I just thought you would like to know I do have a mp3 of the wav file and there really is very little difference in quality it was converted by audacity to a mp3 and its on my website now so  when I leave chordie after typing this I will upload the mp3 copy of the original wav cd I ripped into media player as "MP3 copy of WAV"and you can judge for yourself and thanks again for the comments smile

Yea you ain't the only one lol there was another video clip that must have been deleted accidentally it showed the humungous screen that projects the tracks like audacity but with more gizmos and an odd thing when he gave me a copy of the song after the session I went home and ripped it to media player it was a wav format and a whopping 32 megabytes! and I didnt find that out till I tried to upload it to myspace and the file was to big to load so I had to improvise I played it on my tascam and fed it to my br-8 and sent it in to audacity and converted it  to mp3 but the quality suffered so I decided to open the 32 megabyte file I ripped from the original cd with audacity and export it as a mp3 and thats what I have on myspace all in all it was a great night eccept for the storm on the way home. there is a video clip of a mistake I made when recording but its in my private files as there was some very strong language I uttered after making it I did give a copy to doug hope he covered his wifes ears and there were no kids around lol

The recording session videos are uploaded and listed under my recording session there are two videos the first is a tour of the studio and a interview with the engineer and the second is the first track with all the other tracks added because of the time I was not able to videotape all the vocal, mandolin and bass tracks I recorded along with the other acustic track and the mixdown but I hope you enjoy what I did have time for I am uploading the new recording of "Betrayal" from traxx 52 to myspace smile

Thanks does chrome still have the google bar spell check? I would be lost without it lol seriously its the best feature smile

mrjay wrote:

Hey Russell,

I've been trying out Chrome for a couple of days now. So far, what I can say is that it's a very lightweight browser and web pages seem to load up quite fast compared to others (IE, Firefox).

The best feature is probably the address bar which also doubles as a search tool (using Google). It makes surfing the web more efficient because you don't have to go back to a search engine every time you want to go somewhere new. You'll notice the lack of a menu bar and that the available features aren't very extensive. So, if you're more into nice plugins and add-ons I would recommend Firefox 3 instead. But if you want a simple browser that works fast and effectively, it could be a good choice.

That said, they still have a long way to go to make it really appealing. First of all, they should really integrate all the other Google tools (Google desktop, Google Maps, etc...) into the browser and give more personalisation options (at least for the look of the browser). I also noticed a few bugs, mainly related to AJAX enabled sites, but nothing too drastic. There are also a few developer tools for programmers (such as myself) but nothing close to what you can find for Mozilla-based browsers like Firefox. Hopefully, they'll improve Chrome a lot in the next few versions after they've let users fool around with it a bit and have given feedback.

Anyway, bottom line is Mozilla Firefox is still the best (especially 3.0), Chrome isn't bad at all (for a first version anyway), and IE is still terrible =/.

You should give it a whirl. It's a small download and worth a shot.

J.

smart dee dee im glad you checked out the audacity program and thank you for your comment as far as mic's are concerned a good all around inexpensive mic (and i have one) is the Sure Sm 58 it records vocals and acoustic guitar and is virtually indestructible I have been using it for over 15 yrs with out a problem it sells for under $70 dollars and all the songs on my website vocals, acoustic or mandolin were recorded with the Sm58 there are better mic's for recording like senshouser and if you have $1000 to shell out or more  it is worth the money but the sm 58 will produce quality sounds over and over but there are others and im sure someone will chime in with there recommendations so take your time and get the best value for your money along with durability smile

Sometimes a major change can occur in seconds kind of like a fan one second its turning the next frozen up, the screws to your springs may have been loosening up all along and its like the straw that broke the camels back theory one two many straws, another possibility is your neck there are 4 screws that attatch this neck to the body check to see if there tight and there is a truss rod running the length of your neck it may have some affect in all of this but I think the likely culprit is the spring tension good luck smile

Hi smart dee dee if you check out the Audacity tutorials on my mediafire site you can download them free and I would suggest getting the audacity program its also free from sourceforge.com you might have to download a program called LAME from the same place so you can export your songs as mp3's but audacity is an excellent music sound on sound editor and all the instructions how to use it are on the video tutorials it cost next to nothing and produces really great results and any questions you have you can ask me I made the videos so  the first thing is to get the audacity program downloaded and then download LAME it comes in a zipped folder so you may have to download winzip if you dont have a unzipper its also free. the only chord you will need to hook up your computer to your guitar or keyboard is a y adapter it cost about $4.95 from radio shack and the tutorials will tell you how to hook it up and use it, if you want to buy a recorder you will still need to dowload audacity to get it into your files so you have a few options personally I like the price of a free program so any questions feel free to ask smile

Ive played this song and the only chords i have used are A Em G D A there is a turn around for the instrumental but that go's to G D and back to A you can add the sus in if you wish but I dont for the same reason as you I suppose there is a sheet music arrangment out there for this song somewhere but it might be listed in public books or artist so check around but in the end play the chords that sound good to your ear smile

doctony wrote:

Here's the deal -- the chords [various websites] say 'yes' but, alas, the 'ear' says 'no' !

Put another way, what am I missing! Naturally, I do a post on 12 string tuning and with the 12 string in hand, what better tune for the 12 string than Gordon Lightfoot's "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" [Sidebar: I hear if you capo the 'second' fret, you can play along with the original tune] -- anyway, here's where my ear is in rebellion, so to speak, the progression is Asus2/ Em/G/D/Asus2  and I've seen that in countless chord renditions for the opening of the tune ==but== when the Asus2 chord falls on, how do I express this, bear with me, the "mee" in "gumee" or indeed the [** phonetically rendered now] 'mee' in "gloomy" or 'tee' in "empty" or 'lee' in "early", the Asus2 sounds, well,  out of pitch yet I don't know anything else that works 'but' the Asus2 chord,  sooooo, what am I missing or doing wrong? Try it yourself -- "On the 'big' [G on 'big' ] lake they 'call' [D on 'call'] Gichee  Goo [OK with the Asus2 on Goo] ==but== when completing the word and vocalizing the 'mee' in 'Goomee', the Asus2 sounds odd to the ear! What am I missing in this great and haunting tune?

There are two items I wish to inform you about the video "Breezzin" has been remixed and the audio syncs with the video, the first one there was a delay I corrected this by trimming the audio in the beginning because there was a two second delay in the mp3 the other item is if you are submitting a mp3 for the "Challange" please note if its a vocal or instrumental this will make it easier for me to sort out and I wish you all good luck the contest starts on September2nd and you have untill the 15th to submit your entry and if you have submited and wish to change for any reason and resubmit a new mix please do so before the deadline on september 15th smile

Hey Guys,

This was suppose to be rock singers, now maybe my idea of rock is different than some, but while I suppose Micheal Bolton does have a good voice "I don't like him", but the guy never sang a rock song in his life, he's "at least to me" a soulful pop singer, not rock and roll. Just my opinion
