Another mth another song

That was a nice tune, I liked the way you stuck on the one chord in the middle 8 - that was actually a good break in the tune ...
Here is my short contribution for this month song as my arthritic fingers struggle to move when I play guitar nowadays. Just poorly recorded on my cellphone but hopefully it entertains.

Peatle, you might want to go down a guage on your strings, some of the guys at the acoustic club I go to are doing that, and finding it a bit better. YMMV ...
It was short, but a good tune ... ! Your videos are always a joy to watch - one day I'll get you to do one for me ![]()
Here's one that fits I call What It's All About - I wrote it a while ago - mid 2020 - but it fits the theme for this month.
https://soundcloud.com/jets60/what-its-all-about-1
Ha - that was a good tune ...
Thanks, Jan and Sorry about that - you can hear it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPy_iuxuVLY
But I liked this version better!!
Here`s my very quick attempt tonight to cover a song for the month. Finding it a bit difficult to record anything let alone play/sing anything at the moment as we are renovating and the room I play in and record in is fill of furniture. A bit of a mission to set up the recording gear. Very rusty as haven't been playing or singing much lately.
Did you do this one before? It's a good version, but can hear that rusty element. It's pretty good considering those facts ....

I uploaded one of my old songs to SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/neophytte1/storm
Opening words are "Rivers flow into the sea ..." ![]()

Hi,
A song my wife recorded while I was jamming with myself:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0CNQku0O7s
"live by the edge of the sea" ...
Will have a listen to the others soon - just found out my new work computer doesn't have speakers ... !!!

Pretty sweet, huh?
Cool!! Congrats!!

How to Make Gravy by Paul Kelly
neophytte, Drivers Seat, I hadn't heard of that song before so can't compare it, but it sounded good when you performed it
Thanks for listening ... the original can be heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SCzVEUlqqA
Cheers
Richard
neophytte, I had to listen hard to that song to hear the word `remember`, then finally towards the end lol. Well done
Oh yes, I should have mentioned that; it's the last verse ...
And thanks for listening .. ![]()
thats sounds good Neo,just managed to get in before the end of the mth.
I think it was one day after, but I won't tell if you don't ![]()
Good one Richard and also a good round of applause from the crowd. It's good when the punters stop talking and take time to have a listen.
Thank you, I'm trying to fit my Chordie challenge in with my live performance once or twice a month ...
Cheers
Richard
Sorry, only got to edit this video: The word is remember in the line I'll never remember my time with you, which I managed to fumble through in this video of "Drivers Seat" (originally by Sniif 'n' the tears): https://youtu.be/0LsLUSMF1PU
Enjoy!

Nice one Richard.
That is super acoustic guitar playing - seems like a few different strum patterns were involved. I almost thought there was another guitarist playing with you off camera. Also liked the pauses of the guitar to emphasis the important section of the lyrics. Well done. Jim
Thanks - this one is a bit of an old favourite of mine; especially with the capo on 2, it goes with my gritty vocals.
Nice one Richard.
Thank you, kind sir!!
neophytte, thanks for the comments on my poem, lol I was smiling to myself as it came together

Nice acoustic guitar on your song and agree with Tigljk about it being interesting and sounding great with the different strum strokes. I liked the intro to it. I could hear someone in the audience occasionally tapping along in time to your performance, it made me think how much this particular song would be next level with a drumbeat. Good to hear the audience joining in too with their singing. The only thing I would say otherwise, is maybe the vocals could have been a bit louder as the guitar was quite loud and at times overtook your vocals.
I was thinking of taking your poem and doing a Noel Coward styled tune out of it, but time was against me again this month. I still have some videos to edit, but other priorities have take a higher precedence ...
Thanks for the comments on the song, this was a totally acoustic gig (which scared the hell out of me, as I have a soft voice and a loud guitar, and also tend to strum too hard), so no mics or amps anywhere (one lady had an amp for her uke-bass which was frowned upon, but accepted) and I'm not used to playing like that. My "totally pro" setup is having an iPhone SE on a tripod where I was sat, so you can often hear audience participation better than the guitar (as the mic is sat amongst the people), and it also surprised me when I heard it back that they were singing along. You can hear in my other song above where the guy behind was coughing close to the start of the song, which was probably louder than the song itself ....
That's a nice song, I commented on the other thread as well ....
Cheers

This is the recording of the song I wrote for the SOTM for October. https://soundcloud.com/tigljk/last-night
Jim,
An excellent little ditty!! Every month I think I'll write a song for the FSOTM, and occasionally I get to it, but wish I could be more consistent with it. Glad you found the word a bit of a challenge, I got it from a random word generator and I must admit I found that word hard to find in any song ... !!!
Cheers
Richard
Any more entries for this month?
I've got "Two out of three ain't bad" with the line I remember how she left me on a stormy night: https://youtu.be/2IGVbo34E7E
Enjoy!
Richard
Neo and Grah1, yes look forward to hearing them in November, not too far away now is it. Year has gone so fast!
I've still got some entries to the Oct one to post up ... from another gig I did a couple of weeks ago. Gosh, end the year is creeping up fast!!!
Cheers
Richard
I was reading through this and had thunder sound effects going through my head ... looking forward to hearing it ....

Well, I struggled with the word ELECTRONIC for this month's FSOTM, so I wrote this instead.
ELECTRONIC Poem
I been thinking about songs
Using the word ~electronic~
It had me bamboozled
Something chronic.
I tried to make it harmonic
Something iconic
But nothing came to me
My ideas very embryonic.
So, I sat down and visualised it
It had to be symphonic
Pictured it all lit up
All ~electronic~
Then the word faded
As I sipped my gin and tonic
Oh well, I will go watch my Panasonic.
Ha! Very witty .. I also struggled to find anything with the word electronic in; I had about 3 songs from artists I knew, but didn't know the actual song, so went with the word remember in this song I performed live. It has the line "Remember me I used to live for music, remember me, I brought you groceries in", which is here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzNis_m-rVE

Richard
Ok here we go again,i will kick it off for Oct.

then i picked up my guitar and bang i had this.a warning! its very rough
come on you lot can top this!!!

An excellent bit of research there Richard. I wonder if there is any more info on the start date of chordie or is it a trade secret???
First record I could find was 8th Dec, 2002, and this is what it looked like: https://web.archive.org/web/20021208055 … ordie.com/
Looks like it became popular around 2005 as per this graph of usage:

You'll need to add a pre-amp to the piezo as they have a different impedence (if you're comparing like for like), something like this diagram should be sufficient:

I migrated over here when some "Lawyer Types" forced OLGA (On Line Guitar Archive) to fold their tents around 2002-2004? (I forget... old age I suppose).
2006 according to the Wiki article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On-line_Guitar_Archive - I think the 'take down' stuff started around 2003, a friend wrote a script to archive it, and you can still find remnants of it on the web today ...

neophytte, Dancing in the dark, you covered it really well, it suited you vocally and your style. I agree with the above comments that the guitar could be quieter or increase the loudness of your voice recording. Otherwise, a good cover and suited you.
neophytte, your Crowded House cover was good as well. I could definitely hear the phaser sound to this recording. Nicely performed. And with all that said, better late than never, here is my very quick recording tonight for FSOTM with the word SEA.
https://soundcloud.com/ukulelejan/sea-of-love
Thanks for the feedback, I had a listen to your song and it sounded quite good!!
Even later mainly due to the awful Covid which has struck me down again .I had to call in some help from the late Woody Guthrie with this cover of the Doors Road house blues .(its not really Woody just a nice badge my wife bought me )
https://youtu.be/6AFIsmPgW4A
Nice tune, liked your badge and hope you're feeling better!!!
Cheers
Richard
Also added this one from Crowded House - https://youtu.be/Dv9RVOJ-YQY unfortunately was trying out a new mic, which gave a phaser style sound to the clip, which doesn't sound too good.
Has the word road in it.
Cheers
Richard
nice one neo
Thanks for taking the time to listen!!

Good one Richard your guitar has an upright piano sound coming through which I like on this one. It's one of those songs in a pub singalong setting if people had a lyric sheet, I could imagine them singing along with you and it would sound great with your lead vocals and guitar as done on this video.
Thanks - I'll be doing one of those this coming Tuesday, but the song will be "Lion sleeps tonight" ...
Richard
Very well done - I think there were a few times when you " let go" and sang like the boss! Great guitar playing !I think if you could have somehow increased the vocal and decreased the guitar it would have enhanced it.
In any case it was a superb rendition o Bruce's song.
Jim
Thank you for the feedback; I'm slack and am using a single mic ... I should set up a mic for vocals, DI the guitar and record it on the Zoom, then mix it back later, but (as you can see at the end of the video where my son pops his arm out) my time boxes are limited. One day I'll get it sorted, I did do it previously a couple of times ...
Just had a listen to Richard on you tube nice version of a Brucie classic just a little too loud on the guitar in places but still a good cover .Well done .
Thank you for taking the time to listen and for the feedback, please see above for the explanation of volumes ...
Cheers
Richard
Dancing in the dark: https://youtu.be/9aox2lsj7F0 has the word 'help' in it ... (not home like I said in the video).
