eagleeye5851 wrote:Doc,
you're not alone, I get it to.
The letter reads that the person or persons have millions of dollars, but can't get it and need for me to get it for them. They'll of course send me the check.
Have you received the one that says tht the person is in the military and he was part of a group that found millions in gold in Iraq, but he needs help getting back into the country.
I not only get the e-mails, but I get it in the regular mail as well.
It never stops coming.
Ark I think the fans are organized into groups and vote for the artist and the best songs sometimes dont always win it can be a tough go but the exposure is well worth the effort

Looking at the categories on ourstage "Solo Instrumental" seem like a good bet. It's varied with alot of piano pieces with some guitar etc and around 200 entries not to many....
Might have a go with my latest there see what the fickle audience goes for.....
Ark
Geo Im not sure myself what genre it is
the changes are fun to play I will make a video and put it on my galaxieguard channel on utube so anyone who's interested can play the chords
Very nice lyrics kap i would like to hear this when you have it recorded again nice writing
Ark thankyou for the comment im happy it turnned out as it did and I will enter it in ourstage but im unsure of what genre or channel, any thoughts on this would be appreciated
arkady wrote:Hey Russ

Tim I have both versions on the same disk all i did was add the lead track it can always be left out by turnning the fader down to be honest for that simple lead I tried several variations with electric useing a sustain and a warm overdrive but in the end i chose the accustic because the other parts are accustic and it blended in it only took me about 15 takes before I was satisfied with it and i burnned a cd with the tascam and ripped it to my files and then used the audacity program to tweek the volume without distorting and i made two copies one a wav and the other an mp3 glad you enjoyed the change tim
Top at first I was skeptical also as i had tried for 3 hrs to lay a electric lead solo and I was unhappy with the results so i put it on hold for a day and at the park by the lake I was playing my accustic to the cd i made of the song and i found what i was looking for just a simple fill in harmony with an occasional departure but always keeping it in the structure and feel of the song that was the hard part thanks for your nice comment to and i was thinking about making a video, useing the sound track sort of a combination slide show and me playing and uploading to utube but first i have to see if movie maker can handle the job
Well I put another part in its sort of a lead but its laid back a bit because I didn't want to take away from the feel of the song so ark and tim give a listen and let me know what you think and roger the next thread will be posted in the song writers page cross my heart
well james at least you know now and as a bonus you have a years worth of already arranged music that you can improve so you have something to keep you busy

I just now realized that my nifty Blue Snowball USB microphone was not functioning up to its full potential. Like an idiot, I have been using it for a year now without having the proper audio input specified in my preferences in the GarageBand recording software . . .
I have always had some ambient background 'fuzz' on all my recordings - being a newbie to the world of recording, I just figured it was one of those things that happened when you don't have super-duper gear and a soundproof room.
Well . . . I was just sitting down to record something and for some odd reason I clicked on Garageband's 'Preferences' settings. Lo and behold there was a choice between 'internal audio' and 'Blue Snowball'. I picked 'snowball' and suddenly my recording is 'clean' and 'deep' and without all the ambient fuzz!
The embarrassing and humiliating thing about this is that I now have a year's worth of my original songs recorded using the wrong/noisy setting. Not the end of the world - but I feel like a genuine doofus . . .
I'm glad to know better now - just wish I had known this a year ago!

If you want to check out some good finger pickers try Leo Kottke,Ry Cooder,James Taylor or chet atkins Merle Travis Lightning Hopkins Blind Blake and Adrian Legg to name a few. Finger Picking is used extensivley in bluegrass on banjo or accustic guitar and in flemenco and classical music by the late great andres segovia
If your in the key of C and are not playing a blues style (sucking in and bending notes) and your basic chord changes revolve around C F G Am Dm a C harmonica works fine if you want to play blues style harp a C harp is used for the key of G or a D harp is for G A for E so the rule of thumb is buy a harmonica a 4th interval of the key you intend to play in (for blues) also there are chromatic harmonicas that have a button to play all the half steps of the scale the harmonica is in for C its c d e f g a b c and it repeats till you run out of holes
Doc I still get junk mail saying i won this or that or i inherited some lost money the one i got last week was the best "Dear mr. Harding as you know I tried for 2 months to have you contact me regarding the sum of $28,000,000 dollars i wanted to send you to act as my agent in the united states and manage some of my bussiness deals and because of your honesty I wish to reward you with $500,000 dollars for being such a nice person and turnning the deal down" send me your bank account and routing number and social security number so i can transfer these funds to your account time is of the essence "boy talk about a pile of horse dung and the sad part is there are some people who go along with this scam one good rule of thumb is if your pc or mail service (mine is road runner) places these gems in the junk folder dont even open them just delete delete delete till all of them are beamed up to junk pergatory
I think i'll skip the "thawack" after 60 I found that i welcome this celestial event with open arms

Been there Russ......I found that a swift "Thwack" with a handy ruler always did the trick....that way then the class will only need to wonder why you're crying and not worry that you're about to hold the place up!
P R E V X 2 Hands down the best anti virus malware protection in the solar system for under $30.00 nothing!! gets by prevx even if your on a website thats new to you your protected it stops and alerts you and takes action immeditley and puts the malware or virus in jail and then eradicates the varmint and take the carcase and uploads it for study at the lab and restarts your pc and exicutes a file scan of all files on your system including all programs worms dont stand a chance it shows no mercy and takes joy in killing infestations like my cat when i was young it killed a mouse and then dragged it into the living room to show everyone
Ive performed under those circumstances a number of times it isnt easy to stay cool and focased but walking off only makes things worse its better to take the insults and crank the amp up so it really pi@#^s them off and play rock and roll for yourself if you love what your playing on stage the people will pick up on that and most of them will get behind you and enjoy themselves but there are always a few buttholes who can only get themselves noticed if they got a big mouth chances are they wont get laid and you'll go home with the babe they will only fantisize about
I shall remember your words of wisdom mr. Guppy

With an instrumental you could have just announced it as you did here in 'Chat' without the need to try and write it all out.

thanks tim and bud_wiser good things to hear and follow up on
Tim0473 wrote:The one thing I loved about it Russ was the simplicity ... not to much ... not to little ... just very soothing ... it'd be interesting to have two versions ... the original like you have and then the one with the lead
Either way, again, outstanding!
Ark i will try it both ways and see which is best and i will reley on the opinions of the listeners to guide me and the opinions of composers and just plain music lovers and thanks a great deal for your feedback i respect your judgments

Had a listen to your new song. A nice guitar rhythm there and keyboard.
I think you are right and a lead harmony would add more to the basic song.
All the best

Don't share all your trade secrets!!!! Sometimes I just enjoy listening too. I guess that's what got me hooked into playing anyhow. I'm a fan 1st, a player 2nd.
Roger to be honest it didn't occur to me I could have i suppose but the formating would be a nightmare with chopro the only other way would be to write it on music paper scan it and take a screenshot and paste it,im not even sure if it can be done that way but I could have posted it in song writing as you say, glad you enjoyed it I have 8 more songs i will be recording and uploading at least 4 to my website so in the future i will use the song writing section
Roger Guppy wrote:Lovely piece of music Russell, I enjoyed every second of it.
But why have you posted it here in Chat? There is no rule preventing an instrumental piece of music from being posted in the Songwriting section.
Roger

Thanks Tim glad you enjoyed, I am working on several new songs and "Breezzin" is one, i am thinking about adding a lead guitar harmony line to it just waiting for the inspiration to hit I just wanted to get some feedback before I make any changes and I will make it available at that time i still would like to remix it a bit because it sounds better thru the earphones then my speakers and this was taken from my digital recorder to the Audacity program i think it may be better if i burn a cd and rip it to my files because my tascam cd-rw700 burnner dose a better job with the quality of sound then audacity (in my opinion) so I'll keep you posted when I have it available thanks again for the feedback russ
