i may be wrong, so is that what you had in mind when you wrote it?

it's quite profound though, did you mean it to be so deep?

i particularly like the line at the end of each verse" the gift to live without." i guess that covers a lot of things, and it's exceptionally well thought out and written. congratulations. maybe you'll put music to it and post it on myspace, i wait with baited breath

this is a lovelly song, a very haunting melody line and i just love the guitar work, the chords are great, how did you come up with them? i would never have thought of basing a verse on Bm to C, great. and then the key drop to Bb on the chorus. got to say it works so well, nice recording too.

This is a true story about a chap I know, who was due to get married, a very expensive do and honey moon all booked and ready to go. So off he went to Benidorm with about a dozen or so friends. After a week they all came home, except the groom who had met some Scottish guys and decided to stay another week with them. He phoned home to say he needed some time to think.
When he did come home, his fiancee had had enough, she cancelled the wedding the honeymoon, the lot. he tried his best but she stood her ground...it was over.
