It all depends, typically it consist of a neck adjustment if needed, string& saddle height adjustment, set the intonation, pickup height ajustment, changing strings and oiling the finger board. In my case I also clean & polish the guitar. This runs from $ 45.00 to $100.00 american.

They are a Korean company I believe the largest guitar maker in the world (correct me if I'm wrong). Robert Benadetto was designing for them. Never played one although have seen them.

Speaking of misspelling Mr. Allman's name is Duane. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_biggrin.gif" border=0 alt="Very Happy">  Along with Dickey Betts they did some fine work together as Duane also did with Eric Clapton on the Derek & the Dominos album.

Go to www.warmoth.com and check their bodys for the amount of money you want to spend. Stick a set of Rio Grande texas/bbq bucker humbucker set. Use a 5-way strat switch (oak grigsby or crl type not the inline imports). Using a five way switch allows you to have humbuckers and to split the coils and gert a single coil sound. Pos#1 would be the bridge bucker, pos#2 neck & bridge bucker, pos#3 neck bucker, pos#4 bridge and neck split coil & pos#5 bridge split coil.

Since I don't have a grand or two (american) to spend I would buy a kit from international luthiers supply. You can buy an alder strat type kit painted with all the hardware for about $300.00 american. Ditch the pick guard and electronics buy a set of Rio grandes ($190.00 american)and get a good set of machine heads(tuners).

You have to rerout the body for humbuckers because they are cut for single coil pick ups. If you cant take it to a good tech and have him rout, wire and set up the action.

You have a semi-custom guitar for 500.00 to 700.00 american not counting any extra labor charges.

You can buy an american strat for the same price but you don't get the pickups or any other custom items you might want.

I don't think you can split active pick ups (EMG's). You can always use hot rail(stacked humbuckers in a single coil type config.) you can split them but I don't have any experience with them. Take a look around and let me know which route you choose.

Their good for the price and close to the high end boutique pickups.  They make different models and they are affordable. I have a set of overwound 70's grey bottoms in an alder strat wired with a volume mod (your tone does not suffer when you lower your volume) there real hot(wound). Go to the GFS website and check the pick ups out. As far as building a guitar out of parts as a semi custom how much money do you want to spend? Do you want to paint it, dye it or buy a body that's already painted? How much money do you want to spend? Once you decided let me know and I give you a hand.

As stated a on their website it is a Korean made guitar.  That's not bad as a good bit of the worlds guitars are made in Korea. What model did you get? But most of all are you happy with it as you are the one playing it?

Fourteen and a banjo (yes a banjo they gave it to me). currently building a strat type (swamp ash body) with a hard tail bridge and Fender texas special pick ups on a pearloid pick guard.  I just mixed two bottles of dye today blue & black. I will lay down the black dye first then sand it back so just the wood grain is heavy (black) and then go over with the blue dye to fill in the back ground. After its dry I will seal it(if you dont use a grain filler the wood soaks finish like a sponge) and start to do a oil rub finish. The heavy grain pops when it has a different color dye bed (back ground). I am also working on an sg type guitar, I don't know if I am going to use some epiphone LP pickups I kept from a repair as part of the paymemt (installed a EMG Zak Wylde set of pick ups) or go with a set of GFS pick ups.

Dead is dead no matter what age you are. Death is only thing that is garanteed in life.  You start dying as soon as you are born. With that said although the persons mentioned above life was cut short sometimes by nature and not their own doing they left a musical legacy other wise this thread would be going on. Celebrate what they left behind their music dont repeat their mistakes. Live each day like it maybe your last and play your guitar.

Yes, You can alway stick a new set of pickups in it and or use it to learn other mods after you learned on it (and purchased a new one). Go to www.guitarfetish you could find a set of humbuckers for $ 30.00 to $ 40.00 american.

Go to www.floydrose.com. Typically floyds are top loaded (routed on the front of the guitar and also the back to accommidate the trem claw & springs) they have different models. The model I have is a original (thats the model name as well as an original floyd)and it is a top loader. Go to the website and look at the models that they make. They also have routing templates on their sight.

As previously mentioned before check out guitars with the following trems, Kahler, Schaller (made in Germany), Floyds (original and licensed models made to floyd specs and cost less around $69.99 to $125.00 american) and Wilkersons. You might find one that will work for you and your style of play.

To answer your original question yes the price does not include installation. However you can buy a strat clone body depending on type of wood for around $120 to 400 american they will rout it for a floyd and you have to finish (ie: paint or dye) and put it together (the hardware and wiring).

Pignose amps and a few smaller amps including one made by Fender (amp can I believe)run on batteries.  You can also get a converter and change the current from the your car in to ac to run an amp.

Check your intonation (tune with an electric tuner and hit a harmonic on the 12th fret)and your neck set up. check your string height (go to www.fender.com and under services look for setups it will give you the correct string height for your tele)and check your nut depth.

Well,I found playing it unlplugged away from the teenagers in the music shop I found out quickly if the guitar will mold to me.  Remember, its your playing that determines how good you sound, and good strings, brigde, and tuning it correctly will make any guitar sound good if well cared for <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_cool.gif" border=0 alt="Cool">

Gizmo:

your right in statement that playing a guitar unamplified will allow you to hear if the sustain holds out on a guitar which is a good way to find out if a guitar is good. However the last part of your post is not true because there are alot of dogs out there. If you take the time to check a guitar out for sustain you find that you play a few before you find that certain one. Even though they are the same model and the same manufacture.

Chances are that the body routing on your is

what is called a swimming pool route.(a big

square hole) If it is than you have a few

options #1 use the traditional 3 single coil

pick ups. #2 use (2)humbuckers wired with a 5

way switch which will give you the capabilities

to play both humbucker sound and split coil

(single coil) sound from a humbucker. A wiring

kit, new pearloid pick guard (my usual pick)

and pick ups should run about $125.00. If you

know how to solder and read schematics, other

wise you need somesome one to wire it for you.

Try GFS pick ups (www.guitarfetish.com) their

prices are reasonable and quality product. If

you want high end check out rio grande pickups.

(www,riograndepickups) When you ready (I

usually have to save or do a repair for spare

cash) let me know if I can help.

Will your notes ring clear? A higher action

will require more pressure than a lower action

since there is more distance from the finger

board to the string. You won't turn into a

body builder but when you go to an action that

is lower you will reconize the difference in

pressure you'll need to get a clear note. In

essence you're still playing the same your not

changing your style or technique. The

difference is going to be the feel of the

guitar neck and the fluidness of your playing.

dchewning, you can hot rod the strat to get a

better sound it would have cost less than the

price you paid for your used RGX. The MIM strat

body is more than likely an alder body while

your yamaha probley basswood(?). I have a

23 year old Guild C45F ac/el that I relpaced

the original pick up with a B Band set up that

I would use for worship. (last band I played in

for 5 years)

I have been playing for about 1 year or so now and i recently noticed that when using a pick i have a habit of resting my spare fingers on the body of my guitar, whether i am playing my acoustic or electric. i have been assured by some guitarists that this is perfectly fine and offers support to my hand, while others have told me to kick the awful habit.  I was wondering which one is correct??  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_confused.gif" border=0 alt="Confused">  millie

Which one are you comfortable with? Then that's the right one for you. Your the one thats playing and unless the way you pick is either harming you hand or causing horible tone from your playing do what you feel works for you.
