Now we have dictators and terrorist leaders that want to wipe out humanity in the name of God. Is it any wonder that I'm becoming an atheist?
Ain't that the truth.

That's a beauty!
I was bidding on one a few years ago on ebay but it went a little higher than I was willing to go.
At the nut?
Nope. Too tight at the nut.
Either on the D or G string at the post. Although it might not work on an electric with light strings.
Any of you guys or ladies ever leave the E string long and stick your cigarette on the end?
Come on, you can tell your ol' pal Bill. I won't spread it around!
Never tried that but I have slid one under a string on the headstock between the tuning pegs.
Holds real nice.
So now it will be travelling over 3,800 miles to here from Richmond, plus the 625 it's already gone (total 4,425 miles), instead of straight line route of 3175 miles. What a waste!
Back in the early 90's I spent one winter working for Airbourne Express doing local deliveries and pickups. My territory was about 30 miles from the local hub.
IBM had an office complex which had a fairly major road that split it in half. I would pick up an envelope on one side of the road and instead of running it across the street to it's destination, I had to scan it when it was picked up, scan it into the hub when I got back in the evening, scan it out of the hub in the morning and then scan it again when it was delivered. They would do this a couple times a week at $11.00 a shot. Those letters made a 60+ mile trip to go less than 100yds. One of the most phenomenal wastes of money I have ever encountered.
Some great ideas came out of this topic I like Jeromes and the "filthy rich"
I use that one when I get emails that tell me: "Your compensation fund worth $15,000,000 is ready to be delivered with a ATM card". Or when the poor lonely widow needs help getting her $10,000,000 out of her country so the government doesn't take it. ![]()
Good luck with that. I've been on the DNC list for around 7 years and I update every 2-3. Still get "Rachael (or some other name) from cardholder services" at least once a month. When I reported the number I found out that it shows up as inactive. I've started playing with them to waste their time and it's cut down on the number of calls I get.
Now, if I could just get the "Monkey And The Engineer" out of my head.

Bill
Once it gets in there it does kinda get stuck doesn't it?
I've still got it in my head from your "C" chord thread.
How about a 2 finger C. Use your index and middle fingers or your middle and ring fingers on the A and D strings. Just don't play the B string; sounds terrible.
On a side note..... I use a regular A and D as opposed to the 7th's. It works just as well.
Fun song to play. It became part of my regular rotation back in the spring. Next time we get together I'll record it.
I've been up at camp this weekend getting some electricity over to the addition. I had planned to bump this thread when I got home and Lo-n-Behold, it was done for me. ![]()
I am going back to see my doctor in the next couple of days (hoping for a quick referral to a specialist). But nothing in our health system happens very quickly! Will keep you posted...
Maybe they can make an exception for YOU.
Hope things work out.
I'd like to make some wings for folks as a contribution to the food. How many should I plan for?
It's looking like there is going to be quite a mountain of food here so it's really not necessary but if you'd like to make up some wings I'm sure they'll not go to waste. We're in the 18-20 area; about half are musicians.
Well, since BILL brought up the idea of cookies recently - and it should be cool here in October, I may just make some to bring along!
I'm not sure what else yet, but there'll be some goodies for sure.
I just love home made chocolate chip cookies.

Don't forget your video camera. We'll want to share some of this with Bill.
Personally, I'd ask the question: Larrivee or Eastman?. Taylors and Martins are great instruments, but I find them somewhat over-priced when comparing them to their equivalents (construction, wood types, features, etc.) in either the Larrivee or Eastman lines. Taylor and Martin both have extensive marketing campaigns, and that cost has to be built into the price somewhere. Nike, Under Armour, Shimano, Columbia, etc. are other brands which share this same "affliction".
Don't get me wrong ... you will get an awesome instrument with either a Taylor or Martin, and your ears (sound) and hands (play-ability) will help you decide.
I was going to offer alternatives also but the OP asked about Taylor and Martin. I have played both and have a Martin. I don't care for the "ringy" sound of most of the Taylors. However, I did play one that I absolutely fell in love with; the 214ce. It plays effortlessly and has a very well balanced tone. But the price tag is $700 over budget.
I concur with TF and I'm going to add another choice; Alvarez. I have a 35 year old Alvarez that I would put up against either Taylor or Martin. They are well made guitars, sound great and come in at $500-$700. I also have a great sounding Eastman that retails for $500 but I picked it up in the used market for $200.
Before you shell out the big bucks for a new guitar, look around for something used. The instrument market is soft right now and there are some really good deals out there.
Good luck in your search. Let us know what you decide on.
I wanted a video camera for "chordie PA" because the internet service up there is too slow to stream like MKM did. I found an inexpensive Sony Handycam on CL last week; $100. I took it down to my friends house on Sunday to test it and made two recordings. I wanted to send them to my brother and my playing partner but the files are too large so I broke down and created a Youtube channel.
So here are my first videos.
As was the case last year, I won't be able to commit until I know if there is snow in the forecast for whatever week you decide on.
.
Thanks for stopping in Bill.
All the best for you both.
Thanks for the update.
EXCELLENT!

I miss you Bill.
I was just thinking about this last night; haven't seem him for a week.
Quite a slug fest but in the end Japan came out on top 18-11. ![]()
Pa wins the US championship 3-2 in another nail-biter. Over 44,000 people in attendance.
Today it's Japan for the whole thing. They are expecting 50,000 for this one. That's nearly double the population of the town where the games are hosted.
The game will be aired on most ABC affiliates.
I just have ONE question... should we bring the REST of the barn up in the back of the truck so you TOO can have an itty bitty campfire? ha ha ha ha! Just kidding! I know... I know...
I figured you would have had it all burned down by now. ![]()
UJB - It is looking more possible that I could be there too! Just need to do a bit more research & PM a couple of Chordians and I'll get back to you!
Great! Hope things work out. I'll be looking forward to meeting you.
And just so you know; I'll have 5 of my guitars there so there's no need for you to travel with one. 4- 6 string and 1- 12string.
OK. We're 6 weeks out so I thought it was about time to bring this back to the top.
MKM and crew are confirmed. My brother and his girl also. That takes the 2 bedrooms. There is still a sofa-bed, a day bed and a futon.
There are 4 local musicians confirmed as well; at least one is staying the night. Being single he'll probably get the day bed. There are also a few locals coming just to socialize.
I'll have food and beer but if you're a liquor drinker you'll need to bring it. I was never into it so I know nothing about all the different forms of liquor that are out there.
Zurf, your pop-up can be parked about 20yds from my trailer.
My brother will be arriving Friday afternoon. He wants to go the the range to shoot a few of my guns and then we'll be headed up. I'll be there from Friday night on.
I would like to get confirmations in by the end of September so I can figure out how much of everything I'll need. Look at your schedules and let me know.
The final 4:
Texas vs. Pa
Mexico vs. Japan
Today is a day off for everyone.
Finally some good news. Enjoy your night out.
You deserve every minute of it
And Pa. is on to the U.S. championship on Saturday. ![]()
Maybe next time I will get one for the States.
Roger
I don't plan on getting rid of the Alvarez. If we're in close proximity you're always welcome to use it.
