Haha, well Tibernius I think its pretty obvious Im no punk rock expert, I listen to Waylon and Willie and Hank.... and the occasional AC/DC or metallica, guns n roses or sumthin..... but punk rock is not my area of expertise.
I heard this on the radio is the only reason i know it honestly.

well if you've been playing that long you got me whupped by a few years friend lol, Im mainly an acoustic player, but I do read tabs and plunk around on the electric occasionally. I'd reccommend some AC/DC, try Back in Black and Hell's Bells....
I think you'll just have to try it and see, its a great song, but you'll get a feel for your level after awhile

Okay here goes.../
There's a highway here in Texas that runs all the way from the gulf coast on up to deep east Texas, lufkin, newton, longview, etc.....
My life's been basically on either end, up towards 'the country' was the place I'll always call home (ah to be back in Seedtick lol), and also the in between towns of kirbyville and buna where I had the most tormenting days of my short life (emotionally anyhow) with the crazy on and off (and rather strained) relationship with my runaway momma ....  and down 'to the sea' lies the nasty smoggy city where I somehow keep ending up. Ive finally learned to deal with it and get along okay but at first I had a really hard time, we were broke and homesick, no TV no couch, microwaved bacon and mac n cheese four nights a week, a white walled apartment and no friends (well thats what I felt like at first, a found a few good uns). 'both ways had thier way with me'....
The second verse just kind of seemed to fit the theme, I'd heard 'Its good to be back home again' by John denver and I started thinking about some guys I knew who have to stay on the road for whatever reason...
And the last one's just kind of about the ramblin' shoes theme thats so recurrent in country music, and a nod at the willie nelson song 'My heroes have always been cowboys'....
"I learned all the rules of a modern day drifter
Don't you hold on to nuthin' too long
Just take what you need from the ladies and leave them
With the words of a sad country song"

So anyhow there it is, the song itself is about being gone from home and on the road, and wanting this road thats taking us so far away to please take us back where we came from....

Now as to the song, do you think it needs something more in the lyrycs, or should I leave it alone???

well my style doesn't really fit the text book neither, I'm just trying to help him get started. And yes I would say playing ANY way is a skill, as in not everyone's gonna be great at it. HOWEVER, in spite of that, someone not musically inclined can learn technical playing skills, and a talented individual who does not practice faithfully will never reach thier potential.

more telling??? Do you mean the song needs more, or you want me to expound??
Cuz I can do both I guess.

Another country waltz type song by Last_Rebel, hope yall like it just finished it up night before last. I think it had a George Jonish type feel persobally. I'm open to suggestions and I think maybe it needs another verse but it just got to this point and quit...

Okay everybody knows the old l -0-0-- 2--0l  trick you can use on the a,d,e strings...
                                                   l-0-0-- 0--0l
You can use those or the regular chords for this song, and of course yall know about the sevenths you can slip in. Bluesy (kind of old school rock and rollish) type rythym.

strumming is something you almost just have to feel... I know that sounds wierd, but i dont know any other way to describe it. Its probly one of the hardest things to get the hang of.... try some simple downstrokes at 4/4 and waltz tempos, then try all upstrokes with the same, and then try some very basic up, down, up down strumming. Another one is bouncing, hit the bass note and downstroke, thump downstroke, thump downstroke etc.
Don't get discouraged, it WILL come eventually, it just takes time and effort. Don't try to push in too many strokes if you're not in rythym, its better to learn to do very basic slow strums that have correct timing and work up to more and faster strokes.
Listening to a CD and trying to match the song is another good way to catch on. Maybe you can't sound exactly like the person playing on the CD, but maybe you CAN play WITH them and not be out of the ryhthym.

Well jets, one of the things about women is that you can't figger us out lol.... she probly wouldn't tell you (or tell you the TRUTH) even if you asked, but I bet she'd be glad you noticed smile
haven't taken the chords for a spin yet but I think they're gonna sound real nice and meloncholy (kind of like the face your wife made). You should sing it for her I bet she'd be happy to know you've spent that much time thinking about her

Kid Rock sings alot about Michigan,
"Ive been the world and back, but I'm a michigan boy can ya feel that?"
Never met a white boy quite like me... And a bazillion other ones he does say michigan. Does that count?

You're the reason God made Oklahoma- Dont remember who sang it

well im no expert, but i know the way i did it was this:
I played and played and played, and didn't worry too much about my fingers. Sometimes the skin will start peeling, and it doesn't hurt to get it out of the way if it bugs you. The line's normal, you've probly been playing the e and B strings alot....
I don't have much feeling left in my finger tips, but you don't just go numb. As you learn to play you'll become familiar with where your fingers need to go and it wont be a problem.
