Greetings Bax and Welcome to Chordie!!  Pleased you have finally found us.... but between friends, we have not been hiding. wink

Take a little time to wander around the Forums, and read the "stickys" in each section for lots of hints and clues about how to get the most out of your experience here.  For instance introductions are usually done down in the Chat Section, so you might find your intro secretly moved down there by the section mod.  Don't be alarmed, it happens a lot with new people.

You have plenty of Chordieans in your neck of the woods, that I'm sure you'll get to know quite well over a short span.  The East Coast mob seem to gather regularly up and down the seaboard (I just know it's because y'all are so close together gepgraphically unlike we Westerners), and a new face is always welcome if scheduling permits.

Welcome Aboard!  Visit often and make yourself at home, lots of good folks hanging out in Chordieland.

Keep your powder dry, nose above the waterline, and hang on I hear there's a squall comin'.

Take Care;
Doug

Jim,  just copy the link (in blue) from Dino's post that included the quote for Roger's that had it imbedded.  Assuming youhave web access in your classroom, you should be able to display it via your projector to the screen...... I'm also assuming you have that hardware available as well without knowing where exactly you are in the world, and how "tech" your school is.

You could also go to the link, and "save a copy" to your local drive as a .gif file to retrieve at will without the web access. It should play through your usual media player of choice.

I think I had a wound G string give it up once (a long time ago) don't remember the brand..... it snapped right where it was dallied around the little brass "spool".  Took the parts down to the local store where purchased and they gave me a single replacement.  Guessed it was a bad temper in the core wire.

Usually it is the solids that fail, and usually from being kinked while installing.  Had a bunch of Fender "bullets" blow the ends off of a couple sets of electric strings, so quit buying Fender brand strings..... problem solved!!

I do believe he is Vasily Bogatyrev, at least he is credited for the music for the series (which is also available on YT in several languages including English).  As to where the sound studio is located..... that could be anyone's guess, but the dubbing is done in Southern California, and one video I watched where he did a video tour of his personal studio, had Palm Trees, and lots of equipment from US sources.  Sorry my Russian is not better, I can generally follow the narrative, but they talk so darn fast!  Of Course our British friends say the same of Americans too, and we speak the same language (sort of).

Doug

PS: Thanks for the link Russell, the Grandkids are really enjoying the animated series, dubbed in English .

Everybody got munchies & beverages?  Seahawks and Packers this evening...... should be a good match as usual but I'm thinking Green Bay will take this one.

That is a happy catchy tune (although the riff reminds me of "all of me").  Merv can sure blow that thing, and frankly has more wind than I do.... but for the benefit of Dino, I think that trumpet is actually a Cornet.  Kind of the "travel guitar" of the Trumpet Family.  I personally like the tone as it is mellower even without a mute.

Confession time:  I sold my Baritone years ago...... but there is still a "Bone" in it's case in the corner of the music room next to the Piano.  I hesitate to mention it as this is a Guitar Forum, and risk expulsion or censure for blasphemy.

I'm unlisted (and have been for years) but the "robodialers" still manage to try once in awhile. The best option is a "whitelist device" that will only allow incoming calls on your own list of numbers, and it rejects everything not on the list (that you compile & input).  That option works well and other than once in awhile getting someone unable to get through that you would normally not object to (like that unpublished back line at your doctor's office), is bulletproof.

If I know you and would like you to call me, you have my number already (or my cell). If you are going to be in the area and would like to touch bases, e-mail me and I'd be happy to add your number to my list.

In that price range though, you'll be looking at the X series with a new Martin (all made in Mexico - High pressure laminate).  If you can find a Taylor with a solid top around that price, I think you'd be better off........

Amy, I bought a Strat (still have it), which I thought was at a great price, but after looking very closely at the serial number, I saw that it was made in Mexico and even though it plays well, I wouldn't dare try to sell it for what I paid for it: $399.00 USD.

Bill, as an aside, some of those Mexican Strats are excellent instruments and highly prized..... and priced!  You likely got a really good deal when you bought it, but might want to "shop around" for a more current value, you might just be amazed.

Why of course you can!  Log on with the new password, find "profile" in the blue margin just below the index tabs on the top of this page and choose a new (easy for you to remember) password.

Just like that!  smile

Well, how about "Unsuitable"..?...... (ie: jacket & tie do not apply, we won't wear 'em you don't haf'ta)  implies laid back, informal, or casual.
Much like the music, working class and surely not "stuffy".

Ran across this interesting perspective today and thought I'd share.   https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct … frBSFjWAPQ

Darn I didn't think the link would be that Huge!!!  But an interesting read anyway.

Edited to add: (the link got bunches smaller once posted.... but it does work!)

Well, here is the link:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=YoaqVojsseM

As for the "chords",  it's gonna take a keyboard player (better than me or my ears) to sort that out.  I'm hearing mostly percussion with a bass, and a little ivory fills here and there.  Minimalist and almost ambient musically. If you were thinking about getting close with a guitar to what is recorded, you might need a whole room full of processors and small arsenal of modeling efffects.  I'd be surprised if there was a breathing "musician" in the studio (in the classic sense), but rather a "magician" at the mixing rack.

What?  You can afford shirts with collars?  That's pretty "high-brow", my choices are with or without sleeves.  Had no idea they even came in colors!

Do miss the "Munkey Wards" once in awhile..... still gettin' Harbor Freight.

Greetings horvax,  Sorry you are having problems.  If it makes you feel better, you are not the only one and you might check out this thread discussing the problem:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=27285

As well as a more recent one concerning the same on an Android device, which is corrected by choosing display in desktop format. http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=28000

But generally it is more helpful if you would give us some specifics, such as the type of device, operating system, browser, and if you are running adblocking extensions (or not) and the version of that you are using.  It is in the queue for getting ironed out, but with all the various hardware/software combinations out there, and most of the conflicts able to be worked around with adjusting settings, more info is better served than just stating an issue.

Thanks;
Doug

Edited to add:  Second link reference.

Well let's see.... you been around since 06, so only got to search through nine years of posts.  Yup!  you have a time frame to narrow it down? & did you happen to post it here on Chordie in the Songwriting or Poetry sections?  Because then I can browse the archives and see if I can find the original thread for you.

Doug (who likes a Challenge)

Edited to add:  Bill you want the even or odd years?  Or we could split it in half, seeing as how we are both up kinda late evenings.
Edited to add:  Scott if you can remember a few words from the lyric it can be put in the search stream and narrow it down..... Maybe.

Bumping this thread.

Who is interested in an early October trip to Las Vegas for some jamming? I'm thinking the weekend of October 9, 10, and 11.

Well Joe that is as good a date as any I suppose....... except, it happens to be the projected delivery date of our first Grandchild (9 October, a Girl).  Don't you just hate it when life gets in the way?

I can picture it now:  Me walking out the door of the delivery room (guitar case in hand), telling the "Grandma to be"
"Honey you and the kids can handle this.... I gotta go to Vegas and make music with a couple friends over a six pack.".

That loud noise you will hear is not a sonic boom from Creech, it would be the sound of my coffin lid slamming !! Followed by the aftershock of the oven door delivering my carcass to one of the onliest places on the planet hotter than Stovepipe Wells (Death Valley) in mid-July.

Thanks for the Invite, but I too must reluctantly decline this time around.

Doug

Healthy cats can go awhile!  My last cat outlived TWO dogs, and there was only about 5 years of overlap in the dogs' tenure with us.  No sooner did I have that gato in the ground and another wandered in and made himself at home.  We called him "Not" as in not our cat, until he showed up with a collar with his real name on it, and a phone number.  He eats real good wandering through the area, and gets plenty of real meat judging from the carcasses he leaves around

Actually Bill that's up to you.  The section was intended as a place for discussion about Bands & Artists..... nothing in your post(s) deviates from that subject greatly, so hammer down!

Try adding the Adblock Plus app to your browser (extension) and see if that helps.  You might have to check which version of Android you are running, as some versions are not supported.

Yup!  Tuned it in on my  Roku so's I didn't have to stay too close to the screen to watch the festivities.  Walked away to catch a phone call, and poof it was over...... but it's been "syndicated" and the re-run is just as good as the original, if not better.  There were a few buffering glitches at this end I think, that may not be on the recorded version.

All and all nicely done and I think everyone had a good time getting together thanks to Amy and Jim (and the kids)!
