Topic: I GOT A NEW GUITAR!! :) (11 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Yup I finally did it, and (if I may advertise) got a G series Takamine acoustic dreadnought, mahogany back and sides, spruce top, rosewood fret board, gold hardware. I payed a marked down price of 229$, (actually came to a little over 300 when I threw in some strings and a hard case).....
And I love it. Tried a few others, but I really liked the rich tone (and the looks), which are excellent at such a moderate price. I would reccomend this guitar for people around my level (which is I know my way around pretty well but i'm still green at just 4 years), because evrything about it is in moderation (including the price). Strings are close enough to the fret board to be comfortable, but not TOO close so slide and hammer ons still sound good, the neck is a good width because its narrow but not TOO narrow so fingerpicking is still fairly easy, and its flashy but not TOO flashy... the wood's real pretty and shiny and the gold hardware looks real nice but its not too sparkly and 'ooooh look at me'. The thing I'm most impressed with though is the sound, it has a very rich warm tone, very good for an instrument that didn't cost me 7 or 8 hundred dollars.
Of course evryone is different, but I think I found the perfect guitar for me, hopefully for a good long while, I aint got the money to buy a new guitar every other year lol In fact, this is the first guitar I've ever owned that was all mine...
SO, now that the advertisements over, does anybody else like this brand? This is the first time I'd ever even played one but I really like it. Anything fellow owners know that I should know??? I played a washburn and a hohner at the same price but wasn't as impressed...

Brown Eyes Blue - Crystal Gayle if Im not mistaken
Don't Close Your Eyes- ??? its a country song
My eyes are dry- that ones a church song
Brown Eyed Handsome Man- Is it chuck berry??? Ol Waylon done it one time
I'm thinking tonight of my blue eyes- Old bluegrassy traditional song

Re: Need chords to a song (9 replies, posted in Song requests)
..... i might possibly be able to help you, but i need to know something about where you heard it from. We have a bazillion hymnals, so even the denominaton of the church you heard it in would help.
I think Ive heard this song, but Ive heard so many gospel songs over the years its hard to keep up... I have the chords for anything in the heavenly highways by the way so if you ever need some of that let me know.

well doc phil i think what i meant was the best known on a global scale, which american artists have achieved the most international fame... and then it is a two fold question on opinion who was the best...
To me there are quite a few country guys i love (Hank and Cash and Willie and Waylon to name a few), but are they as famous in other places as here??

i knew the song before i knew what it was called too.... i think its the intro. more people know the intro than the song.

Re: My first ever song... answers on a postcard! (18 replies, posted in Songwriting)
well, I am trying very hard not to be offended at this.... but I have to admit that its well written and the chord progression is very nice. I won't preach becuase I hate religious debates, they don't do any good and it gets too messy SO for the record I don't agree with what your saying at all, but I think you're a good writer. And thats where Im gonna shut up.

Re: "Like Totally" (10 replies, posted in Songwriting)
Yeah I moved down to the city a year ago, hadn't been to the mall in years, talk about a culture shock. The town I'd been livin' in had a super walmart, but it was full of folks in wranglers and wife beaters, NOT strange multicolored hair and tight britches with chains hanging off of them. Its funny now lookin' back on how "goin' to town" was such a big deal, pilin' up into a car overstuffed with cousins and aunts and uncles and grandpas just to go to wal mart.
I don't much care for the mall myself, seems to me its the same old stuff, just spread out. You do twice the walkin' and you pay twice the price.... it is nice every once in a while for a shopping spree (Im not real big on shopping, but being a girl I do like to go out and waste money every now and then lol), when you've got lots of money to blow but the country music section is so terrible small ![]()
