While I wasn't a fan of Earth, Wind and Fire, it's another reminder that we're getting older and the artists we grew up with are gathering on that great stage in the sky in ever increasing numbers.

Earth, Wind & Fire founder Maurice White, whose horn-driven band sold more than 90 million albums and made hits like "September," ''Shining Star" and "Boogie Wonderland," died Wednesday at his home in Los Angeles, his brother Verdine said.

White, who was 74, suffered from Parkinson's Disease and had retreated from the public even as the band he founded kept performing.

"My brother, hero and best friend Maurice White passed away peacefully last night in his sleep," Verdine White, also a member of the band, told The Associated Press on Thursday. "While the world has lost another great musician and legend, our family asks that our privacy is respected as we start what will be a very difficult and life changing transition in our lives. Thank you for your prayers and well wishes."

Earth, Wind & Fire, a nine-piece band centered featuring the two White brothers, singer Philip Bailey and the distinctive horn section, were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. The band's most successful period started with the 1975 album "That's The Way of The World" and continued through the rest of the decade. Other hits included "Serpentine Fire," ''That's the Way of the World" and a cover of the Beatles' "Got to Get You Into My Life."

White publicly revealed he had Parkinson's at the time of the band's Hall of Fame induction, but he had shown symptoms of the neurological disease back in the 1980s. He stopped touring with the band in 1995 because of weariness from the road combined with his health problems.

White said in an interview with The Associated Press in 2000 that he wanted the band's music to inspire instead of just entertain.

"That was the whole objective, to try to inspire young people to believe in themselves and to follow through on their ideas," he said. "We've touched so many people with these songs."

What they said......... !

.... I have 9 different guitars and most of my playing revolves around my Alvarez and Martin.

Jim

That's ironic.

I have 10 and the Martin and 2 of the Alvarez see most of the play time.

All that really matters it that "you" like it. I've played some of the high-end guitars that did'nt feel/sound any different that some of the lessor known brands. Rule #1 applies here' "if it sounds good it is good". Welcome to Chordie KevinRK.

Yep. That says it all.

Last spring I played a $4500 Taylor, a $2800 Gibson, a $2200 Martin and a couple other "high end" guitars. None of them felt as good in my hands as my $200 Eastman or $300 Alvarez.

Brand name recognition and high price don't always equate to the best guitar.

Very Cool!

Is the cafe owner a friend?

I can't think of anywhere around here where you go out for a meal and bring your friends and their guitars.

We are presently Beta testing her to iron out any bugs we can find before we let everyone loose on her to make it a trouble free transition for you all. (OK there are bound to be a few that we miss but you can let us know so that Per can sort them).

Hopefully it will not be long now.

Yeah, I posted a link to this one when I saw Tyson7 had posted the same story this morning.

I don't know if it's possible on this board but if it is, maybe one of the nice mods could merge them together.

Paul Kantner, one of the giants of the San Francisco music scene, died Thursday of multiple organ failure. Mr. Kantner, a founding member of the Jefferson Airplane, was 74 and had suffered a heart attack this week.

His death was confirmed by longtime publicist and friend, Cynthia Bowman, who said he died of multiple organ failure and septic shock.

Mr. Kantner suffered from a string of health problems in recent years, including a heart attack in March 2015.

Actually I have 2 of those as well. The dump truck on the right is harder to maneuver in tight spots so I only use that on large, wide open parking lots.

UJB, you need a snowblower man, shoveling that much snow is a heart-attack inducing, back busting job.

Actually I have 2. One is a paddle type and the other has the auger. I knew the paddle didn't stand a chance against that much snow so I fired up the big boy. With the snow being almost twice as high as the opening, I was just carving a tunnel and the snow was falling right back on the walk so I just shoveled it out.

Once I broke through to the driveway I emlpoyed the really heavy artillery.

Now I will turn to my left and look alongside the house. The snow was too deep for the snowblower. That's a yardstick on the right.

The backdoor and the driveway are now connected. Look closely The little black speck to the right of the center tree is the tip of our mailbox.

Um... Joe... I think "State of Emergency" means that no one is leaving their homes, and you shouldn't too.  Sit down, relax.  Wait for it to pass.  (You are in a State of Emergency aren't you?  I think everyone in the big colorful areas of the map are).  Of course, I realize who I'm talking to.  It's much like when I tell Jim he's too sick to go to work and he says, "no such thing".  Sigh...

Stay Safe Fellas!!!! OH... and keep it too.  We don't want it up here.  big_smile

I couldn't go anywhere even if I wanted to; which I don't.

Our road is nothing but 5'-7' drifts. The township plows and within an hour we're drifted in again. I don't even know why they bother. I understand the reasoning behind it but once the drifts are at the same level as the field, the snow just blows through and doesn't get ant deeper.

Looks like the wind will continue through most of tomorrow so it looks like I won't be going anywhere until at least Monday.

It's NUTS out there!!

I made one pass through my run overnight. Headed home for a little nap before going out later.

A 20 minute drive turned into 1.5 hours. This is the first time I've experienced true White Out conditions. I, literally,  could not see the front end of my truck and had to stop many times.

I really need that nap.
