Hi everyone, I`m back from being away for most of this month.  So, I haven`t been on to listen or comment of entries.  Nice to be back but I do love to be away at the beach, I think being a beach bum is in my blood big_smile

Anyway, Richard thoroughly enjoyed your entry.  I hadn't heard that one before (showing my ignorance once again on musicians).  I will actually go listen to the original of this to compare but without having heard the original and just from listening to your version of it, you did a great job.  I liked your performance all round and think you did a great job.

Happy New Year from a very hot day at the beach.  Holiday time for us as we relax and enjoy the sun.  Hope you all have a wonderful 2026.

Good lyrics Beamer, I like it.  Without hearing how its performed, my thoughts are maybe overuse of "try to defend".  But that is from just reading it, maybe hearing it, the use of "try to defend" so many times would be fine.

Fantastic Jim, I love it!  When I get home from holiday I am going to download this one and add to my playlist.

Peatle I remember Michael the juggler.  He always had a smile as he juggled those tennis balls.  I also heard he used to supply drugs to people in the city as they headed to nightclubs or whatever gig or thing they were going too.  Not sure how true that was but what I was told.

Great bit of writing once again Peatle.

Peatle, ALL you have written, the introduction, the poem and your reply to Phill, excellent writing skills.  You have a real talent in this area, thoroughly enjoyed reading it all.  On a side note, yeah the Johnsonville Mall is looking very tired.  Great to see you back on here smile

Wow, just love this, Jim.  Love the lyrics and the visual that you have put with it.  Fantastic singer, who is it singing your song?  I couldn't see a name anywhere for him or the musician.

Looking for SUGGESTIONS in FEBRUARY for SONGS about SURFING,  SKIING and or GOOD TIMES.

Once again SUGGESTIONS can be for a COVER or you can write an ORIGINAL.

You know the drill by now.

READY, SET, GO!!!

Welcome to JANUARY 2026 and this months FSOTM.

Pretty much anything goes this month.  It can be your favourite singer, band, song, word or words or an original song you wrote about anything.

Some suggestions for this month were:

“Getting help .. each week with a lady who specializes in hands”.  In other words, try to write a song with that sentence in the song big_smile

January – Pilot

Joe Cockersongs

Cat Stevens songs

America songs

Little River Band songs

Wings Paul McCartney

OK, let's see what you all come up with.

READY, SET, GO!!!

Some Joe Cocker, some Cat Stevens, America songs,  Little River Band, Wings Paul McCarthy as suggestions.

Sorry for the late and very delayed updates for FSOTM, we have a had a busy time of it over this side of the planet.  On holiday now at the beach so have only just been able to get to FSOTM.

Richard, both your entries are great. The Christmas one was very easy listening, had a nice vibe to it.  Well done to both of you on this performance.  The second one had a political vibe to it and I liked it very much.  Food for thought in songs of this type.  Very impressed, well done again to you both.

Thanks Peatle, it takes a while but I am getting there.  I can use it for most things now but still can't put weight on it or twist it.  Hope u had a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year to everyone.

With your Voice - you could not sing for five years - step out and nail any song. You have such a golden voice!

Jim

aww thanks Jim, your very kind.  But trust me,  it doesnt take long to lose the vocals if one doesnt use them, which I havent been singing much at all.

What a great way to wrap up the year this FSOTM thread really captures the full Christmas spirit, from heartfelt and reflective songs to humorous, foot-tapping performances. It’s lovely to see such a supportive and encouraging exchange here, especially with people sharing originals, covers, lyrics, chords, and even health updates along the way. Big credit to everyone contributing and cheering each other on; this kind of community interaction is exactly what makes these monthly features special. Looking forward to hearing more festive entries as December rolls on.

Hiya SallyBlake, nice to see you chat here in FSOTM.  Great comments you have made by the way and I agree, it's a great community with interaction for us all to chat, share and enjoy.  Lovely to have you join in smile

Grah1 thanks for that or should I say cheers for that big_smile  Cool, I will try to play this one and if successful will share it with you all.   Having said that, same applies, still recovering with this broken hand, which is coming along really well, but still not the same movement I had, which will be a time thing.

TIGLJK, awesome, thanks for the entry.  I will try to have a go at it, but no promises on how it will go with this hand and wrist still recovering,  nor vocals because I just haven't been singing.

lol that is a laugh that song Grah1, well done, and I think we have all met those sort of characters somewhere along the line in our lives lol.  I think I have heard you do this one b4 and I enjoyed just as much this time.  Any chance of sharing the lyrics and chords with us?

Going to attempt to play my ukulele this week, hopefully my wrist will be able to do it, wish me luck.

Good luck - if it hurts, put it down ... you may need to work back up to it ... I'll be doing some concerts in a couple of weeks, so I might enter my friends song that I'll be playing on ...

Cheers

Richard

Had my first attempt on the ukulele tonight, Richard, it didn't hurt or course me any problems, so that is good news.  Now I just need to get practicing again with the ukulele as I am a bit rusty (doesn't take long) and even the vocals are rusty as I haven't been singing.

Look forward to hearing what you put together naomilin0

Grah1 now thats a good one for January, awesome smile

lol neophytte, that is funny big_smile
