Oh man. I knew she wasn't doing well but didn't know she was that bad off. Never be another like Miss Etta.

Re: Ordering on line (16 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
I've ordered 3 guitars online. 2 were used. The one that was new I had tried out and then found a good deal online. I don't have any issues with online purchasing. Their return policy makes it appealing too.

Ibanez dread. I learned on it but it was hard to play. Got rid of it last year. Don't miss it at all.

Re: Stick to one song and not switch around? (9 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I like to bounce around. If I stick with one song too long it gets boring and I get frustrated if I'm not getting something down. I actually warm up with a few scales/stretching exercises then I start off with the Alphabet song and Happy Birthday.
Glad to hear that you're making progress. Keep it up!!!!!!

I very rarely remember my dreams. My wife tho, I can tell exactly where she gets her dreams from when she tells me about them. Mostly it has to do with what she watched on tv the day before. She has an very impressionable mind.

Re: Change of string weights on an acoustic (12 replies, posted in Acoustic)
Just by nature of the guitars you have to press harder to get a good sound on an acoustic. There's a big diff in your strings weights between the two also. Try going a step lighter on your acoustic.

That's weird. Default should be 440. I wonder how much of a diff it will make at 433.

Happy NGD Sonny!!!!! We have a rule here, you must post pics of a new guitar to share with everyone.
I did a quick search for the 5040 and it seems to be an older guitar and had good reviews. GuitarPix will post all the info you need.

Re: Hoodie (13 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Amy, I paid $19.99 shipping was $5. Fabric is pretty cheap so I'm sure you could make one for cheaper. It actually looks like a Hoodie jacket that you wear with no sleeves and a smaller hood.

Topic: Concert last night (3 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
So I went to see Tesla last night at the House of Blues in Anaheim, Ca. It was a pretty good show. The lead singer seemed to maybe be on something. He was a little twitchy and loopy. But they sounded great. They are on their acoustic tour right now. I didn't know what to expect but I had fun. I think I posted after my last concert about all the older people there. I say older but I'm guessing I'm in the same category now. I've noticed two things about my concert going as I get older. 1) I need a place to sit my tired self during the show. 2) I want to be awed by the musicians rather than just rock out. I would much rather go to a small venue and see a couple guys who are amazing than go see a band that is just loud. All in all a good show.

Like Topdown said,"DOH".
If you knew how to sew it would be really easy to make. I can't sew therefore I bought.

*I have no affiliation with this product*
I received my Hoodie today. For those of you who haven't heard of one check it out. It fits really well. I am always leary of things labeled "fleece" but this material is very soft and durable. The magnets to keep it closed are really small, like the diameter of a pencil. They hold the back together. I have mine on the stand as I write this. Now I don't have to worry about one of my son's toys banging into my guitar or getting dusty. Very cool idea and it is everything that they say it is.

Re: science and inventors (56 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Yeah I'm on Zurf's side.
If you look at the results that science gives us how can you not believe there is a God.
I have heard it explained this way, regarding the big bang:
If you took just the parts of a intricate watch and put them in a box, loose by themselves, shook the box, opened it up and found a complete watch, that is how the big bang is said to have happened. We came from dust and particles right? Those are the watch parts. The bang itself is the shake of the box. And here we are? Mind you, it's not just parts being combined. It's everything working together in perfect harmony. So if you think of all the things that are symbiotic on Earth how can you not believe in God? Mind boggling really.
On a side note, Darwin was afraid of Peacocks because of the "eye" on their feathers. Why you ask? Because in his genius of figuring out evolution he could not explain the human eye. The eye is simply amazing. I don't believe something like that can come from dirt.

Wow, so 4G does exist. I was thinking is was on the same list as bigfoot, the loch ness monster, chupacabra, and aliens. Funny, you can get 4G out in the middle of the country, but I can't get regular phone service in the back of Home Depot. Something wrong here!!!!

Re: Chourd Changes (13 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I agree with Dino, try something a little easier that you know. And don't feel bad, I've been playing for over three years and I can't listen to a song and tell what's going on. I have to have someone tell me what to do.
Check out your other post on learning a song. Toots last post is worth looking at.
good luck

Unless you play it with all barre chords you can't get that reggae feel because of the little muting thing that you need to do.
I play an easy version based on this kids video from nick jr.:
UD UD UUUD
with only A D E
Good luck!!!!!!

Zurf is this guitar a piece or just worn? Hopefully it won't hinder/discourage her from learning. That first month is the determiner.
