I think the proceeds go to the site..... at least until someone tells me otherwise.  As for the hemp ones, you might have trouble wearing them out.  Traditional Kimono cloth was woven from hemp (the "every-day" ones, not the formal Silk) dyed with Indigo and handed down mother to daughter for a couple/three generations.  That fibre is tough and makes pretty good bailer twine too!

When production outstrips the ability to move product, something has got to slow down and let infrastructure catch up.  Wouldn't call it so much a bust as much as a prudent pause.

I still dabble in renewable energy (purely as a consultant), the paper says ME, but other interests won out...... music just wasn't one of them.

Not losing any sleep over that, and steering clear of any medicos that prescribe stuff that you can't just quit if you want to.  Got one for depression that warned that you should "only stop taking this medication under orders and supervision of your Physician" , followed by the warning "failure to do so can result in irritability, nausea or death.".   Say what!?!  Maybe I should just shoot myself now and avoid all that anger, and vomiting!  Funny thing though, I didn't mention depression..... just wanted something to help me get to sleep once in awhile.  That is just an "off-label" side effect.  Thanks, I'll sip the Brandy and take "Ways to not wake up Dead...... for $400 Alex".  wink

I sure am glad I didn't guess earlier...... I was gonna ask if there were really that many Rodeos still running. smile

Oil is still booming though, spent a bit of time up on the Bakken, and have a good friend working in the Permian.

Greetings Bill,  Getting any sleep?  Anyway the secure connection has something to do with the HTTPS: security protocol that it seems everybody has gone to.  It encrypts everything you transmit and receive to prevent "snooping", or spoofing you to malicious sites (works kinda like the "newer, nicer, simpler IRS".  All that encrypting and decrypting takes processor cycles that could be getting to the task of actually taking you where you want to go and displaying what you want to look at.  You should be able to disable the feature in your browser settings/preferences under security.

Generally if you type your requested site in the url box at the top of the browser window without the preface www or http, it should just whisk you off to webland without all the hocus-pocus.  Your defender antivirus and firewall should be able to filter out invalid certificates anyway, and I would suppose you aren't one of those folks that just clicks on everything that might pop-up warning you about detected malware and free ways to speed up your computer "just because we noticed it"...... nothing on the internet is "free" and if you didn't request it, you shouldn't click-it!.

But then again you might as well be doing something while you're waiting fir the darn thing to connect to our "secure server"...... like a few choruses of "Waiting for the World To Change" by John Mayer?

Take Care Bud;
Doug

Good Morning Bill,  The first thing that comes to mind is your screen resolution settings, could be that it's set too low (by default in your new installation) and the page is larger than the real estate you have to display it.  Right click out in the middle of your wallpaper and try increasing it a bit in the settings menu that should come up.  What makes me think that is your comment about not being able to click the header and move the frame around to center.

Let us know how it goes.

Howdy Jay,  See That you've been a member awhile..... So I expected that you would be aware that posting Copyrighted material is treading on thin ice.

We appreciate you taking the time to put this up for the original poster, but you might just e-mail a copy to him/her even though it was requested 3 years ago, and edit your posts down to the 10% allowable for study just to keep folks from getting uppity.

Welcome to the Forums and Thanks!

Most can get around a "short scale" (25 1/2") guitar, but a smaller body might be more comfortable.  Really though it all depends on the age of your student.

Well here's the YT link Anyway:

As such, we have no other mechanisms to restore the data. I am sorry for the news.

Question: Can I back up my computer on one of those "thumb" thingies?

Thanks

Bill

YES !!!!!  Actually having a backup locally as well as on the "cloud" is preferable.  I'm not that trusting of the online boys so far as keeping my stuff safe, from harm or prying eyes. Thumb drives are excellent as well as portable hard drives (which is what I use), and at least every 6 months I burn a copy to recordable DVD that absolutely makes sure a crash or other such catastrophe doesn't wipe out all those photos etc..

Good Afternoon Bill,  Clean install just means that the hard drive is giong to be, or has been reformatted so there are no files from the prior installation on it.

Generally you would just shut off your PC with the windows CD in the drive.  Switch it on and hit the "boot options" key when the first screen appears (commonly F12 or F2, depending on your brand), and choose CD drive as the first boot device option.  That should allow the CD to boot the machine and open the installation file.  Then choose reformat the drive C: and let the installation run through the process.  At the end of the installation, it should ask you to remove the disk and restart the computer (it will boot from the hard disk when there is no optical disk in the CD drive) and then you can restore your personal files and preferences from your backup.  You do have one made recently don't you? (fingers crossed);)

That should put you with a clean installation with your stuff back where it was before and with the possibility of reactivating your windows + a few updates...... ready to run!

Drop me a mail if you have additional questions, I check mine often.

Bill

PS: Heh-heh. Sounds ominous, doesn't it? "You can't go back." smile

Hey Bill, You have the original disks and you are installing back on the same hardware you originally put 7 on, so you should be "golden".

The product Key should match the one registered with Microsoft, so it should still come up as a "Genuine Windows" version and still be registered (although you might have to drop a dime on the support guys to verify that, IF it does not do so automatically).  Likely you will have a TON of updates to install afterwards, and you will need to allow the installation to reformat and partition the drive back to NTFS.  If you have a recent backup of your 7 system files and the (default) user directories on other media (portable drive or DVD or such), all of your programs, files and preferences should be fairly easy to restore from backup.  That should save you a bunch of work gathering/installing software and many updates.  If in doubt, there are tutorials and info on reverting on the Microsoft Support webpages.... and naturally some videos on YT I'm sure!!

Keep us posted on how it goes for you.

Here's something to consider.  Copyright!  It is one thing to cover another artist's work on you-tube or soundcloud or what's-your-flavor-of -the -week.  Another altogether to do so and derive monetary gain (even if earmarked for charity, or next to nothin').

Seems to me that when we had first discussed such a project in the recording section (and I should add that the timing was about the same as that MPAA rant that had everyone sitting on pin-cushions awaiting lawsuits, including Chordie!), we kinda decided that we should limit contributions to "original" works of the members to aviod involving the site in litigation over credit and percentages or waivers.

Just a suggestion for additional discussion.

Hey, I took mine apart a year ago and removed a small poodle's worth of fluff from between the fan and "radiator"!  I blow it out often with that canned air, and never never NEVER run it on any kind of soft surface like couch cushion or blanket. Laptops are notorious for heat control issues..... not a lot of room in there for circulation, and who thought putting all the intakes on the bottom was a good idea?

Cooler pads are a good investment!

Not that it's gonna make you feel better if something "melted down" literally.  But You Tube is a great "stress test" for hardware and software.  There is a lot of stuff going on while watching a film on YT, the video and sound is working hard, the browser is running along with the network assets, you got flash (?) and java scripts running, memory buffers cycling, drives spinning, etc. all at the same time!

Keeping my fingers crossed that it just hit a thermal threshold and "scrammed" .  wink

Did you miss the part about "some but not all Android devices"?  What do you suppose the odds are that one of us has the same make and model that you have sitting in a drawer somewhere so we can duplicate your problem.  Also, you mention "droid phone"..... are you using the phone app? or just hitting the webpage (which is not optimized for mobile devices)?

Screenshot, make/model, and all the info Please.

Thanks

Bill,  I don't really think that there is a "philosophy" to Chordie per-se.  But there is a "mentoring" factor generally among the membership, which might be diminished from introducing a competative "flavor" to the mix.

Not a bad idea, really..... there is a trend in current entertainment towards that sort of thing which might appeal to some. I do have concerns about the "cost" though. (not in monetary terms, although you might already know that from your grasp of language)  wink

Interesting topic for discussion though, and I'm looking forward to reading the comments!

Bill

Well Bill you could from the video link I posted........ but I'm a bit busy at the moment (as are you!!).

As to the Guitar Question, Godin and I think it is the multiac nylon.  They have a distinctive "soundhole" which is actually the tone/volume and sliders for bass, mid, treble, etc.  The Godin signature is also visible just above the fretboard on the body.

The Earl of Malmsteen really likes that phrygian mode and is really fast, but somehow lacking in the musicality of many newer artists out there.

Bill as a percussionist, I should have included something by Antione Dufur.  Another of our talented neighbors to the North: www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQlyHbu0zz4

The percussive fingerstyle is popular these days it seems, and traces it's roots to the Gipsy/Flamenco genre. But as you can see.... can be somewhat overdone and repetative (no offense to Antoine, but this example does drag a bit towards the end).

Enjoy;
Doug

Sorry Bill, but not meaning to mislead you...... that is the other Doug Smith (really!).  He lives just up the road a bit and I had a chance encounter with him at a hand-built instrument show in the Portland area. Really a nice fellow and gives good seminars, but I found unable to bestow magical musical powers to myself despite our shared name.

Pleased you liked the music though!
