Sounded pretty good for a rush job!! If you rush every month you might make us mere mortals sound reasonable big_smile

Richard  with your neighbourhood distractions you did good given that you were preasurised for time to get it done. Good to see your twin brother playing guitar with you on there and hear the  bird in the audience participating.

heh - was also trying out a new mic in a different situation ...  but it was a fun experience and the birds enjoyed it!!

Unfortunately the guy at the house behind us was using his chainsaw all morning, I only managed to get one take, and upon review, my voice wasn't as loud as I'd like it. And running out of time for the end of the month ....

Enjoy!!

Cheers

Richard

P.S. The birds thought they were the stars of the performance ....

I'm making progress, so far I've written this song:

Hello Richard Mortimer

intro vamps between -F- and -G-, go to -C- before starting verse

[F]Hello, it's [G]nice to see your [Am]smiling face again

In this [F]crazy world, where[G] people seem so [Em]scary

it's [F]comforting to [G]know you are still [Am]here ....

[F]Hello, I'm [G]glad we are together once [Am]again

I'd [F]like to say the words to you, [G]that I'm never going to [Em]say

and [F]I'd like to say them now, [G]but you know I [Am]won't ....

instr

[D7] [G] [Em] [C] [C] [G]

[F]Hello, I [G]wish we never had to say [Am]goodbye

I [F]know it's near impossible, [G]for that breaks all the [Em]rules

and [F]if we never left, I'd [G]never get to say ...

yes [F]if we never left, I'd [G]never get to say ...

and [F]if we never left, I'd [G]never get to say [Am]'Hello' ....

Wow, the chord pro parser really needs updating ... !

Anyway, will hopefully record it this weekend ...

Cheers

I've always liked "Wild World" by Cat Stevens, and I'll probably do a remake of "All's not fair (in love and war)" due to the current situation with Russia and Ukraine - here's one I did four(!) years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edKCo_WKa3I

All’s not fair (in Love and War) Richard Mortimer

intro -E- with 4th and 5th strings hammered on rhythmically

[A/]Daylight shatters jaded reality, [A/]someone somewhere holds the[E] key

[A/]Grass reeds rustle in the breeze, [A/]speaking their language to the [E]trees

[D]In another [E]far off land, [D]someone holds a [E]club, [D]an act of war? [E]an act of love?

[D]all's not fair[Dsus4] [D6], in love and [E]war

[A/]Stick creatures disguise themselves, [A/]making it clear they don't want to be [E]seen

[A/]Butterflies flutter by wistfully, [A/]sunshine falling down upon their [E]wings

[D]In another [E]far off land, [D]someone holds a [E]axe, [D]an act of war? [E]an act of love?

[D]all's not fair[Dsus4] [D6], in love and [E]war

[A/]Birds sing out so cheerfully, [A/]they know they are where they want to[E] be

[A/]take their lives from day to day, [A/]build a nest if then they want to[E] stay

[D]In another [E]far off land, [D]someone hold[E]s a knife, an act of war? an act of love?

[D]all's not fair[Dsus4] [D6], in love and [E]war

Bridge 2x

[B ] [C@3] [D@5] [D@5] [D#@6] [E@7]

[A/]Primates chatter so ferociously, the [A/]only communication that they[E] need

[A/]The forrest is a comfortable home, [A/]giving them everything they [E]need

[D]In another [E]far off land, [D]someone holds a[E] gun, [D]an act of war? [E]an act of love?

[D]all's not fair[Dsus4] [D6], in love and [E]war

[A/]A generation lost in space, [A/]declares itself the intelligent(?) human[E] race

[A/]sometimes the truth is so plain to see, [A/]that it merely eludes you and[E] me

[D]In another far[E] off land, [D]not too far to [E]see, [D]A man let's go [E]of his fears, [D]concedes to san[E]ity, [D]who is the victim - you and[E] me, [D]victims of [E]society, [D]for without it we wouldn't n[E]eed to know

[D]all's not fair[Dsus4] [D6], in love and [E]war

A/ = play once, then fingerpick

[Stop]

Welcome back Jandle!! It's good to see your icon on the screen!!

Hi just to get the ball rolling with my bad voice and some tricky guitar playing by my friend Robert Caravano here is Welcome Back for Jandle. https://soundcloud.com/eatleville/welcome-back

I liked your tune Peatle; needed some harmionica on there to complete it (well, like it sounded in my head!!). The good (?) thing about the blues is you don't need a great voice, you just need to feel it - which came through in this recording, crickets and all!!

OK, I had a go. I rewrote the lyrics to the Peters and Lee song: https://youtu.be/FPV8qsiEdJw

That was great, it was heartfelt and warm, I'm not sure I know the song, so it sounded like an original to me!!

Looking forward to hearing more - I'm a bit busy this month, so hoping to write a tune for the occasion, but with only 10 days to go, well, let's see how we go!!

Richard that house party had a nice atmosphere to perform in.

Yes, it was pretty good; that's their garage out the back, but they have access to their outdoor area and had a table full of food (if you listen closely, you can hear the people chatting outside getting food), was a good evening all around!!

My son worked hard on this track to transpose my old song into real music, and we jammed it out so he could play it:

I think we could have done better but he wanted to move onto other things after that ...

I have an Epiphone MB-200 banjo; does anyone know where I can find details on the head size? I'm confused by the "collar" measurement which comes in "low", "medium" or "high", but without dimensions ...

Thanks

You can do it within Chordie - where it says "Guitar Tuning" on the right hand side (on a laptop/desktop), this is a dropdown, of which 3 of the options are for banjo.

I'll sometimes pop by and read through the posts, life has been busy and I rarely get to comment, but there has been a long and slow move away from the 'forum' based sites, and moving into 'social media' sites, (eg Facebook, Triller, Medium, etc) as they can interact with known friends on there. Soon social media sites will be in decline as the next generation of internet communications takes over ... https://futuristspeaker.com/predictions … nd-beyond/

And 'hi' to everyone I haven't spoken to for a while!!
