hi james,

your right, your never short of a big idea. i've been a fan of chamber music since elinor rigby, and i do love peter and the wolf. do you think it's good enough to be even looked at by a proper orchestra?  it would be wonderful, do ya know any orchestras?
sounds like the strings on my mu50 are gonna get a hammering again.

thanks for giving it thought.

now i must go, i've got 3 new songs waiting for vocal parts on my recorder. by the by, did you sort out your mic problem?

Phill your one of the best tunesmiths out there I know you can forge some chords for these lovely words I feel a arpeggio type of intro and simple minor major progression not to complicated so the words dont get buried with unnessary changes very nice lyrics phill smile

Cytania yea I did get a good one and paid only $165.00 new and the music store put a new set of fender bullets on .09 to .043 and set the intonation and adjusted the action to what I wanted the quality of this guitars sound can be heard on my web site on the second song on my player called "Abednego" I mixed the tones to  sound like a violin (with help from my BR-8 effects patch) and this guitar is as fast as a cheap prom dress comming off on a blind date lol

lol roger thats a good one!

Its a sort of profile like a perspectis or resume would be closer its  a selling point for yourself at least thats what i think any questions you dont understand ask dan or contact the ourstage staff i dont fulley understand it myself.  after checking into it thats what it is a list of all the songs and pictures as well as press (if any) and a biography of you.

I own a chinese standard so 1 an exact replica  of the stratacaster and there is absolutly no difference is sound quality or ease of play in fact my guitar has an extra coil at the bridge and I go to music stores and play american strats and they sound and play the same as my chop suey model smile

Ark the members you refer to are registered artist AND fans and its the fans who decide the outcome not the artists because there are more registered fans then artists ie. the more chordie fans who register and vote will tip the scales

The idea is fine as far as it goes. Chordian supporting other Chordians is a nice concept and should be appaulded...
You can play their songs get their play numbers up and fav their pieces to your page and it all looks nice.

But the chart placings are down to Judging by members one song against another. Each song is given they say equal exposure to the judging public and one song is chosen to be the better and then you are given another two face off and the same thing occurs.
I've done this myself so I think its the way placing are done.
It's not down to the amount of plays a song gets. Just percentage of the prerfered songs totalled up in their super computer.

Still if get more Chordians to record and enter their songs then it's all to the good.....
and you sorta get a measuring yardstick as to the real appeal of your songs.
Thanks for introducing me to the site Russ

Doc heres an idea for you, your Boss BR 600 is small AND portable take it to a music store and ask them when you can rent or use a practice studio and bring your guitar, headset and microphone and ask them for help in useing the BOSS and tell them what you want to do, im positive someone will be able to show you how to put your guitar parts on the recorder and for good measure setup a small video cam and film the procedure so you will have it at home as a reference the next time you wish to record a song smile

Serious that's a nice idea. BUT I AM STILL VERY FRUSTRATED BECAUSE I CAN'T PUT A SONG ON THE INTERNET. I have that BOSS BR 600, but the word tells enough BOSS!! No matter what I do I can't use it.

I am pleased that my fellow chordians have decided to wade in and get there feet wet in the great river of competition as that is the only true way to measure your creations and if you would be so kind please send a few votes my way and join my fan club and I will join yours as well, and we chordians shall be as an army and smote the land and lay waste the ramparts of mediocrity with music and merryment as our battering rams and woe onto them who underestimate our number for we shall emerge victorious so let it be written so let it be done.

http://www.ourstage.com/   this is the link to ourstage and there are several members of chordie who are also on myspace with there own songs they have written and recorded now I know a lot of members of chordie dont have web sites with there music uploaded and some are not composers and there are guitar players banjo and keyboard players of all levels of proficency from newbies to seasoned professionals but on this site you can register as a fan and vote for the artist of your choice and make a huge impact and this is my idea you can support other members of chordie by voteing for them there are already 3 that i know of who have songs entered Arkady myself and phil williams I know james. jets, riddler, roger guppy all compose and post songs on chordie and if they would register and enter there songs "boy what a representation we fellow chordians would have" with the number of registered members of chordie i cant help but think how much of an impact they could make even if only 1/10 of the membership registered as fans that would be around 25,000 and that would be enough to overwhelm the voteing for the artist of there choice and why not? theres prizes that vary from money to concert performances recording sessions and promoters from record companies and for those who are looking to advance there musical carreers as performers or composers I cant think of a better way to do it and its all free so as the name of this post is "AN IDEA" these are my thoughts.

While watching the Open golf and reading up on the Korg PX5D, playing my guitar, thinking of other tunes and if I will be able to record them properly I got to thinking about contests. My whole life I have been told that I am a decent writer and should try and do
something but self confidencehas been my downfall.
After posting my songs on Chordie and getting positive responses I feel that I would like to explore this option as my self confidence has been given a huge lift from this site.
Thank You one and all. smile
My questions are: 1) Can contests be profitable as cash always has and always will be a problem.
                          2) What are some reputable contests.(I see that Russel has entered in the Myspace contests)
                          3) What are the pros and cons (if any) of entering them.
                          4) If a song has been entered in one contest, can it be entered in another contest
or could there be hidden small print claiming ownership.

This is just food for thought for me as it gives me one more thing to get excited about which is helping my confidence.

Thanks Again
