I'm confused...ED or KEN? How do i address our esteemed colleague?

Any way, I take that last line of the chorus as...I'm chasing my dreams. Hope I'm not caught by the establishment before I get there...? Obviously I don't want Jim to change his words to that mouthful, just how I understand his writing process.

Hi Ed. I began recording last night and I think it may take a few dedicated sessions to complete to my fairly low standards! I'll post the link when it's done.

Thanks Brian. I had the original idea but then got writer's block! So along comes young Pete with a totally different plot to what I had in mind and the rest is history!

Hi Jim. Hate to disappoint but it's actually a country song, inspired by having to wait for someone, you know how it goes....get your shoes on I'm ready. So you get ready to go, then she says...are you ready and you say...yep ready to rock, and she's still putting her make up on!

here's a new song with Peatle jville, Pete to his friends.

Ready To RockUndefined

CHORUS

[C] Ready to rock. [G] Ready to roll.

[Am] Ready to hit the spots that [F] most folks never go.

[C] Ready to dance. [G] Ready to sing.

[Am] Ready to play that chord on [F] all my seven strings.

Yes it's [G] only a song to you.

[Am] Only a dance.

[F] Only an hour or two. To [G] maybe find romance.

When you're, [C] ready to [G] rock. Ready to [C] roll.

[Am] Got my Chevy outside. [G] Take a trip to my shack.

[Am] Hidden deep in the woods. [F] Way out back.

[Am] Get out my blues guitar. [G] Out of the boot.

[Am] Singing under the stars. [F] Could be a hoot.

Then go [G] back to my place. On [Am] route 66.

[F] Then head south and [G] out to the sticks.

When we're [C] ready to [G] rock. Ready to [C] roll.

CHORUS

[Am] I know a long road. [G] We can take a long ride.

[Am] Fill up the gas. We [F] wont need to stop awhile.

[Am] What more can I ask? [G] With you by my side.

[Am] Lets get crazy baby. [F] Lets get crazy baby.

[G] Back to my place. On [Am] route 66.

[F] Build a log fire. [G] Out of dead sticks.

If you're. [C] Ready to [G] rock. Ready to [C] roll.

CHORUS

Brian you are a Zion
Your mind is a lion
Made me laugh till I'm cryin'
I bet the ladies are sighin'
In the shops they stopped buyin'
Your words were not lyin'
May your pen never run out of ink

That's a very sad story, please accept my sympathy. I had to look up what Percocet was, more sympathy. I'm glad you're now clean? and planning to get back in the saddle as far as writing is concerned.

i love all those old Motown songs, #1 would be "my girl" #2 tears of a clown. etc. I watched the new Beatles film 8 days a week and I've been looking at individual tracks by them on youtube and I still get goose pimples hearing their songs. Lennon's voice was remarkable as is McCartney's still and their song writing ...no words!
recently Lady Antebellum blew my socks off. Yes, Genesis (musical box) thrilling still. I wonder how these amazing writers  manage to pen these masterpieces? I guess it helps if you have other people to help, guide, bounce off and make suggestions.

Pete. my stage clothes were black trousers with a black shirt, and latterly grey hair. it used to be a mousey blond back in the day along with my long hair and long beard! then i grew up and got BORING!!!!

sounds like a hit. i did (try) to write songs in my teenage years the theme is there but I wasn't as highbrow as your writing! mine would have been a lot simpler and more mundane. I'd love to hear how it goes as I couldn't pick out the rhythm.

I may be sad to reveal this but I am describing myself. The boring part comes from the fact that I've never indulged in recreational substances and never drink alcohol to excess. Ann chose the colour of our car (which is grey) but most of my clothes are grey. I don't have any grey guitars, but I'm still looking...lol

He wears a grey shirt.
He walks in grey shoes.
His socks are made of grey wool.
His trousers are grey plaid.
His overcoat is grey.
He sometimes wears a grey suit.
His kids all think he's boring.
His wife knows his kecks are grey.
The car he drives is grey.
And on top of all his greyness...
What is left of his hair is......

Rhymes I don't think are necessary in more serious or academic songs. The purpose of a song is to get a story across with, hopefully, a good tune. One without the other doesn't work, to me at least. I've heard my kids rave about a song that is tuneless, in my opinion, and they say listen to the words! No! The most memorable songs have the whole package.
Pete's words were brilliant, I just hope my part in the project did them justice!

From what I've heard of your writing Jeff it's all good. I sometimes feel I need to write something whether it's a song, poem or a letter. Just ask Pete or Brian I tend to bare my soul and preach a sermon at the same time!
As for song writing, if a word or phrase assaults my concious mind, I'll write in in my scrap book for later examination same with chord sequences. Whatever I'm thinking of with the first line, usually drivel, by the end of the second verse a theme or plot has formed. By the end of the third verse it may have changed. Hi diddle eedee, a writer's life for me!
Btw, nice pic on yt, is there a story there?

Hi Jim. Yea just read through your words again, good job. 12 inches of snow? Ann is so envious, I like to see snow on cards or TV. If we had that much snow the country would close down...like lock down plus VAT! Let's hear it amigo
