Solid work to everyone!
I'm trying to get Santa Monica nailed down but it's a tricky little bugger. Doing my best though. Hope to do at least a subpar job of it by Monday.
I'm shooting for subpar mediocrity on that song myself. It has got tricky timing.

Sunday Morning Coming Down - https://soundcloud.com/user-35218982/su … oming-down
Not good with recording at all. Getting better about learning how to use microphones, which makes the recording worse. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

No one has supported CSOM
so here`s a wee bit of song,i didn`t have the whole song so just did a taster.
not very tasty, i don`t really do covers, with my lack of ability.
Is some else going to do one???
come on you proper singers

Do more than a teaser bud! That was right on target. I don't know what you mean by "lack of ability." It sounded good to me. And you know Rule 1 - If it sounds good, it is good.

Hey. I'm still working on Jack and Diane from April. I've got the intro to where it's recognizable and reasonably accurate about one out of four times. I'll keep practicing the intro while I move to the chorus. I may have it ready by August. :-)
I'm making good progress on Santa Monica, but am having a really hard time with keeping the rhythm with the G5 power chord and singing. The G5 is basically playing the tom-tom part of a drummer. Plus the singing is particularly rhythmic in that song. Doing two rhythms at once while remembering lyrics is too much for me. So I've got a guest singer who will be helping me out. We've been trying for weeks to get together to practice, but his family's schedule and my family's schedule haven't synched up. I was even thinking of getting a distortion pedal, but am going to forego that expense. I'll mess around with the settings on my amp a bit though to see if I can get something tasty.

Sat down to give Sunday Morning Coming Down last night. I've never played it, but it's all cowboy chords and it's in my wheelhouse. I also saw an episode of Drunk History that featured Sunday Morning Coming Down, Johnny Cash, and Kris Kristofferson. So anyway, I'll try and record it this weekend. I've got a couple people coming around the back yard on Saturday to enjoy some wine and pick some guitars, so maybe we'll do it as a group.

Good to hear from you Bushy. Whether you play or not, you'd be welcome at any of the Chordie inspired gatherings, I'm sure. You're welcome at my campfire anytime.
Do you have any artist's names we should check out from the Australian country music scene? I'm thrilled to see Willie Nelson with yet another number 1 record.

I'm Gonna Live Forever
by Billy Joe Shaver
I'll second that one too. In fact, I already perform this song, so I'll just record it and put it up once my voice heals up.
Abusing moderator privilege to edit in a link to a recording of Live Forever I knocked out between meetings at work. Campfire style - no polish.

We are working on this one with the 10-year-old right now. He's smart and gifted and LAZY. Trying to get the kid to work for more than the bare minimum is tricky.
We're having that same challenge with our eldest. We keep trying to teach her how to get good results, but she's more interested in skating by on the minimum. Now there are times for skating by on the minimum. Some things you just smile and nod your way through until it's time to go. But not with EVERYTHING.

As usual, completely up in the air for me. My sister lives in Elmira and I owe her a visit. Or...really about ten visits. She's a musician too, though I'm not sure if she's still playing. At one time she played banjo, mountain dulcimer, and guitar and sang folk songs ... I mean old mountain folk songs. Like the kind of obscure stuff that gets played in intros to voiceovers at state parks where they talk about the logging heritage of a region. Anyway, it would be fun, but I have no idea of what is possible. If it works, I'll pitch a tent and bring my cot. There's not many places I'm not comfortable with my cot and a tent. I think the likelihood is on the lower end - 15% maybe.

Female - Walking After Midnight by Patsy Cline
I'll second the vote for Father And Son. It's one I used to do and I could use a break from having to learn new stuff (though it's been a fun challenge).
Also, a song I've been trying to learn but instead have been learning all these blasted CAGED chords (jk) is Guy Clark's Bag of Bones. I need to learn how to do slide for that one though. Dang it's such a good song.

I'm working on Santa Monica. It's another like Jack and Diane that uses partial chord shapes up the neck - so a good intro to CAGED. I'm learning. Also the timing on the lyrics is critical to the rhythm of the song and they are non-traditional timings.
I'll knock Sunday Morning Coming Down out some afternoon when I've got laundry in the machine.

Hi Bill
Knocked Kneed is a expression I like. It is used in NZ by some parts Kiwi society.Look fprward to seeing what you come up with.
I am not playing music at the moment due to health issues, just adding a few bad vocals here and there, Attached is my latest vocal effort .
Wishing you and Dondra all the best.

I hope a full recovery from your health issues comes your way soon.
In the meanwhile, bad vocals are a speciality of mine. Keep up the good work.
